Why do mobile phones make everyone leave things till the last minute. Yesterday DIL told me she is having the day at a spa today (her birthday present from DS) and he would be alone with the children. This morning he 'whatsapp' me,' are you cooking a lovely Sunday Lunch' - No I said, as we hadn't heard from anyone Dad and I are having sausages - come after lunch for tea and cake. He whatapp a reply 'shall I bring you some meat', No said I! That'll teach him, he always leaves arrangements till the last minute - maybe he will think next time, but I doubt it. My house is always open for Sunday Lunch but I do like to know on Fridays so I can go to the farm shop to buy the meat etc grrrr.Grandmothers are just antique little girls - author unknown

Hi everyone.
Avo, that would annoy me too! It's as you say, with modern forms of technology and communications we don't have to make plans far ahead as we used to. We still need to have them though! Good for you for standing firm. He may remember that next time he wants his Sunday dinner with you
We had a lovely evening with our friends last night. The meal went well, the company was great.
My OH is still in bed this morning. I have little sympathy, I'm afraid as it is self inflicted. She and a much heavier drinking friend drank over 3 bottles of red wine between them last night!! 2 of the party drank no alcohol, I and another had a glass of Pimms each and half a bottle of white between us, so I know who drank all the red! Older bodies can't take what younger ones can, and I worry about the effects on her health. I say this to her, but it makes no difference. I have to add this is a rare, not regular occurrence. She is suffering for it today however“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Going over to shower mum today. We have a bit of a giggle when I pretend to stand back from her with talc in hand, saying 'Get ready, I'm coming'. Hope you all enjoy your Sundays."Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."

I am tidying the children's room which is a sort of walk in wardrobe when they aren't here, bunk beds make very handy hanging rails when you are having a clothes crisis! as Ben hasn't stayed here for about 18 months due to his condition I have bought a new duvet cover set for him, old one was Moshi Monsters new one is Star Wars as suggested by mummy. I am taking the Princess one off the bottom bunk, he is a funny little stick, he has one of those cabin beds at home and he has told me that he only wants to sleep on the bottom bunk because he is fed up with being in the air!!!
Apart from that I have generally tidied up and now I am going to cl**** the bathroom. Oh and I went through husbands sock and undies drawer because he just will not throw out socks and undies that have holes in or are faded and old so I do it when he is not around.
This afternoon I am off to my storage unit and we are going to put the two spare beds in there, they are fold up ones which have been living under our bed. If we have the three GC together in the future I will have to go and retrieve one but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. I also have to get some stuff for T2S which reminds me I must make a list.
Good news last night, husband was checking his roster for work and thank you someone, his night shift has been taken! They can swap shifts using an electronic system. He has only ever done one night in 15 years and it looked like this one was going to stock. He hates late shifts as well. It is difficult at this time of year because there are so many women working three who work their shifts around children and in the summer they kind of rule the roost on the shift side of things. His night shift was going to be Wednesday night so he would have come back home Thursday morning and had a few hours sleep before we headed off to Stratford for T2S, we stay of the night before, it is better than travelling up there early morning dragging all the stuff with us.If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together
