Not only does fermentation enhance food preservation, but eating fermented foods can also boost the number of beneficial bacteria, or probiotics, in your gut. Fermentation is a process in which bacteria and yeast break down sugars.

Poor Glamma, her body was totally overwhelmed wasn't it. All so sad at any age but she was only 4 years older than me. It's no age.

Things were more complicated than anticipated this afternoon!
DD1 ran into a shiny BMW in Tesco car park No one hurt but her car was undrivable. She had to hang about for the garage so Grandma to the rescue.
Luckily GS1 has drama club after school today so I was able to go there with GS2 to pick him up. GS2 found this very exciting! In the meantime DD had got home so we dropped GS1 off and the two boys spent some time together.
This meant less time for GS2 at our house , and his dad had to pick him up a bit earlier than usual. So GS wasn't happy about that!

              Poor Glamma.

I had a lovely quiet morning until about 11is.Hubby came home,DS1 and GD2 arrived.
While i was on my own i made 3 pies. Similar to cottage pie,but they are corned beef onion, beans topped with mashed potato.
2 have gone in the freezer. We aren't going out tomorrow, hubby wants to do some sorting out in the garage, so 1 pie is in the fridge for tomorrows dinner.

Daisy, they did GD2 car in the garage with the heating on.It gets lovely and warm.

Gem,glad nobody was hurt in the accident.

Oma, we have those gremlins that leave crumbs in the cutlery drawer.

Hope the car doesn’t cost too much to fix , I know insurance covers most but there is alway excess isn’t there.
Is GS still ok going to his club after last week ?

Oma that club is Tuesday night and not held at school. He talked about what happened on the way home. I think he will go next week, I hope so .
I think DD is more concerned about how much her insurance will increase after this!

Lizzie, the fermentation process sounds interesting. I know it's supposed to be very good for you, but I've only ever tried shop-bought sauerkraut and it always tastes rather vinegary. I'm sure what you and Oma like is quite different. From ice to 20+!! I was talking to a friend who lives in France (not in the south though) and he said it had been 14/15 there one day this week.

Gem, I can understand your GS thinking a 40 minute drive was a long time. Isn't Baby E at a lovely age! Each stage brings something new, and they are such a delight.

Mimi, if I'd put sheets out to dry today they would have been as stiff as boards, and I'd have had to saw them off the clothes line! . I never watched Waiting for God, but I'm sure you are nothing like the character of Diana! But, perhaps OH should watch what he says, just in case he oversteps the mark and you have a ready weapon to hand. . Seriously, did it help with your walking? Did you feel safer? I hope you got 3 apples as well as the coffee!

Oma, I'm sure your DD will always be checking her phone - no matter how sensible and capable our children and GCs are we never stop worrying about them. I think you're very sensible about wanting a good light in the hallway as well as on the stairs. Mind you, I don't think it was quite so sensible to climb on the utility work tops to clean the tops of the cupboards, even with B there to catch you! Tut, tut.

Plant, what a lot of confusion about your phone call and the prescription. OH and I find this with his eye appointments. Medically it's all great but it's not unusual for him to received 3 letters on the same day, saying his next appointment is on 3 different days at different times and we have to ring up and find which letter is the real one and which are the imposters!

Gem, sorry I meant to say your poor DD1. It's such a shock and happens so quickly. Thank goodness no-one was injured, but such a nuisance that her car is undriveable. Was the other car ok to drive?

Poor Glamm. Everything was stacked against her, wasn't it. It sounds as though she had very good care, but all those conditions must have overwhelmed her body. I still can't really believe it.

I remember how delighted she was with her outfit for Ladies' Day at Aintree, and she really did live up to her Forum name - very glamorous, and looking lovely.

Good morning. No frost this morning.

Not going out today, hubby wants to tidy the garage up.

Dinner is one of the pies I made yesterday.

I'm sure I'll find plenty to do, starting with the ironing.

                          Have a good day ladies.

Good morning Nan2 and everyone else.

It's above freezing this morning, yay!

No plans here. I may go into the village as I need some birthday cards. If OH comes with me I'll treat her to a coffee

We are on hand in case DD1 needs driving anywhere. Her policy covers a hire car but I'm not sure when or how she gets one

Happy Saturday. This has been a difficult week with the loss of dear Glamma, Daisy's DS's operation and waiting for results and Plant waiting for her procedure.
Everyone deserves a peaceful weekend xx

No plans for me either Gemini, I have just had a Face Time with GD and now need to get showered and dressed. No other plans today.

Gemini, so sorry to hear your DD has had a car accident, I hope she can get it sorted soon as she needs her car. Was the road icy?

Daisy, Glamm loved clothes, she was a very smart lady.

Nanto, don’t look for things to do, have a day off.

Plant, it wasn't icy. It was in Tesco car park so low impact I imagine. A fair bit of damage to both cars though .
