I expect most people are watching the final episode of Happy Valley. My OH has recorded the whole series and will probably binge watch. I might watch it as well - I'll see how it goes.

We had a lovely time with our visitors today, and I think they enjoyed themselves as well. I'd prepared virtually all the dinner beforehand. I cooked the veg while OH mashed potatoes . I'd put the casserole in just before everyone arrived, and reheated the apple tart while we ate the main course. I made chocolate mousse last night and just added whipped cream to the top today. Eva got spoiled by everyone and was a little show-off with her noisiest toys!

But I think I need an early night. Sleep well everyone.

Sun is shining, but its very fresh out there.

Daisy,we did enjoy our dinner yesterday.
The meal you made sounds scrummy.

Plant, you must have been shattered after looking after H.

Oma, Finn reminds me of our Tommie, they both always have a smile on their faces.

I thnik dinner will be chargrilled chicken with baby potatoes.Haven't decided what veg yet.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Good morning ladies. A new week!

What a tiring day Plant. You are a good GG.

Very tiring when babies have wakeful nights Oma. GS3 is doing fairly well at the moment.

Your meal sounds lovely Daisy, I'm sure all enjoyed it!

DD3 and baby will be here for the day again. I am working this afternoon, the friend cashing in the first treatment of her gift voucher.
I think dinner will be chicken casserole. I just need to defrost that and make baked potatoes and some extra veg later.

        Have a good day everyone.

Good Monday morning everyone. We've had a heavy frost overnight, but the sun's shining now.

Oma, fingers crossed for you that this time your bloods will be better. I agree about Midwives last night. OH and I both wondered if the little dog had absconded from Doc Martin!

Gem, You need an easy dinner with working this afternoon. How is the work going at DD3's house? I know you love having her and little E coming over to you, but it sounds like a big job they're having. Will you enjoy doing your reflexology this afternoon?

            Nanto, chargrilled chicken sounds delicious.

No particular plans for me today. I've got some odds and end of paperwork that have been on my desk for a while, so I might deal with those. Eva needs a good long walk, but I'm going to wait and see if it warms up later.

Wow, Happy Valley finished with a bang. I love watching James Norton whatever he does. Dil popped in yesterday and played with H, she would have liked a girl but that pregnancy ended with the little girl dying in the womb, not a nice time for her. GD1 and her OH had a good sleep, they took a covid test just in case. I have a dental appt later and I need a few bits from Waitrose which is quite near to the dentist. DD and OH will be back later, probably this evening.

Daisy, that meal sounds delicious, I bet you had lots of compliments. I used to love cooking for guests but not now. Paperwork tends to creep up on you, I feel very virtuous after I get on and sort it out. Love a clean desk.

Gemini, how nice for you to see so much of your new GS, I hope their home will be sorted soon. DD’s do like the support of their mothers.

Oma, I do hope your bloods are okay. Midwives was lovely with the little dog being hidden. Interesting about the Welfare State.

Nanto, as usual your meal sounds delicious, your OH is a lucky man. Does he cook?

Good morning, I don't want to read too many posts in case I read what happened on Happy Valley! Sad!

I have been to the hospital with GD1 and her plaster has been removed, she was so pleased, she asked if she could eat here today then stay the night, we checked with her parents and it is fine. She had a bit of bother at school last week, her parents got her a North Face jacket for Christmas, it was stolen at school on Wednesday, she daren't tell her parents, the next day the young (14) thief wore the jacket to school! GD1 got the staff involved, then, she had to prove is was her jacket, the first proof she had was that she is 6 ft tall and the girl hardly 5 ft so it wasn't exactly her size, then she remembered an earring had broken and she had put it in the inside pocket, the girl had emptied all the pockets but not that one, so, after a lot of sorting out the coat was returned, DIL phoned the school as they didn't seem to be any punishment, they told her the girl is only 14 years old, yes, and a thief!

I will catch up when I have watched Happy Valley!

My niece just text she’s a nursery teacher ,
This morning she asked a little girl if she had a nice weekend and did she do anything nice ,
                  The little girl replied ,
Well I got up got dressed and played with my toys and Daddy had a big poo

                  well she did ask 🤣🤣🤣

Oma, kids will tell you anything

Lizzie, I'm glad GD has her plaster off. Strange way for the school to deal with behaviour like that. That girl is almost bound to go on to steal more .
We haven't given away too much about Happy Valley here but it would be a good idea to watch it as soon as you can to avoid Spoilers!

Plant I hope all went smoothly at the dentist.

Daisy, we really love having DD and GS here. I love spending more time with DD before she goes back to work and of course being with the baby. It will be nice to have the house to ourselves a bit more though!
They have had the bathroom made bigger, new wall etc, had a new loft hatch and ladder and are having a bathroom suite installed. Also roof repairs and velux, but those are put on hold until summer. It MAY be finished by the end of this week.
I wasn't really looking forward to doing the reflexology to be honest, but it all went well.

DD and baby have left to collect daddy from work. Baby had lots of diarrhoea-ey nappies today and been sick a few times. He had an unsettled night but seems well and happy otherwise.. They gave him egg for the first time at the weekend so DD wonders if it could be that.

Lizzie, I'm pleased your GD1's plaster is off. Has she got some physio exercises to strengthen her muscles again? The saga of her jacket is unbelievable. What a good job your GD remembered about the broken earring in the inner pocket. The school might not tell GD1 what action they have taken, but at the very least they should surely have the girl's parents in to discuss the matter. The girl has surely taken it home and her parents would have seen it.

Oma, that is so funny. I bet the little girl's dad would have been mortified if he knew what she'd said!

Plant, I bet GD1 and her OH feel much better for catching up on sleep yesterday while H was having fun with Great Granny. Are they feeling better? How did it go at the dentists? I like cooking for guests, but try to do more preparation and cooking the day before if I can.

Gem, DD3 and family will have a lovely new bathroom to enjoy very soon. I know you will miss seeing baby E quite so much, but I'm sure it has also been quite busy for you. Poor little baby, having a tummy upset. Perhaps it was the egg. Glad the reflexology went well, but perhaps it confirms that you made the right decision to retire when you did.

I haven't seen any of the Happy Valley episodes in this series, so I'll try and avoid any spoilers that crop up!

So much for intending to do paperwork this morning! I didn't feel like it, and just pottered round, watched Homes under the Hammer - the poor lady who quite literally accidentally bid on, and won, the wrong house! I dozed off in the chair after lunch and didn't wake until turned 3 o'clock, so I took Eva out for a long walk. It was very quiet in the Forest so I let her off lead for a good run round, which she loved.

I was tied again by the time we got home - about 1 ½ hrs later. I made a quick dinner as OH had to go out this evening, and am ready for an early night!

                      Sleep well everyone. xx

Good morning. I expected it to be really cold, but it isn't.

Lizzie, pleased GD has got the plaster off. Glad she got her coat back.
The school don't seem to be bothered about theft. I wonder if the parents asked her where she got it from.

Gem,it could have been the egg that upset him.Our youngest was about 2, before he could he eat egg, without the upset.

Jacket potato with cheese and beans today, followed by rice pudding.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

                          Good morning everyone.

Daisy you need that nap. I hope you slept well last night.

The Turkey-Syria earthquake is so distressing isn't it? Let's hope more people can be rescued.

DD and GS3 coming here again today. I think they are going to meet me at the library and we will have lunch in the cafe there. GS1 from school this afternoon.

it may be the egg but there is a bug doing the rounds again too , they will only know if they try him again poor baby .
nice to hear he’s still his lovely self ,
I agree with Daisy you were right to retire when you did , how’s the knee now ?

                            Daisy
you must have needed that sleep , thing is your constantly on the go it’s got to catch up with you at some time .
                            Be kind to yourself .

                            Lizzie
Thats shocking did this girls parents not question where she got the coat from ?
I was advised many years ago when my DS was in senior school to sew a little strip of ribbon or scrap of fabric inside a sleeve ,
Then if coats got mixed up or stolen no one would know it was there and it could easily be proved it’s yours .
I hope some punishment was given out or at least involve her parents .

                            Nanto
I have decided to have Mushroom omelette tonight , I woke up thinking about it so obviously im meant to have one 😁

                            Plant
How are GD and other half I hope H doesn’t get whatever they had
Did DD & SIL arrive home safely .

The Earthquakes are horrendous arnt they , all those poor people , I don’t pray but my thoughts are with them all .

We have been to pick the new toaster up ,
I did consider a Ninja to go with the rest of my Ninja stuff ,
But I really can’t justify £150 for a toaster , I know some people pay more my DD did for her Smeg toaster but no im not paying that .
Its Black goes with the rest and 4 slots only £30 from Asda it will do me 😁
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. It's flippin' cold here, Nanto, but at least it's sunny.

Nanto, do you make your own rice puddings?

Gem, you can't imagine the terror of being in an earthquake with buildings collapsing and great holes appearing in the ground. It's a busy day for you, but lovely that you get to spend precious time with two of your GSs, and DD3 as well, of course.

No plans for us today. I didn't wake up till 9 o'clock so I think I must have been tired. I'll take Eva out later this afternoon - it's too cold at the moment, despite the sunshine.

Has anybody heard from Clover - I wonder how she is, and hope she's coping with her treatment as well as possible.

Lizzie, your GD must be pleased to get that plaster off. I am pleased she got her jacket back but I wonder what will happen to the girl who stole it, she can’t go on doing that.

Gemini, I think it is possible that it was the egg that upset GS3. Have a nice lunch with DD3 and the little one. GS1 must have been very excited to see his picture on the comic.

DD and Sil got back from Normandy about 6pm, they have been missing GD2 but will not be looking after her until Friday. No treatment needed at the dentist, cheap visit.

Daisy, that busy weekend entertaining was probably tiring and you needed that rest. At least Eva got her walk.

Nanto, Jacket potato, cheese and beans sounds just what is needed on a cold day and not too much cooking for you.

Oma, I would liked to have seen the teachers face when the little one came out with that, as you say she did ask.
