Oma, I have had a balance problem in my right ear for a long time, I can’t sleep on my right side. My sister had shaky hands, it must be very frustrating. Have you worn your new coat yet. Is it long or short?.

Gemini, I hope your cold doesn’t get any worse. Enjoy your meal.

Daisy, well done getting some gardening done, I haven’t felt like getting out there yet, the borders are looking very sorry for themselves.

Mimi, I am sure your son was pleased to help out. Love lamb shanks.

I really must nip down to M&S Food Hall, I am out of veg and a few other bits. DD and Sil off to France in the morning, now they are both retired they have 7 holidays booked this year, 4 to their shared place in Normandy, I could go to DS and Dil to sleep but that is a bit of a hassle.

      Good morning,

Mimi, we all know the feeling! I have a lamp in the kitchen, I used to climb up and remove it to clean, now, I have to wait for DS2 and DIL to do it!! I couldn't hold it long enough to fit it back again either, I do like to do things myself, but, I have to accept it isn't always possible. I know how your DH feels, that is how my dizziness started, leaning my head too far back to look up! Then, I have 2 very heavy chairs, I certainly won't even try to move them again. I have a young neighbour, he always tells me to send him a message if I need help, I will remember one day.

I hope you are feeling better now Gem, DS1 brings me Olbas from the UK, my mother always used it.

It is a very cold wind, yesterday was lovely, well on the balcony it was, I got all the washing dried and had a look at the plants. I can understand you being out in the garden Daisy.

The shorter boots arrived, I could hardly get my foot in them so I returned them, whilst in the village I went to a shop for shoelaces, I had seen in the morning that they have a warehouse sale, I did see short fur lined boots but never really took much notice, I did yesterday afternoon, they were my size and reduced from €70 for €9. I had to ask the young lady if the price was right, unbelievable. I got them so I can take the other ones back this week. These are more what I wanted for on the bike.

Nanto, that sounds like my local garden centre, I went the other day and everything was being moved around.

Oma, enjoy the lunch, I am going to DS2's for lunch, I will see how the builders are getting on. They are having the entrance done, DS2 does a lot himself but it needed new floor etc etc.

If this works it is a photo of my friends penthouse, you can see some of the gardens they have. Cissy.jpg

Have a good Sunday everyone I have been AWOL most of the week still feeling a wee bit low and can't get myself moving in the right direction but I'll get there eventually.

Daisy such a good job in your garden mine is booked in for tidying next month with a local guy he will cut everything back and get my pots ready for spring.

Oma fancy having to replace the toaster will you be able to match it up with your kettle etc or do you need to replace both ?

I have read all the posts and am up to date with everyones news keep safe and warm ladies glamma xx

Nanto, I love your cute four-legged friends. Your garden centre sounds like the one Enfys and I go to (Enfys - it's time we met up for a coffee or lunch!xx) and they have a nice cafe and unusual cards, too. I hope the butchery department is as good.

Oma, navy is a good colour for a coat - more cheerful than black and goes with lots of other colours. I hope you're enjoying your Sunday lunch. The afternoon in the garden did me good - it gives me hope that Spring can't be far away.

Does your toaster match your kettle? My OH has a 'thing' about toasters. He complained for years that whatever toaster we had was rubbish and roasted one side of the bread more than the other. Personally, I think he was making a fuss about nothing, but in the end he "invested" in a Dualit 4 slice one. I have to say it is very good and does toast evenly, and OH is a happy bunny!

Gem, you're right - old age won't get us down - I hope! Ooh, I like Art Nouveau as well as Art Deco! Is this the start of a new hobby for you? I'm sure your evening out tonight will do you good, and no cooking is a bonus. I do hope your cold is soon better, especially before C and P are due to come for coffee. How is C?

Mimi - I love lamb shanks. Could you do an extra portion for me, please? It's interesting (and probably frustrating) what bits of us don't work so well when we get older - I'll start a thread on it as I'm sure we all have quite long lists!! Well done to your dS for coming to the rescue so quickly. Between you, Oma and me thigs seem to be getting explosive - your light, Oma's toaster and our light outside the front door. When that blew on Friday evening it took out the hall lights and one of the living room lights!

Plant, there's nothing to show for my gardening, apart from the patio being less messy. The other jobs haven't made any difference to the overall dismal state of our garden at this time of year.

Lizzie, you are certainly the GransRus champion bargain finder. Those boots sound perfect - just what you wanted, and at that price you could have got 2 pairs! Enjoy your lunch at DS2's. Have they still got a lot more to do on their home? Those roof gardens look amazing, and real sun traps.

Glamm, you will have your garden all ready for Spring while I'm still fighting the weeds and cutting back perennials. What are you going to put in your pots for spring colour?

I'm having a marathon dog-wash today! No, not Eva herself, but her towels, bedding etc. They all need a good wash and a blow on the line, so I'm hoping it stays fine.

Daisy, I did try another pair of boots on, sadly, too small!!! These were a bargain though! DS2 is having the huge entrance done, they showed me it, coming along nicely, the new doors were fitted yesterday, all the plastering is done and if all goes to plan the floor will be finished this week, then, that is the inside of the house finished. He will finish it off himself.

The friends roof garden is amazing, when they moved I thought they would miss the garden, this is much bigger. They have a house in Norway and spend a lot of time there, their DS2 lives there as well, when they are away the watering system etc keeps the plants looking so good.

Lizzie, it's amazing that your friend's roof garden is larger than their previous one. I wondered if it was very dry because of both sun and wind, but the automatic watering system obviously works well.

                    Lovely roof top Lizzie .
A great bargain with those boots 😁

I wore my new coat today it’s long line light weight but padded so very warm and comfortable not restricting like my heavy coat .

                    Daisy
luckily my toaster doesn’t match my kettle but I may buy the toaster to match ,
everything else is by Ninja except my toaster so may invest in the toaster too .

Had a lovely time with the family for lunch however the lunch wasn’t great ,
The potatoes were hard and the green beans and broccoli were swimming in butter , turned my stomach .

We have had meals at this place before that were fine but Sunday lunch was first time , I don’t think we would have it again.
This is the coat I bought

Oma, like the coat, I have a padded one in light brown or if you prefer, beige. I love it in the cold weather.

Lizzie, what an amazing rooftop garden.

Glamm, lovely to hear from you, having the garden smartened up will give you a lift. Mine is looking very drab.

Must have been the day for going our for lunch Oma! DD invited me and I didn't refuse. Only thing was I had to go and watch GS's football match beforehand! It wasn't too cold and the drizzle held off and there was a cafe at the ground, so we could get a coffee. They won and one of the lads said to me afterwards, We always win when you come to watch!! Didn't realise any of them noticed me! I've been promoted to mascot....as long as I wear my red coat!!! Haven't had a roast dinner for ages and it was lovely, but sadly, I had no room for a pudding

Garden is almost finished, lads coming back tomorrow to put the furniture back and than I can decide what to plant in the beds! I've noticed that the grass is beginning to grow where some of the rubbish bags etc were, but at the moment it is pretty muddy! It will be so much nicer having a paved patio rather than the rotten wooden one which was there previously. Only thing left ot do is get the outside of the house painted and hopefully ( decorator permitting) that'll be done in the Spring.

Hope that everyone is well and have a good evening ladies x

You will have to go to all the games now 😁
Just think when the spring and summer comes you will be able to sit on your lovely new patio and enjoy your garden

I didn’t have room for pudding either , didn’t eat much of the dinner but what I did eat filled me , I did have a spoonful of SILs cheesecake , he ordered Baileys but when it came it didn’t taste or look like baileys so I tried it , it was delicious but it was mint chocolate nor Baileys , he still polished it off though 🤣

Oma, your new coat looks lovely - cosy but smart as well. It does look nice having small appliances in the kitchen matching each other, but the main thing is the toaster does a good job! What a shame lunch wasn't so great, but I'm sure you all enjoyed each other's company.

WeeGranny, you're definitely a star watching football in this cold weather, but how fantastic that you're the magic that makes GS's team win. I bet you can't wait to start getting plants in your 'new' garden. That's how I was last year! You will love having a nice patio to sit and enjoy your new garden.

It's been a busy day here. I got a couple of loads of washing done, but drizzle meant it had to go in the tumble dryer. Our dishwasher is leaving stainless steel saucepans and cutlery all marked and stained (not a good look for 'stainless' steel), so I cleaned all of that. After lunch I did well over half of the ironing. By now Eva was asking for 'something', so I wrapped up warm and took her out into the Forest for about 1 ½ hours. She had a run off lead at the campsite which is closed for the winter. It was 5.30 and properly dark when we got back. I made a stir fry for dinner and tried to help OH to work out how to do something on his phone. No success though!

I watched Call the Midwife. Did anyone else watch it tonight? Some of the sound was inaudible - we could hear one person in a conversation but not the other.

Hubby off to help his pal soon, so it will be a good day to get the bedding out for a blow.
