Oma, perhaps "not listening" to MIL is the answer! Fancy complaining about where you're put the washing basket!
Plant, a small electrical shop might be the best place to get what you want, but such a nuisance that you can't easily get there.
I've had a pretty lazy day today. It got very cold this afternoon, too chilly even to take Eva out, but she seemed quite happy snoozing on the sofa! I made toad in the hole for dinner - years since we last had it. It wasn't too bad but I should have used a slightly smaller pan for it.

Morning Nanto
I have a few hours this morning too
B off to Sunderland Hospital for his annual Liver scan at 11am
Daisy
you forget how big the Yorkshire pudding gets don’t you ,
We started doing toad in the hole in those little square tin foil dishes , just the right portion size otherwise the potions were huge 😁
Plant
Could you not order the fluorescent tube online that may be a easier option .
We have a small shop not far away who has been there for as long as anyone can remember , he sells everything must have stock in from 50 years ago 😁
I have done my housework and gave the bathroom a going over ,
Put drain cleaner down all the drains before bed last night , B gave them a good flush through this morning
not much else to do today so while he is at the Hospital I may tackle the under stairs cupboard .
Got a message from my niece this morning , my great nephew who had Autism and Asperger’s is training to be a chef ,
He had a interview for a under head chef position yesterday , did a trial shift and was offered the job instantly .
His parents are so proud of him as are we all 😁Im not fat just 6ft too small

I am going to look online for a replacement tube but I worried I will order the wrong one. National Trust meeting this afternoon. I hope B gets on okay.
I will pop back later. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Good Friday morning everyone.
Nanto that little chap put a smile on my face. Imagine if you were a rabbit being given a whole mug full of carrots for your breakfast! It's easier to get on with cleaning when there's no-one else in the house, isn't it!
Oma, but in your case - don't over do the cleaning and hurt your back again. I hope B's liver scan goes well. The little foil dishes sound a good idea. I could have used a small roasting tin but it's so long since I've made toad in the hole I couldn't remember what size I used.
What wonderful news about your great nephew getting such a senior job. I can imagine how pleased and proud you all must be - we were the same when our GS1 got that distinction.
Plant, when drains go wrong they're a nightmare, aren't they. Better to get someone in with the professional equipment and get them sorted. How is your SIL?
We've had a busy morning! Sainsbury's arrive 20 minutes early! She's a nice very young looking girl, and is always so pleasant, we didn't like to say anything. I was still in my dressing gown when she arrived so I quickly scrambled into jeans and a jumper. Just as she left the guys turned up to clear the gutters. They came over a week ago but everything was too frozen so they said they'd come back as soon as it wasn't frosty. Eva went out to say hello to them (he's the window cleaner's son and always makes a fuss of her) and wanted a mooch round the grass verge. OH was doing the bins so I watched her. By then I was really cold! Then she disappeared. She'd gone back to get another fuss from the lads.
So I'm off to get my shower now and start the day again!

Good morning everyone, the sun is actually out, still a cold wind but pleasant with it. I am going to Delft soon on the bike, for the medical, I heard this morning that I could have had it done where I do the coffee!! It was panic stations there this morning, pumping water out from under the floor! In fact, they were still pumping when I left. Everything was steamed up last week but everyone thought it was with it being cold outdoors. They have no idea as yet where it is coming from. Plant, I hope the drain clearing isn't as much work!
Oma, I hope all goes well with B.xx Well done to your great nephew, lovely when it works out like that.
Daisy, I do like the classes, the "moving better" one is good.
I will have something to eat and go to Delft. I may go and visit my friend later on.

I hope the blocked drain gets sorted Plant.
I would enjoy that dinner Nan2.
Phew Daisy what a busy day already!
I hope the medical goes OK Lizzie.

I loved the live streaming of The Crucible last night. I studied the play at O level and have seen it several times over the years and know it well. It was a brilliant production with great powerful performances. Hardly any traffic at all coming home so I was home in less that 10 minutes.
DD3 and baby have gone, having been here every day this week and the last two nights. We will miss them, especially the baby! DD has gone for day's work and its daddy day for the baby. They are in town at the moment. but the builder is leaving early today so they can go home when they are ready. They may be back next week at some point
School pick up for GD and GS2 this afternoon.

I have been for my medical, in and out in 5 minutes, they earn a fortune!!! I asked how long it would take before I could see the results on the site, she said usually 2 weeks, I arrived home and I received a message that the results were on the site! I have had a look and I have passed so I can apply for a license nearer to May. I don't know where they get the 4 months from.
I treated myself to fur lined boots from the AA shop, they were in the sale, my feet are frozen when I am on the bike to the gym etc, these are very popular and really good ones.

Good looking boots those Lizzie.
Nan2, it's good when time flies like that.
Good news about B's liver Oma. I hope it's more comfortable for you with the stitches out.
We have booked our flights to Portugal DD1 booked the villa last week, and they and we have booked flights from Leeds tonight. The other two families are still considering flying from other airports.
This cold hasn't got much worse so fingers crossed it doesn't. With one friend having chemotherapy and another with covid, a cold really isnt much to complain about!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Lizzie, so pleased you passed and can get your licence renewed. Those boots look ideal. I wear wellies a lot in the winter and have been trying to justify (to myself) the expense of Muck boots, but those look just as good. Are they fur-lined?
Nanto, time flies when you are enjoying yourself, doesn't it. A lovely way to spend a cold January afternoon.
Oma, so relieved to hear it was good news for B's liver. You must be really pleased the stitches are finally coming out - I bet you can't wait for a packet of crisps or something similar.
Gem, Portugal should be really nice. When are you going? Colds can make you feel miserable even though they aren't serious in themselves. I hope that's where yours stops and you start to feel better by tomorrow.
Talking about building work, there's a house in our road which is having a huge extension that seems to wrap round the whole building. The front walls of the house have been taken down, and today I noticed the back walls have as well. There's (still!) a roof and the side walls but it looks really weird to see a house like your own stripped of almost everything. The owners are living in a large motorhome in the back garden! Hopefully Gem, your DD's building work isn't that drastic.
Today had carried on being busy. I pushed the sucky up thing all over the house this morning and steam cleaned the kitchen, cloakroom and all the hard floors upstairs. We had a late lunch and then I took Eva out for walkies. By then it had gone very cold again and I was freezing despite several layers and fleece lined trousers. There was a beautiful sunset this evening, so I hope if means a nice day tomorrow.

Daisy the villa is in Praia da Luz, near Lagos on the Algarve. I have stayed in that area before.
We all love Portugal and apart from my OH who has been on a couple of golf holidays there with friends, none of us have been for several years.
Steady on with all the cleaning! Our hard floors are crying out to be steamed! A job for the weekend.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Good morning, Daisy, these boots are fur lined, but, I have ordered a shorter pair, they arrive today, I will see which are better for me, it is on the bike that I need them really, toes and ankles get cold. The longer ones are very popular with dog walkers etc here, they are waterproof as well as nice and warm. Treat yourself in the sales!!!!
Gem, you will be looking forward to the villa holiday, I recognise the resort. I was chatting to DB2 the other day, they are in Tunesia at the moment.
Oma, good news for B, for you as well with the stitches coming out.
I hope to get to the friend this morning, it was so cold yesterday afternoon I changed my mind.
