Well a unexpected very busy afternoon ,
Firstly we forgot we had someone coming for the yearly electricity check , he tests electrics and smoke alarms etc,
He was here almost a hour

Then the door went again and it was Martin Clare and Baby Finn ,
Such a nice surprise, Finn is turning himself over now but gets frustrated he can’t move after that ,
I held him up to see the tree and he tried to pull the baubles off shouting and laughing 😆

They were hear a while when GS turned up for his tea ,
They went home and GS stayed another hour ,

Then my hairdresser popped in for a cup of tea and a chat ,
She ended up staying till 7.30 and cut my hair while she was here ,saves me going Friday .

we have finally just sat down to watch telly . Was lovely seeing them all, we have laughed so much this afternoon 🤣

    Gem
Pleased the film was good , DS said GD wants to go see it , I will tell him it’s good .

    Lizzie
Sounds a good afternoon making Christmas centre pieces , enjoy your meal out x

I have just come home, the meal was very good, well organised, I met a lot of people I know, only, the one that organised it all was ill in bed with migraine! His friends were there doing all the serving etc, the meal was delicious, I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

You have had a busy afternoon Oma.

Oma, that was a lovely afternoon you had yesterday.

Lizzie, glad you had a lovely meal.Such a shame that the organiser was ill and couldn,t go.

A busy morning ahead for us. We are going to help a niece who needs some things moving in her house.
Her parents are picking us up later.

          Nanto
Be careful moving stuff you don’t want any injuries so near Christmas ,

Need to go to Matalan for a click &Collect order ,
I bought some soft top socks a couple weeks ago and wanted more but they were sold out in store , ordered online to our local store across the road so will go there sometime this morning ,

B is off for the yearly meeting with his old Army pals , so just me for lunch today.

          Nannycuddles
I watched the interview of your DS and partner showing their lottery check , what a nice couple , she doesn’t seem to have realised yet she still sounded shocked 😁

What are we all up to today , nice things I hope .

          Daisy

              Good Wednesday morning to everyone.

Just a quick 'hello'. We've got Cooper here for a sleepover tonight, as there are workmen making a lot of noise and dust at his house. We had a surprise phone call from some very good friends last night. They are passing through on their way to one of their sons for Christmas, so are going to drop in for a quick cuppa. They live in France, so we haven't seen them for quite a while, what with Covid and other things. So I'm just making mincepies and some biscuits or shortbread if I have time.

I must also get the cake marzipanned today. I'll hopefully catch up later, but hope everyone is ok.

Oma - yes it is today DIL1 has her eye operation. She's nervous and excited at the same time, and we've got everything crossed it works for her. She's never seen properly out of that eye, so it will be very strange at first I should think.

Hallo everyone, I mailed the friend to see if he was any better and to thank him for organising everything. He is feeling better today,he was sorry he missed it but got all photo's, films etc from the many helpers.

I had a sore eye early on at the gym, I couldn't see what it was, I have just removed a long hair, no wonder it was sore.

Daisy, how nice of the friends to call in and visit you, I bet they knew you would be baking for them!

Gem, enjoy aqua, then you visit to DD3.

Oma, you will be home now, alone! Have a peaceful day. If that is possible.

Nanto, you will be busy helping your niece.

I called in at a friends to drop their card off, I knew she would be home as I met her partner in the market. I was and we were sat chatting with coffee when her partner arrived so we all sat and had a lovely catch up, 3 hours later I was on my way home. It isn't very often I catch my friend at home, very unusual to catch them both together.

I had been to take a necklace to the jeweller in the market, I do like it and it broke yesterday, I was going to throw it out then noticed a pin was broken so I asked if it was worth repairing. I bought it when I worked at the charity shop years ago, I liked it and I think I paid €2 for it, one of the women told me it was from one of the cheaper dress stores, I told her I liked it, it didn't matter where it came from. Fast forward to the lady at the jewellers, she looked at me and said "it is solid silver so certainly worth repairing! I was pleasantly surprised. I have worn it a lot and never thought to look to see if it was silver or not.

Solid silver is definitely worth repairing Lizzie!

M&S was very busy but not as bad as I feared. I only wanted a few things.

On the way home I listened to DD1's first boyfriend who is a Productivity Guru on Radio 4 telling us that in fact we will never get to finish our To Do lists in our lifetime so we may as well relax a bit. I will take his advice

I am very late to the party today. I went to visit and take cards to a friend who lives in a MacCarthy and Stone flat, she is quite handicapped. I picked up some cards from her needing delivering in the village. The road out of the village To her was very slow moving so I decided to come home to have lunch and then set off to Waitrose to do a small shop. By the time I got back and unpacked the shopping I was exhausted. Sil who was looking after Harriet (don’t know where DD is) had the man there fixing the boiler so now they have heat, so I took over the childminding. Everything back to normal now so I can read your posts.

Oma, I saw the doctor and he said when I had my bloods taken by the nurse last week my Vitamin D was a bit high so I have to reduce the dose and to drink plenty of water, they will do anther test next week when I have my twice yearly Prolia injection for my bones. Lovely surprise visit from your in-laws and baby, they are gorgeous at that age and very entertaining.

Lizzie you are always busy busy. It does sound worth getting the necklace repaired.

Daisy, I hope you manage to get your cake marzipanned I do hope the operation on your Dil’s eye goes well and the result is good. How lovely to have some old friends to visit.

Too much vitamin D can be as bad as too little can’t it ,
Pleased to hear they have finally had the boiler fixed , seems to have taken a long time .

Nice to find out it’s Silver well worth repairing,
just shows what you can pick up in charity shops 😁

B has had a lovely time with his Army pals he has just came home ,
Me and Storm have enjoyed just being us two , he has slept by me most of the day apart from when I move and he thinks I’m getting food for him 😁

This morning while helping niece, we were listening to the radio, talking about the ambulance strikes.
Now, i don't mean this in an awful way,but i'm glad we don't have to worry about mam and dad now.
When i said this, this morning, everyone agreed with me.

Good evening ladies! I haven't had a great few weeks mentally and just haven't felt like contributing.

I just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas as I shall be flying off to join DS for a few days. I'm looking forward to seeing him again and having a change of scenery . I expect I shall be having to do some cooking as he's got a turkey and beef in! I think he's forgotten that I don't eat as much as him! DD is taking me to the airport tomorrow morning and I'm leaving my car at hers.

The garden is a mess at the moment, but will look great when it's finished. Thanks to the weather it's a bit behind schedule! So far we've uncovered four drains, two which seem to be in use, the other two seem to be redundant, an electricity cable which isn't earthed and a fence which needed replacing. Next year I'm doing nothing but relaxing!

I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas wherever you are and whatever you're up to. I hope too that all poorly people soon recover from illnesses or operations and that Santa brings you whatever's on your list. Love to you all xx

WeeGranny, I should think you are mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted after the past year. Time for some time-out. Have a lovely time with your DS and remember when you cook a serious chunk of meat it lasts for several later meals! Take care, take time to recharge your batteries and enjoy Christmas with your DS.

Nanto, it's a worry if someone is very frail and you can't get help if needed. You must have had your in-laws constantly on your mind, wondering if they were ok.

Plant, I didn't know that you could get problems with too much Vit D. I hope your bloods are ok next week. Is little H back to her usually sunny self now? I'm not surprised you were exhausted - shopping is tiring at the best of times, without fighting the winter weather and the Christmas crowds.

Gem, I like the hint about our To Do lists. Right up my street, although I am sometimes guilty of trying to tick off everything on the list and then some more as well.

Oma, that sounds like a nice lazy day for you and Storm. Glad B enjoyed his day with his Army pals.

Lizzie, how lovely to see both friends at the same time. You must be really pleased about the necklace. I prefer silver to gold (unless it's white gold, of course!)

I made my first batch of mince pies in the new oven and they turned out lovely - they were all eaten so they couldn't have been too bad! We had a really lovely afternoon with our friends - we've known them over 40 years and our boys all went to school together and we used to go on holiday together, so it was great to catch up.

Thank you for asking about DIL. She had her op late this afternoon and was allowed home early evening. She's in good spirits but tired, so I hope she sleeps well. The surgeon seemed happy with how the operation had gone and she's to see him again at lunch-time tomorrow. Both she and DS1 were exhausted!

DS2 and DIL2 have had their wood burner installed. They were very glad Cooper wasn't there to help. I'll take him back sometime tomorrow, but Sainsbury's are due first thing, so no lie in for us!

I ran out of time to marzipan the cake - it's now tomorrow's first job! I've cheated and bought rolled out marzipan and icing, so it won't take long. It's nowhere near as nice as making your own, but it saves a lot of time!
