I have just lost a posting!!!

Oma, watch what you are doing with hot tea!

I had a very painful thumb, it was throbbing in bed, I soaked it a few times in soda and it cleared it, I was trying to figure out what caused it, I had one "####" of a job opening a plastic bottle the other day, a piece of the plastic must have gone under my thumb nail.

Then the next evening I got out of bed too fast and the vertigo hit me, I didn't know where I was for a while and almost fell, I must now switch a light on before I get out to go to the toilet or whatever.

that reminds me of when we were young Mam would make likes of soup to use up stuff as we were not allowed to eat the shopping she bought it was for Christmas and not before 😁
I did the same when mine were young , don’t eat them biscuits they for Christmas eat the crappy plain ones 🤣🤣🤣

      Lizzie
Ouch that must have been sore going under your nail .

Bs sister just rang she’s been to MILs had to take her to Drs as she has another chest infection and sneezed and popped a rib she thinks.
Dr gave her antibiotics again , in my opinion he dishes them out to easy to her but what can you say ,
Said couldn’t feel a cracked rib but that’s not to say it isn’t , sending her for a X-ray but could take weeks for appointment ,
She won’t go , she won’t go for a chest X-ray so she won’t go for this .

Gem, that gingerbread house looks so professional. I bet GS2 was very proud of it, although I'm quite sure he had excellent support from grandma!

Oma, glad your cold isn't so bad, but do take it easy . I hope B's tooth repair holds. It's difficult to help your MIL if she won't go for x-rays or anything. She's perhaps worried about what they might say?

Ouch, Lizzie, that thumb must be sore. It's better to switch on a light if you get out of bed in the dark. I try not to because it wakes OH, but I have to climb round the dog's bed incase I step on her in the darkness. It's quite a pantomime!

Nanto, did your OH enjoy his favourite dinner?

Mimi, I hope your eldest DS is soon better. I use up odds and ends as well. Soup is such a good solution. Our Christmas food delivery is Thursday, so I must make sure the fridge is sorted by then.

A change of plans for me this week. DS2's wood burner isn't going to be installed until Wednesday, (instead of Tuesday), so I'll have to go and get Cooper on Wednesday morning, and possibly the GDs. DS and DIL are far from happy about the change of date when it's already over a month overdue, but they just want to get it done. But we've now put most of the decorations up and I've done some cleaning and washing. I must do the kitchen tomorrow and then I can start some baking. Although half the family might not make Christmas Day. DIL1 is having an operation on her eye on Wednesday and has to lie flat for 3 days afterwards. GS1 said he'll drive everyone down here late Christmas Eve, but he's now gone down with the flu. Hey ho, we'll see what tomorrow brings. I've just got back from taking Eva out - she was asking and seems ok - and got soaked again!

            Night, night everyone.

              Good morning to all.

Poor MIL Oma. And poor you burning yourself

Lizzie, thumbs hurt so much when they are injured. How is the vertigo today?

Thank you for the gingerbread house comments Nan2 and Daisy GS wanted me for some of the icing mixing and some of the piping (how do they get it so neat on Bake Off??!! Mostly it was his own work though. The kits are pricey but it is the second year he has done one at my house (With his sisters help last year) and enjoyed it very much. Next year he wants to make a whole gingerbread nativity scene

The library morning was really good. The library is looking fantastic, and I was able to chat to several people I know. There was real feel good atmosphere. I have volunteered to resume my Tuesday morning slot from January 3rd.

GS1 day today. I also had a reflexology treatment booked this morning (booked before I know it was the school holidays!) My reflexologist is poorly though so we have rescheduled. With my knees, back and hip I need that treatment! We are going to see the film of Matilda the musical. I loved the show when we saw it in London so I am looking forward to it In the interests of economy we are going to Wilko first for pick and Mix. £2 a cup there, instead of the exorbitant charges for a handful of sweets at Vue.
Sainsbury's delivery coming between 8 and 9 tonight. Better not get my PJs on early

I hope everyone is OK this morning.

                Good morning. Mild again today.

I saw my friend from a couple of streets away earlier, she was delivering a card.
We have been sat drinking coffee and put the world to rights as much as we can.

Oma, hope your burns are a bit less painful today.

Gem, pleased you had a good morning at the library.

Good morning, Gem, and all who follow. It's not raining at the moment, and still mild. Bliss.

Gem, well done to your GS, he really has done a good job and it looks as though you could have lovely gingerbread houses for years to come. I hope you don't have to wait too long for that reflexology treatment. Enjoy Matilda today. The photos of your new library looked great, but even more important is that community atmosphere - everyone involved must be delighted.

I must get the kitchen sorted out today - I hate working in an untidy kitchen, so a good clean and tidy and then on to some baking.

I hope everyone is ok. Chat later.

Good morning Nanto - you posted while I was typing. How nice to have an early morning chat. Thank you and Gem for the lovely graphics.

Good morning. It’s a lovely sunny morning here and not as cold thank goodness. I had Cooper yesterday and he’s here again today. The person who has him on a Tuesday is poorly so I said he could come here. Luckily my craft group, has finished for Christmas break otherwise I would have been out. He is, of course, fast asleep as usual so is no trouble.

Lizzie, go careful with that vertigo, especially at night. I have to sit upright for a few minutes before I get out of bed otherwise the room spins!

Spoke to a friend yesterday, haven’t seen her for a while. She rang to tell me she has given up driving,. She is 91, and has had so many accidents lately so I was relieved to hear that her children had finally been able to persuade her it might be time. It’s a shame but someone could have been badly hurt if she had continued. She is using taxis to get out and about and I said I’d pick her up and bring her to have coffee with me in the new year. I suppose it will come to us all at some point.

no plans for today other than housework……oh, Joy! Have a good day everyone.

Nan2, a catch up over coffee is always good.

Daisy, what are you baking today? For some reason I have decided not to make mince pies this year, so don't have that to do. Just the Christmas cake to marzipan and ice this week.
Some years I make sausage rolls and cupcakes as well as mince pies. For some reason I don't feel inclined this year!

I'm glad you didn't burn yourself this time Oma!

Enfys, thank goodness that lady has given up driving. I can see it must be hard to do so, there is much more independence when you can drive especially if your mobility is not so good. My auntie drove into her 80's. The day she was told her eyesight was no longer good enough she didn't get behind the wheel again. She is very sensible though!

GS and I are chilling out at home this morning, OH off to golf soon. We are going to the 1.25 showing of the film.

Enfys, it is a big decision to give up driving, not looking forward to it myself.

Gemini, your GS made a good job of the gingerbread house, he must be very proud. Sorry to hear you are in pain. Enjoy the Matilda film, I loved it.

Daisy, I can’t work in an untidy kitchen and clear up as I go along. I hope your Christmas guests will make Christmas. We have had more rain but sunny atm.

Lizzie, keep an eye on that thumb in case it gets infected. I keep a light on to slightly light up my bedroom as I am likely to need the loo in the night.

Oma, I must have missed the post about your burn, I hope it is less painful now. My sister had very shaky hands, I wonder what causes it.

I should be going to my Guiders Trefoil meeting this afternoon but the surgery phoned me to say a doctor wants to talk to me about my bloods so is phoning me this afternoon between 3and4. I did think I would make a quick trip to Trefoil but there are so many road closures locally I might get held up getting back in time. I presume the call is about my blood thinner tablets as I had a blood test last week.

Hallo everyone, my vertigo is improving, if I hold my head in position! The treatment helped and I have to go again on Friday. Enfys, the young man was telling me we should all wait to stand up as we get out of bed, plus put a light on!

I have just been to help make Christmas centre pieces, there were 12 there I think, I enjoyed it, there was plenty of green to work with and some good decorations were made.

Enfys, a lady out of the flat stopped driving, she will be 85 now, she has never accepted it and can't get out and about now, she has a mobility scooter, the men were altering her shed for a week as the garage were they should be was full, she tried it once, knocked the door out and that was it. When I was at DB'2 in the summer, he was telling me that his neighbour is one of twins, they are 93 years old, the one that lives in a local town visits twice a week, drives fine my DB said, he would say if it was otherwise.

Plant, I soaked my thumb in hot water with soda, that clears it all out, it has healed now.

Gem, the gingerbread house looked good. Enjoy the film I can remember going to the musical with GD1, she can't remember it. The new library will be nice, ours will be moving to the village centre, along with a theatre and a cultural centre, only, could take a few years yet.

                            Daisy, enjoy the baking.

Nanto, you would enjoy the chat, there was a new lady helping with the coffee etc this morning, I had to show her where everything is kept, she was very friends and when everyone had left we sat chatting.

I have the Christmas dinner tonight, I tried a skirt on this morning, the zip got stuck, I knew it would happen one day so I will put a new one in this afternoon.

Plant, hope the call with the doctor goes well.

Sound like a busy day for all of us.

Its turning cool now,the heating will be getting turned up soon.

Traffic was really busy on the way home. Glad to be in now its dark!
