Lizzie, I could imagine snuggling into either of your body warmers. You are very talented.

Gem, at least you can make up for lost time with wine now! The weather report looked pretty wet up there, so you did well not to get soaked. Finding such a nice place for lunch was a bonus. Quite a party tonight I should think. Enjoy xx

I've heard of Lord Sheraton, but now disappointed to find out "he's" a leather cleaning product!

Summer is definitely over - we've swapped to a big fluffy duvet instead of the skinny summer one! But at least I got most of the washing dried outside today.

Good morning, thanks ladies, I am pleased with the body warmer, now that it is finished!

Daisy, it is the same here, I have to change my duvet for a warmer one.

IF, all goes to plan, the men will get the glass fibre cables up here today, that is, if the neighbours under me are all at home. I know the ones just beneath me are going to Indonesia this month, the men could just catch them at home before they leave.

Well that's funerals attended, covid and flu vaccine done and dusted and new TV ordered and due to arrive today (Saturday) .

Friday was a cold wet horrible day and when we got back home the first thing I did was to put the heating on. I know energy bills have become ridiculously high we don't intend sitting here in the cold.
We will be very mindful about not being wasteful but we have always been (When I say we , I really mean me) careful about how much things cost and even though, especially through the 80's , we had a few times when we just managed to scrape through without running up huge bills.
I'm sort of grateful that we aren't trying to bring up a family now . When our children were little there wasn't so much pressure to keep up with all the latest gadgets because computers were only just trickling into household ownership.
Our two boys did own a games console and DD brought a DVD player with her first wage packet
I don't know how young families manage but then my mum used to say the very same thing.
But it's not just young people struggling, older people are feeling the strain. My friend who is in her 70's would love to downside her 3 bedroom house to a bungalow but she can't afford to.so she is left with a big house to keep warm . It's scary how things are getting worse with each passing day.

Keeping to the same theme, to tumble dry or not to tumble dry ? I won't use the tumble dryer unless absolutely necessary. I've always been a fan of drying washing outside.

Next week we have got a friend of DS coming to remove some branches off a tree in the garden., Unfortunately when we moved here the tree was dead but it has become a focal point in the corner of my garden if that makes sense, so we don't want to remove it completely as it has bird feeders hanging from its lower branches but there are a few upper branches that the birds like to perch on. and unfortunately my roatery washing line is directly underneath so the washing is in the direct firing line from any birds droppings ! 😠🥺
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

            Good morning everyone.

Mimi, I have thought that when I had 2 small children on one wage I do not know how we would have coped with these current rising prices. I really feel for families who are struggling.
We have 2 washing lines and can only use 2 thirds of each one, the rest being under the tree and in birds firing line!

Lizzie and Daisy, I think we will be swapping to the warmer duvet too.

We had a nice evening. The curry cooked by one of our friends ( with special no chili version for me ) was good, and my apple crumble went down well.
Ollie the dog was very excited to be with 8 aunties. We have to keep hold of our slippers or he walks off with them!

It looks a nicer day today. Ollie's mums are cooking breakfast for us all today.
Hopefully we will go for a walk by the river at some point.

            Happy Saturday ladies.

              Morning ladies
              Welcome to October,
Its wet as it rained all night but the sun is out and the rain has stopped for now ,

I was up early washed, polished, hoovered all through downstairs, kitchen cupboard doors given a good clean and did a dark wash.
Now having time to myself and a cuppa ,

              Gem
How are you feeling is your mouth ok today ? Hope you get out for your walk and enjoy the rest of the weekend .

              Lizzie
Fingers crossed your neighbour are in and the cable men can do their job.

              Mimi
We get our COVID jab tomorrow and flu jab Monday.

I often say I wouldn’t like to have small children to bring up now, it’s so expensive.
Food, clothes, not to mention all the technology they want , Christmas must be a nightmare,
Just buying for our 3 GC at Christmas costs us a fortune for a few things lord knows what it costs parents.

I am hoping to have a quiet day today after two busy days. I spent yesterday with GD and H, I needed to go to the garden centre, H had a lovely time running around looking at the start of the Christmas decorations, then food shopping in Waitrose, saw her daddy and stopped for a cuppa. H is here with DD and sil today and tomorrow so I shall see her again. Has anyone else had a problem in the kitchen with fruit flies this year, I dare not leave any fruit in the fruit bowl. I left some stewed apple in a saucepan with the lid on overnight but covered it with lid and an oven cloth, the little B’ s still managed to find a way in. My fly spray doesn’t seem to bother them, they just rest on a cupboard and come to life again.

Gemini, holiday sounds good, I am sure the little dog is loving having all you aunties. Hope you get some sunny weather, enjoy your wine.

Oma, I wish I had your energy in the morning, I am still half a

Oma, the men are busy up here now, I have just made them coffee.

Yes, I don't envy couples with children with everything being so expensive. GD1 will be 17 this month!! I always give them money, plus what they get all year round! I am not one for actual presents and never have been. DIL phoned yesterday and we are most probably all going out for meal on the night.

                    The men have finished now.

it’s habit, I don’t always feel energetic but I’m so used to doing things early I just get on with it,
Saturday is my deep clean day even though it really doesn’t need it ,
I did the ironing now I can’t be bothered to move so I’m not I’m just going to laze the rest of the day 😁

Bet H was fascinated with all the Christmas baubles 😁

At least the cables are done now ,
I think 17 yr olds appreciate money more than gifts, they can then go out and spend it on what they want can’t they,
A meal out as a family is always lovely 😊

Another busy morning here, and an unexpected visitor, so we haven't even started lunch yet!

Oma, you've already done a week's work this morning. You've earned a rest!

Lizzie, you won't know yourself with your new cabling. We're still waiting for ours, so I look forward to hearing how you get on.

Plant, how lovely - lots of time with little H. We seem to have had fewer fruit flies than usual, but I've been careful to keep ripening fruit covered or in the fridge and it seems to have worked. We've had fewer wasps as well which in a way is worrying.

Nanto, it's warmer here as well - and the sun's shining.

Gem, it sounds as though you are all having a lovely time. I love having breakfast made for me! Curry and apple crumble is good. You are all very well organised, although you probably didn't expect to have to keep an eye on your slippers! Ollie sounds like both Cooper and Missy next door. They both like a slipper. Cooper only ever takes my left slipper - heavens knows why! Enjoy your walk, hopefully in the sunshine. x

Mimi and Nanto, a lot of people seem to be saying they will prioritise heating, and I agree. I hate being cold. The warmer duvet was fantastic last night, so nice and cosy.

Mimi, I think being (fairly) careful is second nature to a lot of us. We were brought up by parents who had gone through the war, with shortages and rationing a way of life and they instilled money management into us. But things happen and you can still find the budget going haywire. We struggled in the 70s even though we had done nothing reckless or extravagant. Events outside our control can make life very hard, and I'm sure that's how a lot of people are feeling right now. It is very hard for young families and so many people seem to be taking on extra work to make ends meet.

Lizzie, glad the men have finished with the cables. Hope all is ok.

Nanto, the cables are in the house, they have to be fixed up to the wifi yet, they are coming for that on the 10th.

Lizzie, our cables are at the pavement so have to be fed through the front garden to the house, but we have already got ducting in place so they won't have to dig up our garden.

Nanto, did you do a lot of shopping in Wakefield?

OH has started painting his playroom, and DS1 and DIL called round this afternoon. They had been visiting DS1's cousin in Southampton so thought they'd drop in to see us. They ended up staying for tea and have just left. It was lovely to see them. In between visitor I managed to take Eva for a walk and do some gardening. But it's raining now, so not sure what tomorrow will bring.

Good morning. Dry just now,but don't know what the weather forecast is.

Daisy,we did a bit of shopping in Wakefield, then did the supermarket shopping in Sainsburys.
                                Lovely to have unexpected visitors.

Checked in the freezers yesterday, and we had no chicken meals.
This morning i've got chicken, leeks and mushrooms in the slow cooker, filling for some pies.
Tomorrow i will do chicken casserole for the freezer.

I think i might go and see how much washing is in the basket.
