    Good morning everyone.

    Lovely graphic Nan2.

GS1 will be here soon Oma so I will find out what he thinks of the baby.

As I still don't have great energy levels GS and I are going to the cinema and out to lunch today. Things which don't require a lot of walking! He has his martial arts class late afternoon too.

      Good morning everyone.

What a sweet graphic, Nanto. You do find some lovely ones. Jacket potatoes - yummy. they're almost the only thing I like lots of butter on.

Gem - I do hope your energy levels start to build up soon. What a nasty bug it was. Enjoy your day with GS1. I wonder what he will say about his new baby cousin. I hope DD3 is getting her strength back and managing to sleep between feeds.

Oma - I agree about salad - especially ready washed stuff. I find I do better with lettuces like cos or iceberg, but bags of rocket keep quite well as well.

Plant - it must be so strange when your DD and family are away, and very quiet. Are you going out today?

We haven't made any plans yet for today. The New Forest Show opens today and the roads will be gridlocked, which is a disincentive to go anywhere in the car! We haven't had breakfast yet, so no rush . I haven't taken Eva out either, but it's much cooler today. On Friday we are having more visitors! Another of OH's sisters-in-law and her DD are arriving, ready for the Diamond Anniversary lunch on Saturday. They will stay Friday and Saturday nights - so full house for us. It will be great to see them though. SIL's hubby (my OH's eldest brother) is very poorly and in a nursing home, so it will also be a bit of a break for SIL. We haven't seen her DD for about 10 years. Time flies by, doesn't it!

      Have a good day everyone.

Dentist check-up for me today, I will treat myself to lunch out. Very strange having the place to myself, so quiet. We are forecast rain today, might brighten up later.

Gemini, good idea to take things gently, GS will enjoy the cinema and lunch out with you.

Oma, I am not a great salad eater and find my lettuce doesn’t keep for long, only buy the small heart ones. I do eat the tomatoes but find most of them are tasteless and expensive. I didn’t realise you have long covid, that must be awful and very frustrating for a lady who likes to keep busy.

Nanto, lovely graphic. What variety of potato do you use for jacket potatoes. The red ones are so expensive.

DD3 had a really bad night with the baby. He seems to feed all night. She and SIL are exhausted, and have to drive to the midwife this afternoon ( when did midwives stop home visiting??) They are both too tired to drive safely. She wanted me to go over and hold the baby so they could rest. Apparently he won't settle unless held this morning so SIL was having to hold him. As I have GS1 all day I can't go. I did offer to take him with me but DD wasn't keen. OH was already on the golf course or she could have helped with the baby or looked after GS1.
DD2 has changed her plans and is heading over there now. DD's dad is able to drive them to the midwife this afternoon. If they need help this evening OH and I can go over.

DD2 is going to suggest that they stagger their rest times, rather than both being with the baby all the time.

I bought some of these in Sainsburys a few weeks ago , it wasn’t till I threw the roots out I thought I should have put them in a pot they would have grown again 😁

Good Morning everyone,I have missed a couple of days and am delighted to hear baby has arrived Gems please pass on my congratulations to your lovely family, they must be exhausted poor things such a good idea to stagger waking and sleeping times between them, hopefully it will get better very soon & a routine sorted out with little one,and such a lovely name one of my favourites to be honest.

I'm feeling slightly better now but still very tired and needing to rest every so often luckily I have no real plans for the next few days so can stay home and rest when I need to.

Oma you are so right about salads I have done as Plant does and only buy Little Gems and loose salad tomatoes or I find they go off so quickly if I buy a pack of vine toms & pack of mixed salad.

Oma you will never guess what has happened with soon to be xDIL she has only unfriended me & my DD on FB,just can't understand the reason as we have not had any contact the last couple of weeks,I'll ask DS when he comes around on Thursday I'm not going to ask her as I don't want her to think I am bothered about it aren't these girls strange.?

I was hoping to go to Liverpool to look in M&S & some of the other big stores as they all have sales on but Merseyside Travel have had a bus strike for the past week and it is not showing any signs of being called off so everyone is stuck this side of The Mersey unless you go by train but to get to the station you need to get a non excitant bus so we are all stranded,I know I have my car but as Daisy will know it is so difficult driving to Liverpool & parking.

Take care ladies and I will catch up soon xx

Dont give DIL the satisfaction of thinking your bothered she isn’t worth it , her loss not yours 🙄

We don’t like driving into Newcastle for same reason , not so bad Sunderland but we rarely go the parking isn’t good in either city .

Gemini, what a difference today after you have a baby, fancy having to visit the Health Visitor, you would think she would make one home visit. I don’t envy young mums today, they are too soon up and on their feet. Your DD Gemini had quite a bad time and she needs rest and getting to know her little one. I hope baby E settles into a routine soon.

Glamm, I suppose it was expected that your soon to be ex-Dil would take this action, what a strange young lady she is.

Lizzie, I quite envy you your lovely fresh veg and fruit, I don’t think I have any growers near me now.

Dentist visit went okay, I treated myself to a lunch out and then went to call on DS and GS3 and 4. GS4 sorted out the message on my car informing me I needed to check the tyres. GS4 (who you met in Birmingham) is hoping to find a flat in London with 2 friends, he has been wanting to move out of the family home for some time but needed someone to share with.

Clare had to go to the midwife too , I thought it was a one off but if your DD had to also it must be a new thing ,
Clare has had no appointment for a post natal examination either ,
I suggested she rang them after all she had a traumatic birth and should be checked she is healing .

Do new Mums get a health visitor now ? I’m not sure they do , they seem to be just abandoned once baby is born .

Your poor DD & SIL must be worn out staggering looking after baby could be the solution .
Finn doesn’t like laying down either he wants to be held upright all the time sleeps on their chest or shoulder .

Did DD 2 go and help ? They will be so unsure of themselves at the moment and lack of sleep is no help poor young couple ,
I hope they find their routine soon and things get easier xxx

I must have missed a post along the way, Gem, don't they have a maternity nurse for the first week? For the mother and baby? They do here, I know DIL's daughters had them for a week after the babies were born and I see the cars around the area daily.

Plant, I was on the bike this afternoon to go for my veg from the allotment man! I get my eggs from him as well, today he had green beans, beetroot, new potatoes etc and plenty of courgettes! He had different kinds of lettuce but I already had some go will get that next time.

Lizzie, no maternity nurses here, unless you were to hire one privately. Midwives did visit daily until 10 days after the birth , but it's all changed . They did visit DD the other day I think, but then you have to go to them!

Glamma, take your time. These viruses seem to really take it out of people.

I'm glad the dentist visit was OK Plant.

DD2 looked after the baby, who slept all the time, so his parents got a rest. She advised them to tell the hospital that they couldn't come in as they were both so tired etc. The community midwives then added them to their list. Maybe we just need to complain more!
However, the midwife was a bit concerned about baby's weight, and a touch of jaundice, so they ended up having to go into hospital anyway!
                                DD's dad drove them in.

They have given them some good advice about feeding him a bit more often and for now supplementing feeds with a top up bottle afterwards of either expressed or formula milk. DD is very committed to breast feeding, but this will help get his weight up, and shouldn't compromise breastfeeding. She has managed to express quite a lot of milk today. I presume they are going home tonight.

GS1 and I had a lovely day. We both enjoyed the film (Lightyear) and lunch very much. We played several games of Uno together this afternoon.
