Gem - last night's dinner sounds very tasty. I hope your mum enjoys her outing this afternoon. I hope the weather improves for you. We've got sun and cloud forecast for the next week, so not too bad. xx

Enjoy the sun Daisy, and feel free to send some our way

Mimi has been very quiet lately . I miss her posts, I hope all is OK. Maybe she's just busy enjoying the summer!

Good morning ladies , Just back from Sainsburys , the shelves are very bare , They are putting stuff like wine on them so they at least look less bare

Did a dark wash at 4.30 this morning got it dried in the tumble then stood and ironed about 6ish as B was up by then too .
So now i have nothing to do .

Its drizzle and cold here at the moment and like Nanto I think we are in for a week of it .

Gem hope its not too cold for your Mum and she has a nice day , The pork dinner sounds nice especially with home made Apple sauce

Daisy I didn't realise it was Bank holiday either , it all seems to blend into one these days

Lizzie are Bitterballen like meat balls ? I think we have had similar in Germany ,
Nice to find a handyman who can do your jobs , feed him cake so he keeps coming back

We couldnt decide what to have tonight so we settled on Bacon and Tomatoes and bought a Stottie cake from sainsburys ,
A Stottie is a very large round flat bread bun loved in the North east , it makes amazing Bacon sandwiches as it doesn't break up and mop up sauces

Oma, he works for the housing cooperation, I was going to cancel my service contract but he advised me to keep it on, he said what he had done this morning, almost 3 hour work, would cost a fortune if I got a joiner etc in, the door to the hall wouldn't close anymore, no wonder, all the layers of paint he had to sand off! Then a toilet that was dripping and a light switch that needed replacing.

          Bitterballs are these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitterballen.

Gem, I hope you have a nice day out with your mum. It is damp and drizzly here at the moment so hope it is better for you.

The stotties sounds good Oma, I have never heard of them.

I am going to go and get my mirror fixed onto the bike.

Very cloudy here, haven’t been out yet so do not know what the temperature might be. No plans for me today not that I know of. Nothing needing doing in the garden, it is that time before the annuals finish and before bulbs need planting in pots.

Daisy, good that the gardeners are working today, how long I wonder will it take. I love duck, haven’t had it for ages.

Gemini, I hope your mum enjoys her trip out, it must be lovely for her to feel the fresh air.

Lizzie, your poor neighbour, must have been quite a bad fall for you to hear it. I haven’t ever had Indonesian food.

                Hello again

It's not that warm here but it's dry with no rain forecast, and sun trying to peek through. Mum will be warmly dressed and we will take a warm fleecy blanket for her knees. I don't think we will be out that long to be honest it's just to get her a breath of fresh air and change of scene.

After smugly thinking we were getting sun and cloud this coming week, I notice the forecast has now been downgraded to mostly cloud! Boo hoo! But I'll certainly share any that comes our way with you all.

All this lovely food is making me peckish. I might just have to go and raid the cake tin.

Lizzie - it sounds like a wise decision to keep your maintenance contract going if it's that expensive to get workmen in.

Good morning to all on this chilly morning here on Merseyside its a big change from yesterday when the sun shone all day & was very warm.

I had a lazy day yesterday all plans went out of the window for some reason and I ended up watching TV most of the day I did however clean the floors (just in case anyone called to visit).

My DD called from Penrith on their way home from Scotland they had gone to see her pal who has a local pub there they met yrs ago when on holiday and have kept in touch ever since which is nice.

My neighbour Jim is still in hospital he is having difficulty walking on his own they will not allow him to come home until they are sure he can walk properly I have rung the hospital this am and they are transferring him to a rehab bed and try and arrange much more home help than he has at the moment he is refusing care home help but he may have to in the future.

This time of year I usually go to Liverpool for Beatles Week but even though everywhere is open and the bands are all playing in all the well known venues there is no way I would venture over with all the crowds its just not safe imo.I shall listen to the music on local radio they do a full commentary of what is going on over there.

Oliver has taken to staying out over the past few nights I know he is around as his food has been eaten I heard his bell at 6-30am and got up to see him but he had gone out of the catflap before I got into the kitchen he has not been back since,I went out at 11pm last night into Jim's garden and the garden next to that (empty bungalow) calling him in he turned up behind me and gave me a fright I carried him home he ate his food and went back out again !! naughty boy he is he has lovely comfy blankets in his bed but refuses to sleep in them.

Enjoy what you are doing today ladies and all take care of yourselves & loved ones.xx

Glamm - we all need a lazy day sometimes, and you have been very busy just lately. I think you are wise not going to Beatles Week this year. The big events seem to be where the Covid infections are rising (no surprise there, though!).

Naughty Oliver, quite literally staying out on the tiles overnight. At least he's coming back regularly for his meals. My DS1 and DIL's cat does this sometimes. She has a spell of staying out all night, then she starts staying in again. There's no knowing with cats, is there!

Poor Jim, he's obviously keen to keep his independence as much as he can. Hopefully the rehab will enable him to get more help with his walking and speed up his return home. I bed he's missing your Sunday roasts too much as well.

Glamma, Oliver is being a naughty stopout.

Oma, i have heard of stotties but never tried them.

Daisy, good the workmen are getting on with the garden.

Lizzie, nice to get all the jobs done.

Hubby and his brother went to a car boot sale this morning.
It's made it feel like it is Sunday.

Glamma, I suspect that cold dark nights will see Oliver staying close to home at nights!
Nan2, I can see why the car boot sale would make it seem like the weekend.

We had a nice trip out with mum and a bit less confusion on the way home than last time. She didn't want to come down for the staff when we arrived, but like last time she did for us. Next time we will go up rather than wait. She enjoyed being out and I think it will have done her good.

Gem - I'm glad you mum enjoyed her outing this afternoon. I'm sure it must to her good - it's such a pity that Covid happened just as she needed to go into a care home and couldn't have visitors or go out. Let's hope that can all remain in the past and she can look forward to lots more lovely outings.
