Nanto - I'm glad you were able to talk to your sister-in-law, but I'm sure you must be worried. I hope she's ok. Sending more hugs.

Dad's doing well to manage on his own with regular phone calls.

        Just started spotting with rain.

After mams scan and xray yesterday, they found she had gallstones, but they aren't going to do anything about them.
Thats why her skin had gone yellow.
She then told doctors not to bother doing anymore tests, scans or whatever, because she has had enough.
DNR is in place. She kept telling us on Monday she wanted to die.
Old people are living longer now, and i don't want to sound heartless, but in mams case she isn't living, shes just exsisting.
And thats how its been for quite a while now.

Sorry for all the doom and gloom from me this week.

Good morning, Nanto, I agree with you, that isn't living but existing. It isn't all doom and gloom but it must be very trying for you all.xx

It is very misty here, say foggy, I hope it clears so I can go for the bike ride. I have got the shopping done, discovered that my front light isn't working on my shopping bike so I will call in at the bike man here in the village.

Nanto - I'm sad to hear about your Mam. It's always hard. She's 96, her body is wearing out after a long life, but she's still a much-loved member of your family. You certainly don't sound heartless, but I remember the pain of having this conversation with my own mother - you want to say "don't give up, you're my mum" but her being peaceful and pain-free is a gift, in a way. Sending more hugs - we're here for the sad times, remember. xx

A quick 'good morning' from me. It's going to be a busy day! The men are starting on the back garden today! They offered, and we just want to get it done, so it's all systems go. OH has just moved the caravan out of the way so they can get through the back gate. But OH has to go and collect a new work bench he's just acquired for his shed, and it's GD1's 11th birthday today so we're going over to take her presents at tea time. And I need to empty the greenhouse and put various things in my tiny potting shed, but that's where they'll start taking the patio up for a new soakaway. Should be fun! They've very kindly offered to take the greenhouse down in the price and hopefully DS2 will soon be ready for it so we won't have to store it for long.

At least the sun is shining. I must get a shower and get going.

                Good morning ladies.

Nan2, I can understand how your MIL feels, they don't want tests and treatment at that age, just to be left alone. When my mum was in hospital for a broken hip last September they scanned her abdomen and found several large abdominal cysts. They said considering her age and frailty they wouldn't investigate further which we agreed with. I feel the same about my mum Nan2. She isn't really living and is very ready to go.
I hope all goes smoothly with the new patio Daisy. I hope your GD has a lovely birthday!

GS1 and I had a good day yesterday. I will write more about that when I have time.
I am going outdoor swimming today, near Harrogate
I haven't been swimming at all since our last trip to Majorca, over two years ago. Both DDs1 and 2 have taken their children to this pool this year. Today DD2 and I are taking all 3 GC. We are booked in for 1.30. I'm not happy exposing my body especially my legs in public, but you have to grit your teeth and just get on sometimes. I have slight worries about getting in - how easy or otherwise the steps will be with my knees etc, but fingers crossed!

                Have a good day everyone.

Busy, busy in your house, well garden really, Daisy. Hope it all goes smoothly and you get your sunny patch.

Gemini, I am very envious of your swim, I love outdoor heated pools.

Lizzie, how many bikes do you have or will have when you get your new one. My GS4 repairs bikes, he is so busy.

I have an hour long dental appt. this afternoon, not looking forward to it.

                    Morning ladies ,

Nanto we had the same thing with FIL , at the end it was no life for him and he was ready to go , He said himself he opened his eyes on a morning and was sad about still being here ,
At her age she doesn't need all this investigations its too much .

Gem I feel the same about my legs but I don't go swimming so no one is ever going to see them
But to be fair I bet there are worse sights than you THINK you are and no one bats a eyelid , just go to any beach on a hot day and you will see all shapes and sizes .

Plus these people are strangers your never going to see them again so why worry

Daisy my goodness its going to be hectic at yours today , take a before pic so you can compare when its done ,
Poor Eva wont know what's happening .
Is J's new work bench to replace one ? I cant imagine where he would put another one in his already busy full shed

Lizzie I hope the fog lifts as you need to test the bike don't you just to be doubly sure .

Plant good luck at the Dentist

We Have Storm today as usual on a Wednesday ,
DD and SIL have taken the day off but they are taking GS1 around car show rooms to have a look see what is out there and what he likes ,

B is going to Pressure hose the front paths he did the back yesterday , He was going to do the block paving on the drive too but I have said to leave that its a big messy job and he isn't up to that now ,
I will have it done by someone next spring and re sanded

Off to sort Storms lunch out i need to dice up some belly pork I got him and veg rice , be back later xxx

Nanto, your poor Mil, she has had enough messing around, how is your F in Law coping with the situation. Is he the same age?

How exciting for your GS Oma. It is a good thing to do some homework before buying. I am sure Storm will enjoy his lunch.

He's coping ok at the moment, but he knows the worst is to come.

We seem to be a busy bunch today!

Plant - I hope the dental appointment isn't as bad, or as expensive, as you fear.

Gem - enjoy your swim. Remember no-one's looking at you anyway, they're all far too worried about their own 'embarrassing' bits. Everybody has them.

Lizzie - good luck with the weather and the bike testing.

Oma - I've taken some 'before pics' this morning. You won't believe this, but J has spent the last few days sorting out his shed. It's all neat and tidy, with wood stored away in his wood store and a clear space to put in his new bench, and even space to walk round and room to work. It's a transformation! The bench isn't huge, but it's got everything he wants and replaces a sheet of wood between two old bedside tables. My OH is the original 'make do and mend' merchant. He's wanted one of these benches for ages but they are very expensive and this was only £150 second hand. He's just gone to collect it.

Eva has already fallen in love with the chap doing the garden - she's such a little tart!

                            Good Afternoon ladies.
Everyone is so busy doing bits and bobs,Daisy my John was very much a make do and mend chappy when I stripped the wallpaper in the hallway this week I found it had been pieced in so many places a bit like painting by numbers just so he didn't have to buy an extra roll of paper !!

Nant2 I am so glad your dad is coping its such a sad time for all concerned when my mum was poorly she asked for no further investigations etc as she just couldn't cope she just wanted to be left in peace and be pain free.Poor Jim my neighbour is having tests etc at the moment I just wish they would leave him alone he is 84 for goodness sake and doesn't need to be prodded and poked at his age he wants to come home now but they won't discharge him without 24hr care package which the family can't get into place at the minute.

Yesterday my hallway was finished my handyman did such a good job for me it looks ever so light & bright now he has to come back and rehang my large heavy mirror as he said the hook it was on will not be safe then I just have to rehang some favourite pictures that my little DGD hand painted for me when it was my birthday last year.

My friend from Liverpool is coming over again this week-end as we have both been invited to my handy-mans birthday barbecue Stuart was my John's best friend and was best man at his wedding they knew each other for many years so my friend is coming as my plus 1 it should be a good day if the weather stays nice.

Gems I am very jealous about the swimming in the New Year our local bath's will be opened again after some refurbishment but its all indoors I am looking to buy an "envigour8" pass which give's reduced price swimming for pensioners for 12mths.

Off now to attack some ironing its slowly piling up again I'll crack on with it whilst waiting for the kitchen floor fitters to arrive they where due between 10am-3pm so they may arrive soon hopefully.

                            Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

Plant, I will just have the new one and my shopping bike! It is 15 years old and very well used! My light did work, a cable had come loose.

                              Gem, enjoy the swimming.

Daisy, that was a quick start on the garden, I hope all goes well and you are soon sitting out in the sun! I need to go down and sort my work bench out, well the top of it, I seem to use it as a storage place, I was looking for something this morning and decided it needed sorting. I want to get my car cleaned in the morning, I have to stay home as I don't know what time they will be bringing the bike.

Oma, I had a good ride and ordered the bike, should be here by the end of september, now I may sleep tonight! Decision making in the middle of the night is not good for me.

Plant, good luck at the dentist.

Paths are now clean and B is washing the car now, well power washing it and drying it rather than a hand wash ,

Put Storms lunch down and he just sat and looked at it wouldn't touch the veg rice ,
So I had to pick all the diced up Belly pork out wash the bits of rice off , it took ages to get every little bit of meat clean
Then change the veg rice for Jasmin rice and Duck fat mixed in and he gobbled it down ,

He is so spoilt he knows what he wants and will sit there till he gets it the naughty boy ,
mind you I am stupid for standing picking meat from rice
I should have binned it and opened some Sardines for him instead .

He is now asleep and content

Popping down my elderly neighbours about 2.30 see how she is I will only stay 15 minutes I don't want to tire her out .
