Gem - add a tot of whisky to your lemon and honey!

Oma - even though Eva is 25% boxer she has no worries about the dark! She's very scent driven - she tracks as well as air scents. Last night there must have been some really exciting scents on the ground and it was a wonder she didn't scrape her nose she was that keen! She doesn't like going on the lawn when it's wet, but doesn't mind if she's out on a walk or like today at the paddock. There were two ladies chatting to our friend's neighbour right outside the paddock. One lady was on horseback the other had a dog and Eva kept putting her nose up in the air and running over to them even when she couldn't see them. We went over and had a chat as well in the end! I was a bit worried in case the horse was jumpy, but it was all fine.

Just waiting for dinner to cook - lamb shanks. Shop bought, but they smell good.

Jack frost here this morning, but the sun has risen.

Gem, hope the cold goes soon.
Oma, hope you get some relief from the pain. Thinking about those you saw in the sea yesterday. Brrrrr.
        Certainly braver than me.

          Good morning all.

Nan2 I'm with you. I love sea swimming, but rarely in the UK, and not in November!!
A chilly start here with frosty roofs. The sun is coming out now though.

OH is going for a walk with a golf pal later. No plans for me and I intend to stay in and nurse my cold.
I'm sure it will soon go thanks Nan2. Colds are no fun, but there are much worse things.
Were the lamb shanks good Daisy? We love lamb. I may do something like that for Christmas Eve.

A new week, and one in which we should get a better idea of what Christmas may hold. Have a good day everyone.

            Good morning ladies ,
I must say there is quite a nip in the air this morning ,
We have been to Sainsburys and Wilko this morning we were there for 8am ,

I wanted Post it notes wouldn't believe how hard it was to get any , no one seem to have them ,
I was looking for the ones in the little boxes but any would do , I did manage to get some in Wilko but just plain white little squares , they will have to do

I use them to jot down reminders and stuff like that , even the £ shop had none and they always have them ,

Gem how you feeling how's the throat ? , Best to stop in give yourself a rest its a excuse to do nothing

Nanto still in pain but im a brave little soldier

Daisy hope you enjoyed dinner did it taste as nice as it smelt ?

Gem I still haven't heard from FQ either I do hope she's ok , you don't like to pester though do you xx

              Morning Oma.
I don't think I have ever been into a shop at 8am. I must try it one day!
My throat's not so bad thank you. I think it will improve as the day goes on. I had a bit of a stuffy nose during the night so have been using Olbas Oil. OH hates the smell, but I think it's wonderful stuff and keep it in my bedside drawer in case of colds!

I have just remembered that is is the quiz tonight. Something I can do without risk of spreading my germs

                Good morning everyone.

I woke late - 9 am, and wondered why OH had left the light on the landing switched on last night - then I got up and realised it was the SUN shining through the yellow curtains on the landing window! Briefly the world looked a much better place. It's clouded over again now but at least it's dry and quite mild.

Gem - yes, you should definitely be resting and nursing that cold. I hope you've got lots of good films to watch. The lamb shanks were brilliant, and I'll definitely get more. The cooking instructions said cook in the oven for 50 minutes at Gas 7, but last time we had them they weren't very tender, so I put them on for an hour at Gas 4 in a proper casserole dish (not the little foil tray provided) and they were perfect. It sounds a great idea for Christmas Eve, and they have a very long 'use by' date because they're vacuum packed.

Nanto - I'm sure swimming in the cold, November sea is very good for you - but I'm not brave enough either!

Oma - it's it funny how simple things can suddenly seem to disappear from the shelves! You are a brave little soldier, but it will be much better if they can make you a pain-free busy soldier. xxx

I'm worried about FQ as well. But I'm sure she's just very busy. We're all coping with so much stuff at the moment, time seems to have gone haywire!

No plans for today apart from a load of washing. I might try and re-organise my painting things and put them in the dining room. I'm too nesh to sit in the summerhouse in the cold, and shivering doesn't make it easy to control a paint brush!

EDIT Gem, you posted while I was typing. Glad you're feeling a bit better. I love Olbas Oil as well. The quiz is something to look forward to. Take care. xxx

                  Morning all, lovely picture Nan2

You were up and about early this morning Oma . As for post notes would WH Smith sell them, oh hang on I don't think they are open because of lockdown.

Looking out the window this morning I was surprised to see the daffodils have started to break through the garden soil . What's going on ???

Must go its time to play Pop Master

A lovely day here, I got my plants packed in for the colder months. I still have a head cold, stuffy nose etc but must go and get some fresh air.

Gem, my mother swore by Olbas oil and I always use it as well, love the smell.

Daisy, painting in a cold summer house wouldn't be something you would enjoy doing.

Oma, you are like me for the early shopping! I haven't seen post notes for a long time, I do have a drawer full though, all colours!

Mimi, did you catch Pop Master? Did you see that show on BBC1 before Strictly starts? They have to guess the opening notes of top hits? One young man was sooooooo very good, between them they won almost £10,000.

Nanto, long ago I had a friend that swum in the sea or open water all year round, she would break the ice to swim in the canal, poor lady died young, enlarged heart. I don't know if that was because of all the strain from the cold swimming or not.

I was chatting to my nephew yesterday and he said his mum has to go into the hospital this week to have the fluid drained from behind her lungs, she did sound really ill when I phoned on Thursday, I will phone tomorrow as I know the biopsy was planned for today.

That friend of mine with cancer of the lung that has been having the immune therapy, she had a PET scan and her lung is clear! Amazing. She has problems from other parts but at least the cancer is clear.

I will go and have a bike ride, won't overdo it.

Lizzie, amazing news of your friend with lung cancer. Enjoy your bike ride, blow the cobwebs away and I think good to clear the head cold.

I have a nice box that holds a small pad, it is all used up now, I wonder if I will find a replacement notelets to go inside. Very useful, I need to jot things down these days.

After lunch I am going to fill the car with my card and paper rubbish, I might not take it until tomorrow.

Oh it's so nice to hear some positive news Lizzie. Even though she has other issues, your friend must be relieved with that news.
I hope your sister feels better when the fluid is drained.

Lizzie - pleased to hear some good news about your friend. I wonder if your sister's biopsy will have to wait until she's recovered from having the fluid drained. Sending them both best wishes. xx

I ordered Post-it Notes from Amazon a week or so ago - OH likes them - I didn't look to see if they had the little stacks of paper that go into a little box though. But you could always cut up some ordinary paper for the box.

Mimi - you reminded me I haven't listened to Pop Master for ages. It's incredible how good some of the contestants are. Do you get a lot right? I planted a couple of little violas in a pot of daffs this morning and was surprised to see some of the daffs just peeping through the soil.

Lizzie - we had a Labrador who would break the ice on water to go for a swim, but he had a thick fur coat to protect him. It must be shock to the system when it's that cold! Brrrrrr......

Plant - you must have needed the extra sleep. I didn't wake up till after 9 o'clock either!

I have one very happy grandson. He is 21 today. His parents bought him a car. He had absolutely no idea he was getting it. The down side is that the car is at their house and he is away at university. He can’t get it yet because of the lockdown and travel restrictions. He has seen pictures of it via their FaceTime call this morning. He is hoping to come home at the beginning of December. Lucky boy.
He is celebrating his birthday with his four housemates and a take away.
