    Good morning friends.

Better weather here too so far Nan2.
Sheep keeping the grass down Lizzie, what a good idea! Trip out for the sheep too
Clover, because I have several American friends and we hope to go there again, I closely follow the numbers over there. Alarming as you say. Many states (Florida for one) opened up far too much far too soon. Steady on with all that cleaning

Today is DD2's birthday. Where did those 42 years go to?! I offered to have the children today, and she and SIL are going out to breakfast. Whether the takeaway kind of they will brave inside I don't know. We are keeping the children here, then taking them home late afternoon so they can have birthday tea with their mum. We will get to go inside the house at last and GS will be very happy. He's been dying to show us his bigger bed! At 8ish other family members are coming, which of course means outside. We all bring our own chairs, drinks etc, and there will be an event shelter, in case of rain. With fairy lights and tea lights it should be a beautiful birthday evening.

    Have a good Friday everyone.

Good morning everyone, including Nanto's cheery friend.

It's a much better day here - so far. Fingers crossed it stays nice as we have some friends coming round for coffee this morning, and although I think we can now go in the house I'd rather stay in the garden. This afternoon we've got a play date with the GDs and both dogs in their garden. A busy day for us.

Lizzie - all those sheep should make short work of mowing the lawn! What a good idea. I hope it's drier today.

Clover - I'm glad your DD was able to stay with Finn - I'm sure it makes a difference. Good luck with the colour printer. What often happens is the ink jets become blocked by dried up ink. They're so expensive to replace it can be cheaper to buy a new printer, which I think is scandalous when we're trying to cut down on waste of all sorts.

The Covid situation in America is a real worry. My SIL and her OH live in a retirement complex which is very close to where the first cases were discovered in Seattle/Redmond. So far they've been ok, thank goodness, but they're now back in lockdown because two members of staff have tested positive. My SIL suffers from Alzheimers and will find it very difficult to adapt to the changing rules, and my BIL, who is a lovely, jovial gentleman who likes company and eating out will also be very disappointed, and as a retired doctor, probably very worried.

Gem - It's amazing how our children seem to get older and we don't! I do hope your DD has a lovely day - going out for breakfast is brilliant. Something I love to do in America! I bet GS will be excited all day waiting to show you his big boy's bed. I hope the weather stays nice for your evening 'do', but it sounds as though you're well prepared for all eventualities. Have a really lovely day with your family. xxx

Good morning, just a quick check in.

P has gone back to bed, he’s exhausted. The Marie Curie nurse comes in just after 8 and gets him washed and dressed, they have been wonderful and it’s nice to have someone coming in every day, again in the evening too. He has breakfast but then is so tired he goes back for a couple of hours.

I'm sitting here wondering what to do, I feel worn out today, all my muscles ache so I’m having a rest. But feel at a loose end........odd really. I took the chance to have a shower whilst the nurse was here which was good.

The sun is shining, so think I’ll have a wander round the garden later, tomatoes are growing but need more sun to ripen. All my sweet peas are growing well, they smell gorgeous, might pick a bunch to bring indoors. Otherwise, nothing much to do.....I have knitting and reading so that’s the plan. Have a good day everyone 🌞

Poor F, I hope he is in less pain today so he can go home, Clover. Those tickling sticks are very good for getting into places you can't reach, my two (one long, one short) are yellow, never seen a pink one.

Lizzie, what a good idea to have the sheep cutting the grass.

Nanto, love the graphic. Hope the in-laws are well

Sil and DD are going to visit his mother this afternoon, by appt. in the garden room of the Nursing Home. Apparently the food is really good but most of the residents are ga ga she says.

Oma, GS1 knows where he will get a welcome, can't help spoiling them.

Has anyone heard from Nana? I am a bit worried, she hasn't posted for some time. If you are looking in Nana, I hope all is well.

I have a very large click and collect from Waitrose this afternoon and a fish order from a company in Grimsby between 4 and 5p.m. so busy afternoon putting it all away. The fish comes fresh, packed in ice, It is lovely fish, very fresh and cheaper than Waitrose. I have to freeze it of course.

Jealous of your fish order Plant, when I was young my father was a long distance lorry driver and he was on the fish docks in Hull on a regular basis, often used to return home with very fresh fish, it was delicious! Plant, the nurses will be a great help. Give you time for yourself as well.

Having the sheep in the village is very good for the long grasses etc, they are often on the roads when moving onto another grazing ground.

The sun is still out and no rain as yet. GD upstairs doing her school work. There is some sort of Zoom thing at 1 which she is in now. GS very busy with dinosaurs and farms, and super excited about us taking them back later and keeps asking if we can really go inside 😊

Enfys Im glad you and P are getting help. Of course you feel in a strange place right now. Sending love.

Plant, fresh fish, how lovely! I haven't heard from Nana but notice her commenting on friends FB posts. She logs in here regularly, but hasn't posted for over a month 😮

                    Back to GS, talk later!

We have had a fine day so far, unpacked a very large order and it is all packed away, I don't think I have enough veg though, will have to get some next week. Now awaiting the fish order.

I am very peeved that they have taken away the free television licence from the over 75's, I know they have been threatening this for a time but bad timing I think. My Sil and DD have one so I am covered, well that is my story and I am going to stick with it. I am expecting a letter soon informing me that I need to buy a television licence but I shall inform them that there is already one at this address. Will you come and bail me out if I get arrested.

Plant - I agree the timing of the changes to the TV licence fees for us 0ver-75s is appalling. For some people it will be areal hardship to have to find that money again - there will be people who won't qualify for exemption from the fee, but are still very hard up and struggling. Your fish order sounds fantastic - you ca't beat really fresh fish.

Perhaps the licence fee should be based on the proportion of new programming they put out - there are so many repeats even in normal times.

We've had a dry day today - the sun has disappeared at times and then it was a bit chilly, but otherwise quite a nice day.

Enfys - it's a strange and difficult time for you - and I don't think any of us would know how we'd react. I think you've just got to go with your instincts and make sure you look after yourself. I'm so glad P is getting such good care and if you're feeling exhausted you need as much rest as you can get. Do you like listening to music - it might help you to relax those tense muscles. Sending my love and hugs to you both. xxx

Good morning, the TV licence fee will be a lot of money for the elderly, they are the age group that they need the TV to occupy them. We haven't paid a licence fee here since 1988, in 2000 there was a new law or something and it is now included in our taxes.

The sun is actually shining so I want to go for a bike ride, I went for some flowers on thursday morning, it rained so hard I was soaked to the skin! I saw that the display of my E bike is damp as well so if it doesn't dry up I will go to the shop this week as they are waterproof, the way the rain came down though I doubt if anything is waterproof.

The sun is shining this morning.

Going into town today, this will be our first proper visit since 14th March.

Just been out to put something in the bin. There was a package on the step outside the porch door.
Don't know how long its been there, could be all night for all we know.
We were expecting one for DS1, he has parcels sent here, with him being out at work all day.
There is a doorbell on the front door, back door and on the porch door, just checked and they are all working.
Neither of us heard one the doorbells ringing last night or this morning.
                              At least it was safe.

Good morning, Lizzie and Nanto and all who come later. What a lovely colourful graphic for a sunny July morning. Well - I hope it's sunny for everyone.

Enjoy your trip in to town, Nanto. I bet March seems like a lifetime away!

Thank goodness the parcel was still there. OH is waiting for one. The courier is one we haven't even heard of before, and the parcel is now 2 days late!

Lizzie - enjoy your bike ride.

Today I'm going to re-organise some of our kitchen and utility room cupboards. OH is out for a while this morning so I'm going to get started straight away. There's a load of darks in the washing machine which should dry outside - good - but create a pile of ironing -bad, very bad!
