Mimi - What a thoughtful description of grief. I know it's different for everyone, but it is a process, not a permanent way of being. I do think people losing their nearest and dearest in these awful times have a lot to contend with, and I hope your words help Clover and others who are suffering.

Such a good description Mimi and when you think about it it's very true .
You never forget you just become able to move forward with them safely in your heart . You then are able to smile and remember silly things loving things lovely things without that sadness that crushes you at the start xxIm not fat just 6ft too small

Mimi, that is a lovely and comforting description. Thank you.
Something which was said to me was that your grief is like a big white circle. At first that circle is enormous. It is all you can see, it fills your days and your life. That circle will never grow smaller and you will not forget the person you are grieving for. However, in time, gradually the rest of your life grows around the circle. Eventually the circle becomes a small part of the rest of your life, not the whole of it as it was at the beginning. I found these words comforting too, and have found them to be true.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Good morning all.
I’m here early to thank you all ,especially Mimi for your comforting words. I find myself going over three scenarios time and again. The first was the last time I saw G alive and waved goodbye to him. The second is the phone call to tell me that G had passed away and thirdly when I went to see him when he had passed . I then try to remember what my sister wrote in her card that G was at peace and safe with God.
The weather here this morning is dull and grey with the threat of more showers. It rained all night and most of yesterday afternoon.
I was planning to do some gardening but as I couldn’t I found myself wandering around and not able to decide what to do. I’d watched enough TV ,read a bit ,made an egg custard tart (to use up some eggs) but now I’m left with the prospect of eating it for the foreseeable future as it’s just me and it won’t freeze!I didn’t fancy doing knitting or my jigsaw. It was so frustrating.
I enjoyed watching The Great British Sewing Bee last night and wishing I was more skilled on the sewing front!
I Hope Gem and S managed their seaside trip and the rest of the birthday celebrations.
I must get on now as I try to stick to a flexible routine with routine chores
Have a good day ladies. Special love to Enfys.xx

Good morning Grannies. We've had rain overnight, and it looks like it's going to be one of those days that go from summer to winter via spring and autumn all in about half an hour!
Clover - you're very brave and coping so well in a situation none of us could ever have imagined. I'm so glad Mimi's words have brought some comfort to you. In time I'm sure you will add other scenarios, happier ones, like your wedding day, or the births of your children.
I watched the Great British Sewing Bee last night as well, and found myself thinking "I wish I could sew". Then I went to reply to an FB message and the adverts on the right side of the screen included a beginners' sewing group! But I'm busy trying to get to grips with some of the uses of acrylic paints and that leaves my brain cells aching.
I hope the rain holds off - I need to get the melons planted now the greenhouse is weeded and the beds dug over. Apart from that no plans so far.

Good morning everyone.
Nan2, I wish we could see a beautiful bird like that in our garden
Clover, It is natural that we keep going over things. There are several moments in my mum's last days before going into the care home which play on my mind.
In time things will seem more peaceful in your mind, and yes try to remember your sister said xx
We did get to the coast, wet and windy as it was! I had good day and will update on my birthday thread.
GD and GS2 day today. Hopefully GS will be tired after his day at nursery yesterday, as Grandma is tired after yesterday's unusually busy day!
An afternoon tea, a birthday treat, is being delivered from DD1 today She is not sure what time. We may put it aside until the children have gone and have it instead of an evening meal. There are lovely little cakes that DD3 made left over from last night, so the children will not suffer
Take care everyone, talk later.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Good morning Daisy, we posted at the same time.
DD1 gave OH a melon plant last night. She only has small plastic greenhouse and thinks it wont survive in her allotment, so it will go into our greenhouse.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Not looking very inviting outside. I am planning to sort out the paper and card that has piled up in the garage. I usually take my paper and card to the tip to save Sil. He has enough bins and paper of their own to take up the long track so I usually take mine to the tip after swimming about one a month. Because of lockdown I also have more cardboard boxes from items I have ordered on line, I need to flatten them. I know the tips are open and maybe the queues have lessened but I am not sure DD would approve of me going.
Egg custard tart, yummy Clover, perhaps a neighbour would like some. I love the Great British Sewing Bee, not sure who is going to win, I change my mind every week.

Plant - I can't decide who will win the GBSB either. They all have good days and not so good, although I think their 'not so goods' are brilliant!
Gem - Melons are hungry plants, but they do need to be in a greenhouse here, unless you make a super-hot melon bed on the allotment. I'm putting 3 plants in my 8 x 6 greenhouse and if they all grow they will fill it. Fingers crossed!

Good morning ladies.
Another wet day , days are dragging now , today is I think the first time I have felt a bit low , I'm just fed up stuck in like lots of others I suppose .
The excitement of the day is a Tesco delivery after lunch .
I didn't sleep well so I'm tired , it's taken me ages to dust around and hoover I just have no energy or enthusiasm today .
I'm sure I will bounce back in a few hours when I feel less tired and my body catches up with my brain
Have a good day ladies xxxIm not fat just 6ft too small

Oma - I think we're all having days when we feel we've got no incentive or energy to do anything. Take it easy, put your feet up and get B to feed you peeled grapes. You can always threaten him with the strawberry pea shooter! xxx

Take care Oma my dear friend. You have done amazingly well in keeping your spirits up. We are all having our down day and it is much harder for people like you and B confined for so long. Take it easy today. Maybe you could get hold of another jigsaw to do? There must be some online xxx“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Oma,sorry if I passed my 'down 'mood on to you. I should have been happy after the hospital appointment but I kept welling up and feeling really low. I do feel more positive this morning and hope that you'll soon feel better too. This weather isn't helping when you can't even have a walk round the garden.
Today I shall get the ironing out of the way and I have Zoom exercise class lined up for later.
Have a good day ladies whatever you're up to xxBelieve you can and you're halfway there.
