Just a quick hello as I am mid cooking lunch, he is having faggots and mushy peas (yuck) and I am having salad ( home grown lettuce) with chicken.

Again very poor turn out for clapping last night , just us this side of the road and a young woman with her two children. They were banging saucepan together and she was clapping whilst playing on full volume Captain Tom and Michael Ball singing You'll Nerver Walk Alone, which does seem nice except that she has just come back from visiting her boyfriend in Wales while leaving her two children with her sister. Is it just me or do you think it's a bit hypocritical of her ?

Must dash I can smell lunch cooking

    Keep safe ladies

Pleased to see you're all ok/ok-ish.

Just been talking to OH about the suggestions of asking on a local gp for empty ice-cream tubs. He said he'd rather me not do it as there's no guarantee they'd be virus free.

I don't understand how (in one of the Grans post's) children can go around giving out snacks. Numbers of people aren't decreasing clapping in our road but the length of time they clap for is. It's a pity isn't it, as 5mins isn't very long & it's not as tho we're going out anywhere.😂

Out of interest do you all just open up parcels delivered to your door as you normally would or do you treat them any differently? Good to hear we're over the peak.

Nana - it was my post about handing round nibbles. The children's mother is a consultant oncologist, so I'm sure she's on the ball about how everything is handled and no-one seems concerned about it, and it's the highlight of the week for several people living alone there.

I open parcels as usual (all two of them, I think) but then throw the packaging away and wash my hands.

But the bottles of milk on the doorstep I put in the sink, squirt washing up liquid over them and them lather it all up and give the bottles a good shampooing, including the foil tops, and then rinse and spray with Dettol Kitchen cleanser, dry on kitchen roll and put in the fridge. I think this process might be a bit OTT, but it's what I do!

What a pity about the ice cream tubs - I'm sure people would give them in a bag so you could tip them out into a bowl of hot soapy water, just in case. I'm sure you would make a beautiful job of the cribs.

Daisy I do the same with parcels. Discard the outer wrapping into the outside bin then wash hands. I generally just keep washing my hands, after I open the post, bring in shopping etc. I think one of our main safeguards is washing our hands as much as possible to be honest.
I wash all fruit and vegetables at the moment, including bananas and oranges. I have always washed all other fruits, but just erring on the side of caution at the moment.

I wipe all the shopping down with anti bac wipes before I put them in cupboard and fridge etc . Parcels I put boxes or bags straight in bin and wash my hands then if possible wipe whatever I have bought . Letters are put in shredder as soon as read and then wash my hands . I haven't bothered wiping any of my lovely sympathy cards , I figure they will have been in envelopes long enough for any potential germs to have died by time I open them it's just the envelope that wil have been handled by several people .
im doing the same with fruit Gem just being a little more careful . It does no harm doing so does it

I always wash fruit - things like apples, pears, oranges I wash as soon as I take them out of the bag and put them in the fruit bowl. I don't wash bananas though - never thought of it!

We put envelopes and other postal wrappers straight into the bin, and I go and wipe the letter box, door handles and door bell, plus the milk container every time someone has been to the house.

I agree, lots of hand washing is good, and probably the best way of staying as safe as we can.

Thanks for sharing what you do. I think I'll have to remember to wipe down the outside things more like the bell, letter box & handles etc.

                      Good morning all.

Daisy, I never wash bananas or oranges normally, but at the moment I do.
Nothing planned today, but we will pop over to my mums house. To check for post, check if the neighbours put her bin back in the garage, and inspect the mouse trap.

                      Have a good Saturday everyone.

Good morning ladies - what lovely cheerful graphics to greet us. Thank you.

It's sunny here at the moment, so hopefully Eva will get her run in the paddock at lunch-time. I might do a bit of housework (only a bit, I don't want to give anyone a shock!) But then, I might do gardening instead. Mmmm, decisions, decisions!

We'll be Skyping with the GDs at some point, so looking forward to that, and I'm just waiting for the dog food delivery before I get stuck into anything.

Gem - It's amazing what we feel needs washing since this pandemic, isn't it! But I don't think we can be too careful. I do worry though that for some people it will lead to OCD when the danger is over. It might be quite hard to break the habits.

Have the best Saturday possible, everyone. xx

Difficult to know what to wipe, I do wipe letters over and then wash my hands. I am ordering toiletries on line to save GD and put gloves on to unpack it and then wipe the contents. I keep a pair of leather gloves handy in the kitchen. It is a nightmare trying to remember to clean drawer handles that I have touched to get scissors out to undo a parcel.
