Had a nice evening next door, good food, lots of chat and a bit too much wine. GD1 and her boyfriend were there and there was a discussion about finding a flat together, that is the last one flying the nest. Nothing planned today, weather doesn't look too bad atm. just right for the London Marathon.
I can understand you feeling a bit down Gemini having to cancel plans for a break from routine. Will not be long now before DD is back from Canada.

Qwerty, it's an ill wind.
Yes, I think girls, especially, start getting hormonal around 9 - poor lass, she's obviously in trouble at home and might be in trouble with the Guide/Brownie leader for not turning up. (Sorry I don't know what age they start Guides).
Plant - nice easy day for you today after last night's merriment!
Gem - pleased to hear puss is ok. I hope your mum is ok, too.
I've done the lawn - goodness it was long. I'll have to do it again in a couple of days to get it back to a reasonable length.

Oh dear Qwerty,GD getting into trouble.
Spent the day doing housework.
Just brought the washing in,it's dried lovely.
Hubby spent this morning faffing about under the worktop where dishwasher is going.
It's going in a different place to where the other one was.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I will have to do our lawn again soon Daisy.
We didn't stay long at Mum's. Her ear is very blocked with probably ear wax and inner ear fluid. Poor thing is almost completely deaf atm. She won't help herself buy smoking less or opening a window however! She wasn't in the mood for company and more or less ignored OH!! No conversation without bellowing, and she has the snooker to watch, so we left quite soon, with me promising to make her an appointment as soon as possible. I phoned her when I got home to remind her to begin putting in olive oil her ears as they won't syringe unless you have done. Mum rang me a while later to say she can't find her dropper to put olive oil, so back I go tomorrow morning before I go out for the day. I do feel sorry for her, but Give Me Strength!!!!!
To cheer ourselves up OH and I went to M&S cafe for coffee and cake.
I'm so glad I have her, all this would be much harder alone!βA grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.β β Unknown

We did yes thanks!
I told Mum I will drop off some olive oil with dropper to her in the morning, before I go out. She's a late riser so I won't knock. If it won't go through the letterbox I told her to look on the doorstep!βA grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.β β Unknown

Gem - in a way, I'm saying poor mum, having a blocked ear is no fun at all, but she isn't helping herself which makes it much harder on you and S. Does she cope ok on the phone? I did wonder if she might be preoccupied with the snooker. You are very patient!! xx
I didn't get much done this afternoon - portioning up dog food, a bit of the dreaded hot hissy thing, then Eva was giving me meaningful looks every time we passed the shelf where her lead and harness live, so in the end we took er up to the paddock for a run round.
It was so beautiful there today. It's fenced and also has a mixed hedge all round. The bluebells are in full bloom all round the hedge and most of the area is given over to a wild flower meadow, so our friend has stopped mowing it - just keeping the paths mown. A few years ago wild orchids started to appear and they are doing really well now, and look beautiful, especially against the yellow of buttercups etc. Later the ox eye daisies will carpet the whole area . It's opened under the National Garden Scheme, in June, I think, and on alternate years he allows the wood turning club to set up a demonstration and display in aid of the local Hospice. If it carries on like this it will look amazing by then. We used to worry about Eva trampling on the flowers, but she's actually quite careful and keeps mostly to the paths, bless her. We're so lucky to be able to use it.
