Sorry to hear you're feeling 'unsettled' Qwerty. Does your OH having the odd cigar bother you? When I went to counselling the hardest part is keeping it going. You're taught coping strategies & somtimes you need reminding about them.

Oma I'm pleased that you enjoyed your break. Looks very swish. Time you were spoilt too.

Going to see hernia specialist tomoro (well Wednesday). I have a feeling there's going to be another op' in the pipeline. Bit nervous to be honest but I'll be fine when I get there.

            Good morning ladies.

I hope the snow goes away for you again soon Nan2. Dinner sounds good!
A friend of ours had a hernia op recently, B is unlucky having to have it more than once I would think?
Oma, what is the state of play for your wrist operation? Are they still waiting for your sugar levels to be right?
Qwerty, February is almost here, we are moving towards spring, I hope your OH can manage not to slip down too much, for both your sakes.
            I hope Grauntie is OK.

A free day for us. We have more or less finished the decorating now.
We want to drop in on auntie for a visit and put her recycling boxes out for tomorrows collection as they are getting full.
We may go to the carpet shop too, and I want to go to Aldi.

Have a good day everyone, keep warm and safe.

Oma, must have missed the post about your wrist, what is the problem.

Qwerty, sorry to hear you have worries about your OH again, does keeping him busy help?

Your hall etc sounds lovely, well done Gemini and S

White outside again, very icy too but very sunny. The window cleaners have just been and they say some parts of the roads are bad so I am going to stay put. I have an appt. for a warfarin check this morning but I will not be the only one who doesn't show up, I have tried to phone but the line is busy. We are forecast more snow tomorrow. It is DD's day for GGS,

                Morning all.

Just got back from blood test round at the surgery. We are lucky living so close, literally 5 minutes walk away.In fact I can see it’s roof from the back bedroom window.
It was very icy underfoot though it looked alright.

Nana I’m sorry you might have to have an op.I think it would be very unnatural not to be nervous about medical appointments. Once it is over you’ll know where you stand

Oma that’s another bonus of B’s 100% immune system. He’s able to have his op.That sounds a bit odd but you know what I mean.

Gem I wish I was in your position with the decorating. As you are having a new carpet did you have the old one taken up before you started or perhaps you didn’t have one.? I was wondering ,perhaps Oma knows as her SIL lays carpets, if a carpet firm would take up a carpet and then come back a couple of weeks later to fit a new one when the decorating is done? It would be much easier for the decorator without a carpet.

Qwerty I hope OH can keep the black dog at bay.

Plant, very wise to stay put.As I said at the beginning it is very icy. I had to unfreeze the birds’water this morning as a robin was in danger of breaking his beak trying to get a drink!

Plant, I'm not sure if it Oma's wrist or hand, but it is an ongoing problem. She couldn't have it until her blood sugar levels were right I seem to remember.
Good plan to stay put today!

I'm glad you didn't have far to go Clover.
One of the reasons we want to see my auntie today is that although she is now going to the local shop with her walker thing, it's not safe for her to atm.

Afternoon all. As OH was up at sparrows cough this morning, he has an appointment at Birmingham hospital and he had to get the 8.so train, so I got up as well . It was pointless staying in bed, what with the cat making a racket , OH muttering, where's my keys, what time is the taxi arriving ( told him several times ) shall I put the bin out ? Grrrrr at that point I got out of bed.
But on the plus side I have done three loads of washing and it is outside blowing in the sunshine, had a good tidy up, spoke to DD on the phone , went to Tesco for milk and bread and I have put a lamb hot pot in the oven

                    Qwerty

Oma how are your bloods, any nearer having your op ?

Keep warm everyone and take care if you have to go out
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Today,as I have remembered to bring a cardigan and my very warm slipper boots, DD has the heating on! Usually I am frozen until it comes on at 5 !!
Gem - if you are in your DD's house looking after grandchildren, can you override the timer on the heating. I really think in this wintery weather you shouldn't have to be cold while you are helping?

Does anyone else have this problem?

I turn my back for a couple of days and then am struggling to catch up with everyone's comings and goings, so please forgive me for getting hopelessly lost.

Hernia operations seem to be the fashionable thing just now! Poor B must be fed up if he's already had 3. My DS2 had one a couple of years ago, but fingers crossed it's been ok since.

There was an overnight frost here, but no snow, although our GDs were delighted to have a small scattering of the white stuff this morning, and it snowed on their way to school. Gem - I do hope you can drive home without having to cope with that. Last night when I went to dog training the gritters were out in force, so the roads were fine, but in fact even on the untreated side roads it didn't freeze. It must have put people off though as I drove home about 10.30 pm and saw hardly any other traffic.

As always my Tuesday was busy and I'd been awake most of the previous night with OH coughing for England. I've caught up though - I didn't wake up till nearly 9.30 this morning.

Oma - I'm sure you will end up with the perfect armchairs, and so glad you had a good evening away. The hotel looks gorgeous.

Mimi - I hope your OH's appointment goes well. You're very brave putting washing out in these temperatures. I don't even try when it's this cold.

Clover - we left our stair and landing carpet down when we had the decorators in. They didn't make any mess and managed to do the skirting boards with no trouble. It would save you having to be without carpet while the decorators are working. We're still thinking about replacing the carpet (this is the Royal We, by the way!)

Enfys - I do hope P is feeling better and the chemo side effects are improving. I'm sure it's hard to get him to take it easy, but it's the right thing to do. I'm interested to see you're looking for ideas for different meals. I get into an awful rut, and every so often and try and be more adventurous.

Qwerty - I'm sorry to hear OH is having a blip. It must drag you down too. Sending hugs.

                          Afternoon Ladies,
Nanto its Tomorrow B has to see surgeon

Plant its my Finger joints need replacing , They have to wait till my sugar is stable and its taking a very long time to do that plus as its non urgent its not priority now but I hope at some point after my next check in March I can see the surgeon again .

Clover the carpet company will do that but they charge a fair price , if your getting a new carpet its easier to take it up yourself , they are generally down in sections maybe 5 stairs in each section so not hard to get up and only down on grippers , but those are vicious little blighters so sharp if you stand on one it will rip holes in your feet , I have done it on several occasions so I leave mine till the last minute to take up .

Busy morning for us , did washing and dried that , then went to Morrisons and Aldi came back had lunch then did ironing ,

New headboard for spare room came today , wrong one again!!! not as tall as the one I ordered but it actually looks better when we tried it against bed so I rang and sorted a partial refund for the price difference and im happy with the result .

I have decided to paint the headboard Wall at the weekend , not so long since it was decorated but the sun was shining in this morning and where the big bed had been you can see a faint mark the shape of old headboard , it wont take long one coat should be enough .

Anyone going out in the cold be careful walking , The sun is shining hear now so any ice has gone but it was slippy this morning
                          Take care everyone xxx

Afternoon one and all thanks for your hugs and kind words I’ve written on YEO not because there is a need from me but answering questions from a few of you is better on there.
Gem I would be looking for the override button too it’s cold for the little ones too 😯
Good luck to all those with hospital appointments there does seem to be a lot at the moment
Be careful it’s slippy out there ladies or so I’m told
Clover I think you can get them to take up the carpet whilst you decorate they may make a charge for coming twice and the time it takes to take it up but it shouldnt be a fortune , do you have to get rid of it yourself, the last time we had a new carpet we had to get the council to come for the old one , or pay the carpet man to take it away , I think Oma is your best answer

                            Comment

Clover, sometimes the decorator will but out an edge of carpet by the carpet so that they can paint and then the carpet fitter will take it up and put the new one down and take the old carpet away. Good luck with the decorating.

The bit of snow we had has almost gone now.
Went to deliver a birthday present earlier. It was lovely to sit and have a natter and a cuppa.
Had something to eat when we got home.
I think the rest of the afternoon is my own now.
