Good afternoon all. Just finished washing up after lunch . We had lamb with mint sauce and the rhubarb with custard, very traditional.
Had a good morning in the garden but now my back is giving me jip.

Another Wiko fan here. I hope to get there some time this week to get some tulips, daffs and crocuses. I plan to put them in a big pot in layers in the hope that next spring I will have a continuous show of flowers .

Enfys I am going to put braising steak on the shopping list, you have reminded me that I used to cook them in the slow cooker. As you say they are very tender done that way.

Oma Newcastle Quay is lovely isn’t, I am very envious of you living so close.

Have a good Sunday ladies .
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

We had Braising steak done in the oven with onions and gravy and sliced potatoes on Thursday night . It's the only way I can eat steak 😊
        Had a lovely day ,
First we went to Newcastle Quay side spent a hour or so wandering along the stalls then into the Baltic for a coffee and look around the Art ,
We then had lunch and drove down to Sunderland to the beach ,it was absolutely boiling hot , Lots of people enjoying the last few days of the school holidays I think ,
Feet up with a cup of tea now and cooling down 😊

Evening all, you all sound quite well keep it up that is what I say, apart from Mimi bad backs are the stuff of nightmares . OH very tired today for some reason, eldest g/d didn’t hang about she was here by 2 pm and goes home tomorrow after tea , twins coming at some point 😌
Nanto we eat braising steak quite often with carrots and onions in with it as well as mushrooms I like it with mash amd sometimes chips with crusty bread to mop up the gravy
Oma sounds like you had a good day out it has been very warm here too I’ve done nothing today except the essentials still in holiday mode I think
Gem I love those late nights in the garden when it’s warm and balmy and you put the world to rights
Plant sounds like your getting back to normal with the car and all your activities , I am thinking of doing some form of structured exercise, either Pilates or aqua need to get off my bum !
Enfys I’m catching up with your posts it wasn’t the news I was hoping for when I came back but as others have said there are so many different chemos there has to be one that fits P, but glad he is staying positive
Doubt I will be on tomorrow with my lot descending so have a good Monday 😀

DS arrived yesterday morning. Flight landed early and he got through customs quite quickly so no hanging about Stansted. He'd treated(?)me to seats at the football in the afternoon. We got the train there as I didn't fancy driving and I have to say I quite enjoyed myself. The noise was unbelievable, fans with drums and chants going on all of the match. But Cambridge won and everyone was happy. We went to the chippie for dinner as I said there was no way I was cooking! Had a day of cooking today as well as we went out for Sunday lunch. Lovely beef for me and lamb for the menfolk. Haven't done much since we came home apart from a walk to work off lunch!

The calendar doesn't seem to have much on it for the week ahead, but no doubt it'll get filled up as we remember things. DS fancies going to the coast and as he now lives in a landlocked country it'll be a treat for him to have a paddle in the sea!!

Hope everyone has a good week and all goes well with those starting school.

p.s. Asked GS how the dog was....his reply : He's good, but he's been sick a few times! So I'm none the wiser really!

Forgot to say we had a drive over our new bridge the been building for 3 years over the River Wear
The named it the Northern Spire but everyone calls it the new bridge already I can't see it been called The Northern Spire by locals .

Oma - Newcastle Quay sounds lovely. I won't seed the lawn until Wednesday morning before we go away, then it's got 5 days to settle - or to give the birds undisturbed access to a magnificent feast!! Nice to have a warm day at the beach in September! I had to laugh at the new bridge name! We once moved to a village and everybody kept talking about the Pond - as in "meet you at the pond" "the bus stops at the pond" etc etc. I had no idea where this popular pond was, until someone explained it had been filled in about 20 years previously and was opposite one of the pubs and the village shop!!

Plant - you do get to visit some interesting places. Pleased Aqua is back on the agenda.

Gem - how lovely to still be able to sit outside until that time.

WeeGranny - I'm glad you enjoyed the football - I'm sure it helped that they won. Will you go for a paddle in the sea as well as your DS? Is your DS with you for just one week? I hope your GS was right about the doggy.

It's definitely the season for braising steak - I must give it a go!

We spent all afternoon making the lawn look heaps worse than it did - I'll write about it in Home & Garden.

Good morning. Very fresh here this morning, a real autumnal feel.

Off to the opticians this morning for DH to choose some new glasses. He wants me to go with him to help decide, doesn’t trust his own judgement 🤓. Then he wants to go and look at computers....yawn.....as he would like to upgrade ours. I will have to find something else to look at I think.

Otherwise, nothing else planned, we have Dexter here too so might be able to do some more tidying up outside, I need to clean out lots of flowerpots and get rid of some old ones, but we shall see. Have a good day everyone.

Oma thanks for the update on T, I did wonder if that was the reason for Libra to be going to stay. Do hope the news is good. Was your visit dependent on Dil going to work Oma?

My DD is starting a new job today, she has been a support assistant at one of our local girls Grammar Schools, supporting two blind girls, they have now gone off to University so she decided to leave as well. A local private school heard she was available and approached her as they were having a girl starting this year who is loosing her sight.

The trip to the Train Museum was great, had two rides on the train, looked around the museum, this was a WI organised trip. When I got home the family had just finished a BBQ and I had a lovely surprise, my GS2 was there, haven't seen him for a while and my GGS and his parents. GGS is growing fast and he has lots of words now, including snack when he is hungry. Off to bowls this afternoon. Bit overcast here.

What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Morning all. It’s a bit drizzly here this morning.

Plant Glad you enjoyed your museum trip.I love going out for the day especially if someone else organises it. Doesn’t happen for me these days sadly.

I do hope Libra’s DD gets something positive from her Neurologist visit.Won’t it be lovely when L is settled enough to join us again?

Gem I hope you have a lovely day out. I wonder where you’re going?.

Daisy I’m sure your lawn will be all the better for looking so sad now

I’ve been very good and had a session with the hissy before coming here to recover.Just having a hot chocolate before tackling the kitchen floor.

Warm and sunny here. DS gone off for walk along rive and OH gone to Tesco's, not sure what for!

Dasiy....DS is here until 22nd though he has a trip to Scotland and a visit to his sister's planned.

Fingers etc crossed for good news from Libra today.

Really must do a bit of dusting and hoovering today as the sun is showing up my lack of housewifey duties!

Last yoga session tonight as teacher is moving. Have really enjoyed this class, so am a bit sad it's finishing. Was just round corner from house so it was easy to get to.

Hope everyone has a good day whatever you're up to!
