Oma - Poor Libra. I do hope she slept well! Wow - that was a good night's sleep for you. I'm exhausted just reading what you've already done this morning. I hope your sister has a lovely birthday.

Do you think we should worry about Mimi after her Fawlty Towers evening!

Good morning all. Its still windy here but the rain isn't so heavy . Wales seems to have had a rough time with the weather , On the local news this morning Arriva Trains had changed some of its time table . At the moment if we want to go to Cardiff we would have to go on the bus as far as Newport and then get the train to Cardiff. I must see if DD is ok

Oma the meal is tonight .You have done a lot this morning but no to blow my own trumpet I have used that hot flat hissy thing this morning

Daisy I am hoping Basil doesn't pick on me !!

        Hope Libra slept well

Don't get blown over when you are out and about ladies
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Weather is quiet here now, Little frail old ladies were nearly getting blown over in the supermarket car park yesterday.

Mushrooms on toast, my favourite if I don't want to cook Daisy, OH loved them too.

Bit of a shock for B Oma, pleased everything was okay.

Nanto try not to worry about your inlaws and have a lovely holiday.

Grauntie, you have a lovely holiday too.

Morning from a wet blustery northern town , but funnily enough it’s surprisingly warm. Not much doing here since we got the fire stick we’ve found ourselves watching a film in the afternoon with the weather being bad, I might watch a Xmas film later πŸŽ„
I was going to walk to my nephew’s this afternoon it’s his birthday tomorrow but think with the weather we might go in the car 🚘
Mimi looking forward to hearing about your event at the Faulty Towers
Plant Nanto is going away but it’s her 50 th wedding anniversary on the 19 th
I can sympathise with B and the waterworks thing it’s not a place you want examining , but good news so worth it Oma you had a very good night doesn’t it make a difference !
We are doing retail therapy tomorrow with Dd and family and lunch at 3 pm just a local carvery but nice to spend time with them all as a family, Dil and twins are at the Caravan , DS stayed st home he went to a tribute band with his cousin last night the one whose birthday is tomorrow the band being KISS I hope he’s not nursing a hangover it’s all very quiet
Clover I salute you going out in this weather to work, your a hero !!!!
Smoking clinic went ok , he’s been messed about with his prescription , told the nurse about not taking it due to other tablets he takes but she said more research has been done and they say the doctors have old info now and there is no problem taking it , you wonder who you have to believe , he hasn’t stopped yet but didn’t start taking the tablets till this Tuesday so nothing has kicked in yet he goes back in a fortnight
Daisy take it easy and sustain your energy for the next 2 weeks that’s my advice

              Hello everyone.
After 2 days of rain it has dried up and the forecast is quite good for the next few days. I will update my Canada thread later.
GD is getting her birthday guinea pigs today, much excitement! She was going to name them after DD3 and SIL in Canada, but decided it would be confusing in future!

Xmas film Qwerty! You're starting early 😁
Have a good day everyone .

Good morning all. Blustery here too but very warm and sunny. My plans for the morning went out of the window when DD came over for coffee. She is recovering from what we think was flue, sounds very like it but is feeling better now. DH kept well away. You all sound very busy, glad you slept well Oma and hope Libra did too, she will be busy today. Enjoy your day with the family Qwerty, always nice to do that. Clover, take care if you have to go out, saw the weather on the news this morning and Wales looks like it was in for a bashing.

well, we went to Heart Club again yesterday and what a difference from last week. Same day, same group but everyone was very friendly! They must have been reading my mind, unless it was because we were new, but anyway, we enjoyed it. Ached a bit when I got home but it’s doing us good.

DH has got his new computer so he is very happy. I won’t see much of him today as he’s busy setting it up and having a play. There’s nothing really wrong with the old one just very slow for editing his films so we have decided that I will have the old one and I can keep all my genealogy and all my other stuff in that one, At least then we’re not waiting for the other to finish before we can do anything, Makes sense, so we are getting rid of the laptops, we don’t use them any more anyway. Might see if DGS can make use of one.

Pasta and apple and pear crumble for lunch, feeling hungry...must be all that exercise. Have a good day ladies 🌞

Hello everyone. Yes here in South Wales we’re really taking a battering. It’s so dark we have to have the lights on. We did pop out to the local shop ( not our usual one on the cliffs ) to get a paper but scuttled home quickly between squalls.

I hope Libra won’t overdo the moving in by trying to get everything straight at once. Now she’s there she can take her time.

                  Have a lovely weekend .

Sorry I've not posted much. Another week left of our 2wk hols in Wales. Staying in a lovely place that overlooks the estuary. We're staying nr Milford Haven & the choices of beaches is great. Will have to write in my journal soon. (Clover is it you who lives in Wales? Nice weather you have here.πŸ˜‰).

I've been keeping an eye on you all.....well someone has toπŸ˜‚. Enfys would you mind telling me how to make sloe gin. My brother is a gin drinker & I'd love to make some for him for Christmas, if it's not too late. Where do you get sloes from? I don't even know what they look like.

It's good to read all your news & know you're out there.

Nana, we pick the sloes when we go on our walks by the river. It’s too late now to pick them unfortunately, usually September. I pick them and put them in the freezer. They are not unlike blueberries or very small black grapes but very hard. All you do is put sloes, sugar and gin in a big jar, give it a few shakes every day for about a month then leave it in the dark. It takes about 3 months to mature then I sieve it a few times before putting in a bottle, There are some good you tube videos/recipes online with the exact quantities.

Thanks Enfys. I'll look in a bit. Is it not possible to get them from a freezer shop or are the sloes just foraged when the time is right?

                          I’ve never seen them, Nana.

                          Just found this:

Experts recommend picking sloe berries after the first frost, only when they are ripe. ... You can find these autumnal berries in a dried form on eBay from a number of reliable sellers. Mix dried sloes with sugar and gin in the right proportions, seal in an airtight bottle, and store it in a cool dark place.

Enfys - I can see you've got this sloe gin making off to a fine art! Have you ever tried damson gin? A friend's brother makes it and even though I'm not a gin drinker, I can manage a glass - or even 2 - of that. Good to hear that DD is feeling better, also that the Heart Club session went well.

It's been really mild here, and is still quite warm. I've just gone into the garden with Eva and was quite warm enough in the thin t-shirt and crop trousers I've been wearing all day.

Nana - have you been doing some sightseeing in south Wales? (Yes, it is Clover who lives there.)

Nanto - not long now! My DIL1 is keeping an eye on the weather in Las Vegas - around 27, sunny with a gentle breeze. They go on Saturday, 20th.

Qwerty - have a lovely day of retail therapy and lunch tomorrow. I hope the weather has improved for you.

Thanks Enfys. I'll take a look. Nan2 you've stirred up my tastebuds now for a beef dinner. I'll put it on my list of things to do for tomoro. Homemade chips with cold beef the day after...scrummy.

Daisy we have been the 'traditional tourists'. Tomoro if the rain lets up I'll ask OH to find a good pub for that lovely sounding beef dinner. πŸ˜‰
