Change of plans we not having Storm till tomorrow,
They have other things to do today.
I got the windows cleaned ,
    Everything back to normal,
    It's very cold outside ,

Lizzie apparently in my home town of Sunderland it was the same ,
My Nephew took my great nephew down and said it was spectacular at 8 pm all for families,
Then they had another display as the new year rang in
Must have cost a fair amount.

This year Storm got really distressed,
He has never done that before but DD said he was shaking so she curled up with him on the bed , put the TV on as loud as she could to drown the bangs out.

It's about time we banned private fireworks and only allowed organised displays,
Why can't they do drone displays or soundless fireworks.

Oma, they only do displays in the cities, just everyone (except me) else have their own fireworks. Well had, as it is not allowed anymore.

How that is going to work , I do not know!

DS1 phoned, he was saying young friends of the girls buy fireworks, he said you can't compare them to 10 years ago, a "pot" or whatever, €70+. That is one firework.

Saw some good displays of fireworks from around the world on the news this morning.

Decorations taken down and packed away today.
Hubby wants to keep the outdoor lights till 12th night.

Been another cold day,but dry since we had a bit of rain at 5ish this morning.

A bit late, but just wanted to wish everyone a Very Happy and Healthy 2026!
Went out for a lovely meal with DD, SiL and his DM last night. SiL checked what doggo was up to via a camera in the lounge and saw him demolishing a large bar of toblerone. They decided not to panic and see what happened. There seem to be no after effects, thankfully and he’s asleep at mine now. SiL at football, DD taking MiL back home again! Not sure when doggo is being picked up! Don’t know what it is about my garden but he loves being out there! Just noticed the windows where he stands and watches and I’ll be copying Oma and cleaning them tomorrow. Might be the following day as he’ll be here again tomorrow as we’re celebrating Christmas and New Year!
It’s been very cold here today and I think we’re forecast possible sleet/ snow showers tomorrow! Don’t like this cold weather!
          Keep warm ladies! Xx

Thank you Plant, better things for us all this year let's hope.

WG, last night one of our friends was telling us about a dog they were looking after who got into the chocolate. As in your case all was fine in the end with no expensive vets visit but a deal of anxiety waiting!

Nan2 I think it's nice to leave the outside lights longer. They help to cheer people up in this miserable month of January!

DD,SIL and GS3 came for lunch and the afternoon. It was lovely to see them as we won't for a while as they are going away for a few days so I won't be looking after little E next week.

It's certainly been chilly today, and I don't think tomorrow will be any better. I agree about the outside lights staying up for a while, though. They do cheer people up.

Pkant, thank you for your good wishes. Happy and peaceful New Year to. you, as well. How is little H now? I hope her throat's better.

Gem, I hope DD3 and family enjoy their few days away.

WeeGranny, it sounds as though you had a lovely evening out last night, but I had to laugh at the dog demolishing a whole Toblerone. At least it's milk chocolate and has less theobromine than dark chocolate, and he's a very big boy. I still remember the night of panic when I dropped just 2 squares of 70% choc on the floor and our Yorkie, Clyde had scoffed it before it hit the ground. He was very tiny and diabetic - so 2 lots of worries! Luckily he was ok. They know how to frighten us!

We have had a lazy day apart from taking Eva over to DS2's. It was lovely to see them all, although we didn't stay long. All being well, we'll spend longer over there tomorrow when we pick Eva up after the hospital. We're going to take GD2's birthday presents over, as we missed the actual day.

I'm going to have an early night - it's an early start tomorrow. Sleep well, everyone. xx

                    Good morning.

Our days are more normal now.

Not sure what we are doing today.
Hubby's pal might not be able to make their Friday meet up.
If he can't make it me and hubby are going to Cawthorne for a walk round. We went a couple of months ago.

Loved reading about the doggy stories and chocolate. Glad no doggies came to any harm.

Good morning Nan2 and everyone else.

Daisy I expect your GD will be happy to see her presents, and you of course I hope all goes smoothly at the hospital.

Tonight DDs and GSs 1 and 2 and I are going to the panto. We didn't go last year. Our beloved panto cast are no more (not by their choosing) and we were all sort of boycotting it! This year we thought about going but didn't get anything organised to go just before Christmas as we usually do. So we are off tonight. We are meeting in Heavenly Desserts first. The name tells you what they sell

I hope the hospital visit is quick ,and GD likes her birthday presents,

                        Plant
A happy New year to you also,
I hope everyone is keeping well and little H is better.

                        WG
Thankfully Storm isn't a chocolate kind of dog , we have bought him doggy chocolate before but he turned his nose up,

However he did have to have his stomach pumped a few years ago when he scoffed down a lot of raisins that GS had left open on the outside chair,

GS had opened them then something happened in the garden and he had gone outside with them in his hand ,
Put them down and forgot about them.

That was an expensive trip to the vet for DD ,,

My DSs black lab will eat anything in sight ,
He has had two ops to remove socks and stones,
                        Some dogs are stupid 😁

We have Storm today and tonight unless plans change yet again

It was an "interesting" trip to the hospital today. Still in the spirit of Christmas and New Year, here is a little guessing quiz (no prizes except smilie emojis though).

My OH totally abandoned me for about 40 minutes while we were waiting in the coffee shop for our appointment. (There was a 2-hour delay in appointment because of Pharmacy problems). Guess what happened, do you think

                            (1) he went to get something out of the car, but couldn't remember where we'd parked?
                            (2) got stuck in the loo?
                            (3) went to the ward to double check the time of my appointment and decided to wait there without telling me?
                            (4) met an old friend he hadn't seen for ages and stood chatting for 40 minutes?

                            Answer in next post!

It was (2). He went to the loo, locking the door, as you do. One cubicle was out of order, waiting to be cleaned, and all the others were occupied as well. The next thing, some clearly enraged/desperate strong man tried to open the door, despite it showing "red" and broke the handle clean off. It also broke the mechanism inside the cubicle meaning there was no way OH could open it! He had to wait until a member of staff arrived to basically smash the door in. We had a good laugh about it, when he finally escaped. More seriously he could have been a patient who was not well, or confused and frightened.

Treatment eventually went ok, but I had to go to the Pharmacy as they had forgotten to give me the meds that go in the fridge.

We were shattered by the time we got to DS2's, but it was lovely to see GD2 open her belated birthday presents, which she seemed very pleased with.

It was a beautiful sunny day (but very cold) and OH needed sunglasses, which were in his car, not mine, so I ended up driving back home. Needless to say, we've had a lazy evening.

I've read today's posts, but I'm a bit too tired to respond. See you all tomorrow. xx

Good morning, Daisy your poor DH, did he have his phone with him? Many years ago, before mobile phones were popular DS2 was on holiday with a girlfriend at the time, plus her family, they all returned to their rooms after the evening meal, the GF had to go to the toilet, DS thought she had gone with her parents, they thought she had gone with him, the poor girl was locked in a toilet in the basement for hours!!

You would be shattered, I hope that you feel better today after a good nights sleep.

We had snow yesterday, so cold with the wind. It is dry at the moment so I hope to get some shopping done, DS1 messaged me yesterday to tell me not to go out and that he would arrange the shopping for me, I had just managed to get to the Lidl so I had enough.

The lady downstairs is 85 today, she was so ill a few months ago, she was certain it was cancer of the bowel, in fact, we all were! She has a CT scan before Christmas and went for the results yesterday, not cancer! I phoned her last night to see how it went on, she was so pleased, she said she knows she is getting older, often tired, but at least it isn't cancer.

I am going to get a shower then keep an eye on the roads!

I read yesterday that a male cyclist had been hit by a tram in Delft yesterday morning, it is a very dangerous spot to cross, in fact, I have told myself I won't go to the hospital that way in the future. Now I have seen that it was an elderly man and he died in the hospital.
