Cold here too Nan2. We got some tidying up jobs done in the garden before the rain started.

It's turned really cold here this afternoon and we've had a couple of showers. it was glorious when I went to church this morning and I thought I'd take some photos when I came out and send them to DS. When I came out it had clouded over and all the brightness had gone, so no photos .

SiL now coaches a local ladies football team and I have decided to take them a half-time sugar fix for their home games! Brownies today and the cake tin was looking empty when I left. It was too cold to hang around and watch the second half so I went to DD's and had a coffee and a pat with the dog, who'd managed to open the hatch into the kitchen and take apacket of wraps out of the bread bin. He didn't eat them just left the bits on the floor. DD had told him off and he was banished to his cage, so I was his best friend ! He's such a lovely dog, but suffers anxiety when he's left alone, hopefully once he's settled that won't be such an issue !

Half term here next week so no reading or any other classes. Second cataract check up on Wednesday. This eye is quite different from the first one and although I can see things in the distance very well, I have a problem with reading and seeing things close by. Hopefully it'll sort itself out fairly quickly. GS is taking me which will be nice to catch up with how life at uni is going. Hr seems to have settled in well and he plays for a local football team on a Sunday.

Oma I hope things get settled with MiL and that her family begin to step up and take the pressure of you and B.

Everyone else take care and keep warm in this cold weather! xx

A bit late to the pass, I fell asleep this afternoon, my body clock is out of sorts. Haven’t seen the family apart from DD bringing me something from the party yesterday which I can eat tomorrow. It is the village monthly lunch for the old folk at the village hall tomorrow. Very quiet next door after the houseful yesterday.

GG, a bit of a change on the village green, the cafe is now in other hands, haven’t been, not sure if JJ is still involved.

Daisy, My OH and I were never tomato growers, the greenhouse looks very sad now with nothing growing in it. Sil isn’t interested in greenhouse growing, he is a grass and hedges gardener.

Gemini, your little grandson sounds like a little sweetie. He likes to see a tidy sunroom when he arrives.

Oma, I hope things will be sorted soon with your Mil, she must be frightened when she is alone and her breathing is bad, she really needs more care otherwise she will be in and out of hospital. B’s cooking makes my mouth water, I don’t make cakes and puddings now.

Very quiet day today after the busy family day yesterday.

Gem, I agree about your GD's mocks being far too early. If they were old exam papers they won't have covered all the work yet, so there will be questions they couldn't answer. If the school selected questions on work they have covered it's not a realistic example of the amount of choice they will have in the real thing. For some unfathomable reason, our GD1's school used old exam papers for their end of summer exams, knowing that there would be lots of questions they couldn't answer. It meant girls like GD who are very conscientious were disappointed that some of their grades were lower than they usually get in tests.

WeeGranny, I hope your 'second' eye settles down and gives you better closer vision. It will be good to spend time with your GS and hear all about his life at Uni. It's very kind of you to keep up the sugar levels of the ladies' football team, but I don't blame you for not staying to watch on a chilly day. You can't win with the weather at the moment. I've had the same problem with it clouding over or even raining when I'd hoped to take some photos. You sound very busy, so hopefully half term is a bit of a rest for you.

Plant, I was reading today that the change in the hour can upset people's body clock. It's certainly upset Eva's! She wanted her dinner at 4 o'clock this afternoon. You should have seen the sad, pleading eyes! Hopefully your family are resting and recuperating after their busy day yesterday. I agree, it's sad to see an empty greenhouse. I do miss mine. but know how much time I used to devote to it, mainly for growing veggies for the allotment, but I'd grow some flowers for the garden as well. It doesn't feel the same buying tomato plug plants.

Nanto, you did well to get your washing in before it got even wetter in the rain. Did you have a quiet day otherwise?

          Oma, how is MIL?

I got the rest of the tomato plants out of the trough before the rain started, and OH weeded a whole border. It looks so much better now. We had a bit of a sit down after lunch, and then I took Eva out, just as the rain started again! We only went round the block, but I was very tired when we got in. OH lit the wood burner and it was very cosy and toasty. I mentioned Eva doesn't understand about the clocks going back, so I fed her early, portioned up some food for the rest of the week for her, and made another bara brith which I'll freeze. I wanted to use up some dried fruit left over from the chutney making. OH cooked dinner.

Both GDs are on half-term this week, so they'll be coming over for one or two days - not sure when yet. My car has to go in for a service on Thursday, and OH has booked a tip run for first thing tomorrow. It's not easy to get slots. I thought they might have gone back to the old system where you just turned up and queued if it was busy, but it seems not. No wonder there's an increase in fly tipping.

          Sleep well, everyone.

Plant I'm sure you needed the quiet day after the busy one yesterday.

You will be glad to get your second cataract done WG. Very cold here too!

We had a lovely evening. Pizza, birthday cake and sparklers in the garden. GS1 enjoyed us all being there.
GD told us all about her party the night before which was a success.

Good morning. Its dark, wet, windy and cold.
              What more do we need.

I've got diced chicken, mushrooms and leeks in the slow cooker.
Some of it will be made into pies, the rest will have more vegetables and potatoes added to it to make into stew.
              More stock for the freezer.

Off to make a hot coffee now.

                Morning Nanto, Ladies.

It's bright. But cold like yesterday,

I have to take a water sample into the nurse I forgot when I had my bloods done on Friday,
Then take a jar of gherkins back to Asda I bought , when we got home the lid was popped and they look a bit cloudy so I'm not using them,
From there we are going to the farm shop B wants lamb chops for tea I'm having Turkey fillets with veg.

SIL went to see MIL yesterday she was fine so no drama yesterday,
                Other SIL going today.

                WG
standing around in the cold isn't something I enjoyed when GS was playing football,
But I bet the girls appreciated the treats,
I hope the follow up on your cataract shows good results,
Poor pup he only wanted to taste the wraps 😁

                Plant
                Enjoy your lunch,
The clocks going back mix your body clock up don't they,
I think it should be scrapped.

                Daisy
You need to pace yourself , you will be exhausted doing everything,
Enjoy some relaxing time with the girls just doing easy stuff xx

                Gem
Please E had a lovely birthday
Sounds like a great success at GDs party, did she have many there?

                Nanto
Your freezer will be full soon with delicious meals,
                So handy though aren't they.

                  Good Monday morning, everyone.

Nanto, butterflies are lovely on such a bright but chilly and windy day. That chicken combination will make lovely pies, and perfect for cold dreary winter days.

Gem, I'm pleased both parties went so well. You certainly have a busy time in October. I ho0e you were able to go to aqua this morning. Has your cough cleared up now?

Oma, it's good to hear there were no dramas yesterday. I hope MIL is learning how to use the oxygen. It will be one less thing for you and B to worry about. Cloudy gherkins sound horrible! Yes, I do relax when the girls are here. They're very easy company. I still don't know whether they're staying overnight, but it's easy to pull the second bed out from under the main one, and the bedding is ready.

Plant, I hope your body clock has adjusted today. Take it easy.

WeeGranny, I meant to say yesterday, I smiled at the family dog helping himself to the wraps. I bet he had no trouble reaching them, being such a big boy. I imagine he could reach things off the kitchen worktops if he wanted.

I've just been and fished all the leaves out of the pond. It's easier to do it every day at the moment, then they don't sink to the bottom and form a sludge. OH is finishing the weeding. It's really windy, so hopefully our bedding will dry quickly. OH did the tip run this morning and said by the time he left there was a very long queue down the access road. So much for appointments being more efficient. There are new staff there now who are very helpful. The other crewe were surly jobsworths.

I'm going to clean a few windows today. They all need doing, but the sun's too strong on the front windows.

                    Good afternoon.

Nan2, I hope your weather has brightened up, it's very bright and sunny here, but chilly with wind.

I'm glad MIL was OK yesterday Oma, and a day off for you today.

Daisy, tip run is one of OH's pleasures which I very much dislike! Yes, I finally got over the round of coughs cold and sore throats!!

I didn't get here before I went out this morning. We had a good aqua class with an instructor new to me. She took last weeks class but I wasn't there as I had a meeting. I enjoyed it, it was a fun class. She will be our regular Monday instructor as Jack isn't doing it any more. I had coffee with my friends afterwards.
This afternoon two friends called in when passing then I had am arranged phone call with our friend G's mum at 2pm. She suffers with the same condition I have mentioned in YEO, and needed a bit of advice and moral support. The friends were still here when she phoned so I needed to take the call upstairs. I felt like a Dr in my office talking to patient She is a lovely lady with lot of other health concerns going on, so I was glad to help in any way I could.
GS1 is being dropped off for a while this evening while DD goes for her flu jab.

Gem, the weather did brighten up,but still been cold.
It was good that you could offer advice to your friends mum.

I didn't get everything done that i wanted to this morning.
Nephew and his wife came,so only did pies. Made 4 ,so a bit of stock for the freezer.

Lovely lunch at the village hall and meeting friends there, came home and fell fast asleep, something to do with the clocks being changed I suppose. Already getting dark here, don’t like it. I am very pleased that my Sil takes my stuff to the tip for me.

Gemini, pleased you were happy with your new Aqua teacher.

Nanto, I am sure your guests enjoyed your home-made pies or didn’t they come to eat.

Daisy, I am having a job to find someone to put my bit of the garden to sleep. Now the days are short and wet, they might have to wait until Spring.

Oma, I wonder how long your Mil will be in hospital, I hope they don’t discharge her until her breathing is under control. I presume she wouldn’t agree to go into care.

WG, your DD and Sil have taken on a challenge with their new dog. By the way, JJ’s on the green is open again, don’t really know what the story was about the closure. Perhaps we should meet for lunch on one of your days off?

Plant, having a nap after lunch sounds very relaxing. I don't like the dark evenings either.

Gem, you must be pleased that your new aqua instructor makes the class fun. You had a busy afternoon between visitors and the phone call to G's mum, plus GS1 for a while this evening.

Nanto, it must have been the day for unexpected visitors, as you had some as well as Gem. Still, getting 4 pies in the freezer was good.

                          Oma, any news on MIL?

I've had a busy day, washing bedding and a mattress topper this morning. I cleaned all the windows upstairs as well. Then after lunch I took Eva for a good walk. It was very windy, but the sun was nice. I was going to cut the lawn when I got back, but OH did it while I was out. He'd done 2 or 3 hours weeding this morning, so I was quite surprised, but very thankful. I just trimmed the edges. OH is cooking dinner - pork chops, baby potatoes, cauliflower and kale. I'm doing the labels for the chutney and will have to make some bread later. All being well, the GDs are coming over tomorrow.

I want a few things from the butchers and Iceland.

Going to get beef stew in the slow cooker before we go. It will be done when we get back, then I'll portion it up for the freezer.

Daisy, have a lovely day with your granddaughters.
