WG, physio in those early days caused me a lot of pain and I felt it was setting me back rather than helping!!
Upwards and onwards, you will get there. Joint replacement recovery is a challenge xx

I have a soup maker. I use it a lot and love it! It has been the most used of any 'gadget'.

I hope you enjoy the meal Lizzie.

Oma, good for B getting the lights up when conditions are good .

How nice that the little cat remembered you Daisy

I hope you enjoyed board games Plant.

Lizzie, how frustrating, forgetting the eggs. Did the cake turn out ok anyway? (Fingers crossed!)

Plant, did you have a successful time playing board games this afternoon? Do people take the games very seriously, or is it more light-hearted?

Oma, your DS's dog was lucky to survive three items in his digestive tract. Labs must be the worst breed of dogs for eating things they shouldn't, although I know of other breeds who are nearly as bad. A neighbour has to muzzle their Spaniel when they go out as he eats all sorts of things which make him ill. I had to laugh at you coming out of Superdrug minus one of the main things you'd gone in for. It's so easily done, though. It sounds as though you're getting around a bit better now, but do be careful. Well done to B for getting the lights up in decent weather.

WeeGranny, it's been a beautiful day here as well, and a very pretty sunset. Everyone seems to find that the physio is painful, but I guess you just have to trust that it's worth going through some pain to heal everything up. It was a good choice to get some professional care before being at home, but I'm sure you will rest easier in your own bed. Have you got several icepacks so you don't have to keep freezing the same one? Good luck for your journey home tomorrow. I hope it's not too far. xxx

Gem, I was really pleased Scully did remember me. She's getting quite soppy in her senior years.

Dog training was hilarious this afternoon. Pam, the trainer had changed everything round in the hall and also did some heel work off lead with all the dogs moving around at the same time. Eva was very brave doing scent work. One treat was hidden on an aluminium ladder in the corner of the room, and she really had to pluck up courage to put her paw on a tread to reach the treat. Flyball was interesting. Exactly like it usually is, except in the middle of the room rather than at the side. All the dogs took the opportunity to take short cuts! Eva has been fast asleep since she had dinner.

        Good morning.

Had a lovely day yesterday, a good catch up with ex DIL.

Oma, hope DS's dog is OK.

Lizzie how did the cake turn out.
Many years ago, a former SIS in law, made some cupcakes that didn't turn out ok. When i went through things with her, she hadn't put any flour in.

WG, hope you are OK when you get home. I'm sure you will be well looked after.

Daisy, I'm not surprised Eva was asleep, doing all that work at dog training.

I'm going to wash the new slow cooker, then cook the filling for cottage pies and hot pots. I'll do the pies etc tomorrow.

Out for a pub meal today.

I hope the transfer home goes smoothly WG.

GS3 day today, and an overnight stay for him. He did say he wanted to go to the library last time I saw him, so we may be going there!

Good Thursday morning, everyone. It's dull and chilly here, but at least it's dry.

Nanto, enjoy your pub lunch. Missing ingredients out of cakes is easily done. I sometimes forget to put salt in bread as well.

Gem, have a lovely day with GS3 - and those tearaway kittens. The library will be a nice outing for him, I'm sure.

I'm meeting my ex-college friends for lunch today. I haven't been able to get together with them for months, so I'm looking forward to a catch up. We usually meet at a local golf club, but it's closed for alterations so it will be a pub lunch for us as well today.

              Oma, how's your back today?

WeeGranny I hope you're in less pain than yesterday after the physio.

EDIT: Oma, our posts crossed. Take it easy going to MILs and the hairdressers. xx

Good morning everyone, the cake turned out very well! GD1 took half home with her and the men at the office were delighted with the other half, one of the men has taken an early retirement, he does all housework, cooking etc as his wife still works, one of his hobbies is baking, he asked if I had made it myself, I told him I had, he was quite impressed so it must have been good.

Daisy, the dogs must enjoy the training .

WG, I hope you are now fit enough to return home and be well looked after.xx

I enjoyed the visit to Delft with GD1, we went in the churches, have you ever climbed the tower in the new church WG? 360+ steps, so narrow and twisty, I got part of the way then decided it wasn't for me so GD1 carried on to the top. We then had a walk round the centre before biking home. She had further to go than I did.

I enjoyed the meal then went on to do the coffee so I had a busy day.

I only once when I was about 35 climbed to the top of Durham cathedral,
It got narrower the higher you climbed,
I hated every moment then when you get to the top you can feel it swaying ,
                  Never again😁
I bet you were tired doing all that then biking home .

                  Daisy
Hope you enjoyed your lunch with friends.

Well we took MIL shopping , B pushed her wheelchair while I pushed the trolly.
I felt like it would never end , I just wanted to sit down in the isle .
we are quite methodical when we shop ,
We go up and down the isles , not MIL it was all over the place making it twice as long to get around .
We went back put her shopping away had a cupper then I went straight on to the hairdressers.

I have my feet up now with a hot water bottle on my back ,
If nothing else my hair is tidy 😁

Oma, What a shame Mil wanted to go with you when you are in pain. I am amazed that she herself feels up to go shopping.

Oma, I hope the hot water bottle eases the pain. Did you just have a trim at the hairdressers?

Lizzie, what amazing views. That's a lot of steps, and I think I'd have struggled, or more likely, not even attempted the climb. I'm ok with heights but going up all those steps would have had me on hands and knees! Many years ago we went on a visit to St Paul's Cathedral and climbed right up into the dome, the whispering gallery and the external stone steps. I think there are over 500 steps to the very highest point where you are outside the dome and several people in our group turned back. The view was incredible and worth the aching legs the next day!

Nanto, glad you enjoyed your pub meal. What did you have? I enjoyed my get together with college friends. I had broccoli and stilton soup which was delicious. I didn't want much as I had to cook at home tonight.

I did chips in the air fryer tonight, and I think they were the best yet. The potatoes were nice and fresh and big enough to make chunky chips. I just tossed them in a tablespoon of olive oil with salt, pepper and about half a teaspoon of paprika.

Gem, I hope you had a lovely day with GS3. Is he all tucked up for the night now? I bet you're ready to put your feet up - if those mischievous kittens let you.

Hairdresser did a full cut , I said just a dry trim would do as she’s always so busy , but she insisted giving me the works😁
Shes a lovely girl and a good friend.

Im pleased you enjoyed the chips , what did you have with them ? 😁

MIL is very sprightly, apart from being unsteady on her feet she’s back to normal.

We did say we would just get her shopping for her but she insisted on going.

Oma, MIL has obviously made a remarkable recovery and is no less awkward!

Daisy, the chips sound good. I must try that .
I confess I stopped at the Whispering Gallery at St Paul's and OH climbed the last bit alone . She agreed with you that it was worth it.

Lizzie, I don't blame you letting GD go up alone.

Everything is aching tonight as it usually is when I have been lifting GS3.
We had a lovely day though and he was all settled and asleep by 8pm. His parents are in London so he will be with us until tomorrow afternoon.

                            Night everyone

Good morning, Daisy, I could have managed the steps if they had been straight up, in Rotterdam last year with the roof walk I climbed so many steps, only then I wasn't in a tower and turning corners all the time, the steps were so narrow, in the bends no railing at all, I thought about the fall prevention I did only last week and decided to go back down!

Daisy, those are the only chips I like, peeling potatoes and fresh chips!

Oma, it is a shame you haven't got the medical training in the UK like where I have been for my knees, I went for the last time yesterday, I could carry on, I am not keen on going in the afternoons, it has helped, a lot, the young girl said yesterday that I have done well. I will carry on with the exercises she has shown me in the gym, there are quite a few there with back problems.

Nanto, the pub meal would be good.

M, my neighbour came for a catch up yesterday, she has been in bed almost 10 days with the flu. She brought me the face cream and her home made sauerkraut. Both very welcome, in return I had got her a good bag of vegetables from the Lidl, much appreciated as she needed to go shopping.

I will go to the gym before doing the coffee and plants.

Good morning Lizzie and all who follow.

Feels quite a bit colder this morning.

Daisy, I had gammon and pineapple, hubby had scampi, both with chips.
Finished of with jam sponge and custard. Glad you enjoyed your lunch and catch up.

                                Cooked mince and onions yesterday.
Today it will be made into cottage pies and hot pots.

No dinner to cook, we are having fish and chips.
