Daisy it was an impromptu babysitting but went well!
The children were the children of a couple DD and SIL2 were going into town with yesterday afternoon and having tea out with. The children were to be looked after by grandparents but there was some emergency and they had to cancel. The couple weren't going to go out, then GD and her boyfriend agreed to babysit. The children are 8 and 6 and known to GD. The boy is GS2's friend and the little girl goes to the ballet class which GD helps at on Saturdays. We met up with them at the park for a while yesterday and the little girl was being carried about by GD a lot! The parents were back by 7.30 so it wasn't a late evening.

Gem, how lovely that everyone enjoyed their day and were able to stick to their plans. It's great for all concerned and a kind thing for your GD and her boy friend to do.

I'll read back to other posts later. Dinner is calling for attention!

Been a horrible day here! I don't think Plant's family would have been able to get outside sadly! Wind and rain and not very warm with it!

DD came round earlier to help put the Christmas stuff up in the loft and get my old bed ready for collection on Thursday. The old bed is being taken away, so we had to get the mattress in a very large plastic bag! It was much easier doing it with DD than it was when OH did it several years ago. Looking forward to getting the new one now! It's a different size so I've had to get new bedding too. She needed to go to Tesco's so took me with her! As she said at least you're getting out of the house!! I was amazed at how busy it was especially as it was such a foul afternoon. I've been sat in front of the fire since I got back!

My GS often babysits for friends of DD and SiL, but his latest booking made me smile. It's the 50th birthday of a friend of the family and the sister is coming to stay with their parents. she has a dog which can't be left, her parents will be at the party, his wife's parents already have a dog and are looking after the birthday boy's dog. Could she bring it to the party? No way, or words to that effect. So, GS has been booked to dog sit. At Β£10 an hour he's more than happy !

Speaking of GS, I had a call on Friday evening from him. Was I at home? Yes. Could he come round and get me to mend a jumper he wanted to wear to a party? Dad was at wok, Mum was at the gym and he thought I'd be better at it then Mum anyway. So round he came, and the stitching on the cuff had come undone. Didn't take long and off he went to the party. He was designated driver and I believe he acted as a taxi driver taking some friends home and charging them...... I believe he was cheaper than an Uber!

When Oh had shingles on his head I used a mixture of rosemary and coconut oils to rub on and encourage new hair growth. I was quite pleased that it worked though I'm nor sure that OH was keen on the nightly massage nor the smell!

Hope that all those feeling poorly, grannies or OHs soon feel better. Take care everyone and have a good evening!
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

WeeGranny, I hope your GS enjoyed the party on Friday. That dog sitting booking must be your GS's best to date. I hope the dog is friendly. I would think rosemary and coconut oils would smell quite pleasant, but perhaps not on your head every night.

Plant, from what WeeGranny said, you probably didn't get any outdoor photos of the family today, but I hope you managed some indoors, and had a wonderful time.

Grauntie, it's fun watching kite surfers, but I bet today was quite wild. No wonder you were glad to get back home and thaw out. I don't suppose Bess minded the weather though - did she have a good run round? I didn't know you could return Amazon parcels via Asda, but as we haven't got one near us but you never know! Well done, the new foil cases are a win-win. I'm so glad your sewing mojo is improving. What are you working on at present?

Oma, you must all be relieved that your niece's BP is under control and she's home again. How is your mouth. Hopefully the salt water will help. Will you be able to get a quick appointment at the dentists?

Gem, I bet a lot of people missed that good chippy while it was closed. The DJ was lucky he wasn't hurt or worse after demolishing a wall like that. Unfortunately, even if S is feeling ok tomorrow the prospect of the golf course being open in the next few days is slim with all the rain. She must be relieved it's not Covid though. I hope you don't get it as well.

My OH was tired this morning after a restless night, so he dozed on and off all morning. I sat and read for a couple of hours - a rare treat for me. I hope he's through the worst of it as his cough is still horrible, but less horrible than yesterday. Keeping fingers crossed.

We have had really heavy rain most of the day. It eased off a bit mid-afternoon so I took Eva for a quick walk round the block. Just as I was turning into our cul de sac, chatting with our neighbour who I'd just run into with her dog, the heavens opened and it was just like someone pouring buckets of water over us. We couldn't do anything except laugh! OH saw how wet Eva and I were so he met us at the back door with a big towel for Eva. He noticed she didn't have her collar on, but I was sure I had put it on her (we take it off at night) and it wasn't in its usual place. Somehow or other it must have come off, but her tracking device is on it so I went out in the rain to look for it. It seemed to be about half way round the walk, but when I got there there was no signal to help me find it. So I started searching. I was just about to give up and look further round the block when another dog walker came towards me, carrying Eva's collar. She'd found it round the next corner near the cattle grid. I had stopped there to close someone's gate which was swinging open. There were ponies at the end of the road and they would be in the garden like a shot. I remember hearing a metallic noise as I fastened the chain over the gate, and it must have been the buckle breaking on Eva's collar.

I didn't know the lady, but thought it was really kind of her to look for me, as she could have just phoned the number on the dog tag.

That 'quick walk' took nearly 2 hours!

            Good morning.

Hubby taking GD1's car for it's MOT. Both her and her husband are working today.
Her pal is picking her up for work.

            No plans for me.

Daisy, That was kind of the lady to bring you Eva's collar.

Dinner is crispy potato slices and beans. I'll do Hubby some fish fingers with his. I've gone off fish fingers.

Good morning Nan2 and everyone else.

Grandma to the rescue with the jumper repair WG!

I'm glad that you got the collar back Daisy, but not that you had the long wet walk!

Plant, I hope it was a lovely family day yesterday.

              How is your mouth Oma?

Aqua morning for me. Before that I am going to sit with GS1 while his mum goes to a school meeting. I will go from there to the pool. It shouldn't be too long between me leaving and DD getting back.
I am meeting a friend for coffee this afternoon, so with coffee with other friends after my class as well, a sociable day .

                Morning Nanto/ Ladies

                Nanto
GS1's car had its MOT on Thursday, B picked him up. What would they do without their granddad's πŸ˜ƒ

                Daisy
That was kind of the lady,
                You must have been soaked.
DD bought a new collar for Storm last week but it was a click together one and every time he pulled at the lead it flew open , it just wasn't strong enough.
Luckily she tested it in the house otherwise he would have got away.
So back to the good old buckle one.
He has a lovely strong harness but won't move if you put him in it .
                😁
B always says rain is only wet when it hits you 🀣🀣

He has just gone to the Drs for them opening to see if he can get an appointment he's barking like a dog again the cough is rattling too.
I will ring the Dentist when it opens see if I can see her today.
It's wet and dreary out ,

                  Morning all.
A beautiful start to the day here, but it’s not going to last. Still windy though.
Good luck with appointments Oma, I hope you both get one.
Your day sounds very pleasant Gem.
Nanto2, I’ll willingly eat your fish fingers, haven’t had them for ages.
Daisy, Bess is ball mad for the first half and treat driven for the rest of the walk. She is going to a groomer this afternoon, apparently she has been once before but did not enjoy the experience. She hates being brushed so OH holds the head end and I do my best with the very hairy trousers and tail. I think OH is on a loser but who knows? I’m playing cards this afternoon so he’s on his own. 😬
I’m making a dress with fabric I bought years ago. All on the overlocker as it is stretch fabric so easy peasy.
                  Onward and upward.

                      Good Monday morning, everyone.

Nanto, I've got a love-hate relationship with fish fingers, but my delicious alternative is Thai chilli fishcakes which I get from the fishman who calls round. Yummy! I hope your gD1's car passes its MOT.

Gem, I hope your DD's school meeting is useful and positive. Fingers crossed for you all. Enjoy aqua and your lovely sociable day.

Oma, poor B. That cough seems to have been hanging around for ages. I hope he can see the doctor and get something for it. Is it keeping him awake at nights? I can't use those snap-fasteners on Eva. The click sounds makes her jump, but it's not easy to find light, comfortable collars with buckles these days. She doesn't need a strong collar because we always walk her on a harness, so the collar it just to hang her ID tag and tracker on. There's a dog in training class who won't move with a harness on. He just locks his legs and stands there looking sorry for himself.

I like B's comment about rain only being wet when it hits you. We had a lovely ex-RAF man at college who ran the Cadet force and always said skin is waterproof and doesn't go rusty - usually said to anxious mums who didn't want their youngsters to get wet!

Grauntie, I keep hearing about people using overlockers - are they the machines that stitch over the edges of fabric to stop them fraying? I'm in awe of anybody saying easy-peasy in the same sentence as stretch fabric! Is it a summer dress you're making?

My DIL1 has a very hairy Border Collie and he loves being groomed. She sits on the floor with him and he lies on his back while she deals with his undercarriage, legs and tail, then obligingly rolls over for her to groom the rest of him. The pile of fur she ends up with would make another dog! But our last BC was like Bess. He hated being groomed. Good luck to Bess and your OH at the groomers.

No particular plans for us today. OH slept a bit better last night, but still not well. If the flooding subsides I'll go into the village for a few odds and ends, and I need to change our bed when OH gets up. Exciting times, eh!

Good morning everyone, I phoned the doctors at 8am and had an appointment at 9am, the doctor has given me medicine, I hope now that I start to feel better.

Daisy, you certainly would be wet through! A good thing about the collar though, when I had the dog I had a special holder on my bike so went miles with him next to me, he knew when I got the harness out that he would be getting a good run!

Oma, I hope that you both get the appointments.

Gem, enjoy the aqua etc, I will miss mine today, I have already cancelled circuit training for Wednesday, someone else will be pleased that they can go! I can go to the gym, the doctor said as long as I listen to my body and not overdo it.

I'm at DD1's with my coat on! I have just covered this on another thread.
                          GS1 never feels the cold.
I will be glad to get back into my car!

Oma, I hope the antibiotics soon work.

Grauntie, maybe Bess will enjoy the beautician this time

Daisy, like my OH yours is taking a time to shake this thing off. One of the ladies at the committee meeting on Friday said she was only just recovered properly after going down with something at Christmas.

B has been given Antibiotics and Steroids , she said his lungs are really congested.
So we went to the Dentist and picked my prescription up and took them both to the pharmacy,

It was packed , so many people picking antibiotics up,
I was speaking to the girl on the desk she said it's been the same since before Christmas.
People are getting rid of it just for it to return a few weeks later.

Gemini, I hate being cold indoors,
