Oma I have never been ice skating although I have watched the GC a few times. I can't imagine any other way of stopping except crashing into the sides

WG I'm sure you will get a good report from the consultant. It sounds as though you are doing very well.

Nice to have DD and GD to dinner Nan2.

I'm still about muddled with the days Enfys. I had to keep reminding myself that today was Thursday so GS3 would be coming!

Plant I have only had one set of kitten scratches, which are just above my knee. One of them jumped up to catch the tie on my pyjamas and clung onto my knee

Did you get everything done Daisy? I think we will take our decorations down over the weekend. I feel they have just gone up!

Today's kitten escapade was Moses needing to be rescued from the flat kitchen roof. No idea how he got up there.
This morning we took little E to the park, which he loved. It was very cold with frost and ice about but sunny and bright . We drove there and back so we weren't outside too long.

It feels as though things are gradually getting back to normal.

WeeGranny, you are doing so well, so hopefully the consultant will be full of praise for you. I do like the idea of a few glasses of fizz as a painkiller! Did the cold weather affect your hip at all? Did. you enjoy the pie?

Enfys, isn't it great to be together with family. You must have had a lovely time. I hope your GD has a fabulous time in Sri Lanka. I would feel the same - much better to be with a friend.

Nanto, well done on recycling all those old modems. My OH has promised to get rid of a lot of empty boxes from our loft tomorrow. To add to the confusion about what day it is, our bins are usually emptied on Fridays, but this week it will be Saturday. But I kept thinking it was Friday today and was going round putting stuff out for tomorrow, which of course isn't Saturday!!

Oma, your neighbour desperately needs help and support, so good for you keeping on at the authorities, for everyone's sake. Thank goodness there were no broken bones on the ski slopes or ice rink. I'm rubbish at skating - and generally stopped by falling over! Your SIL has done very well. I'm sure they will appreciate coming home to a warm house - especially with the chilly forecast. I hope their journey isn't disrupted by the weather. You'll miss having Storm, though.

Plant, did you go to John Lewis? The sunshine was very welcome, wasn't it.

Gem, was little E tired after his trip to the park? I had to laugh at Moses getting on the flat roof. Can you lure them to you with treats?

Nothing went to plan today. The couple came to collect the rocking horse, and they'd had a long journey so we made them a coffee and sat chatting - for quite a while. Then we decided we needed to move some heavy furniture round in the guest bedroom. That took quite a while, especially faffing about with plugs and extension leads. Why are sockets never in the place you want them. I sorted the fridge out, thinking the bins were being collected tomorrow (see earlier in this post!) and every time I tried to get a load of washing together something happened to distract me. I console myself that the washing won't feel neglected and go somewhere else - it will sit quietly multiplying.

We're taking Eva to the vet tomorrow - she has been licking under her tail, just on one side. We can't see anything wrong, but it may be a blocked gland or something. We've got to go to the veterinary hospital though, or wait longer for an appointment at the nearest branch. We have a busy week next week, so better to get her seen sooner.

        Good morning.

        I think it's frosty again,certainly feels colder.

Daisy, I think I've got the days sorted now, feels like things are back to normal now.

WG, hope the consultant is happy with you on Monday. You seem to be doing very well.

Hubby meeting his pal later, they will need to be well wrapped up.

Amongst other jobs yesterday, we got the lights off the tree outside.

I had to change the menu yesterday with DS1 and GD2 staying for dinner, so we will have the gammon today.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Nan2 it was frosty here yesterday and is again this morning. I like your graphic

No plans today, we will see how the day goes.

Good morning, WG, you are doing well!

Daisy, I hope all is well with Eva.

Oma, well done on the family with the skating! When I arrived here, 55 years ago this last week, people of all ages were skating on the canals and dykes, I was amazed at the time, I have never even tried myself, but, I do think that the Dutch are born with the gift to skate and cycle!!! When my DS's were young it was a yearly activity, nowadays, not so very often.

It is a bitter cold wind this morning, at least the sun is out. I am going down to a neighbour with her present, she is 84 years old today.

Hope your neighbour has a lovely Birthday.

Hubby will need his big coat on and his fur pants 🤣

              Gem
Enjoy your free day , no doubt you will find something to do 😁

              Daisy
              Hope it's nothing with Eva.
At the moment storm is on steroids and having his leg bandaged all day , he keeps licking his leg. It looks worse than it is because his saliva has stained his fur. Vet said nothing wrong he's just making it itch with all the licking. These dogs cost a fortune.

Gemini, lovely to be able to get out in the fresh air with GS3, we have been shut indoors for too long.

Daisy, I hope the vet can clear up Eva’s sore place. I bet the people who bought the rocking horse were pleased with it. We’re they grandparents?

Oma, Is it still all quiet next door? I wonder what the plans are for her. I am sure your DD and family had a nice holiday especially as they knew their pets were in safe hands.

Nanto, I have been in a right muddle with the days this week. Still thinking it is Thurs today.I am going to put my decs away today except the cards, I like to keep those up until later.

WG, I hope all goes well with the consultant, I think they will be pleased with your progress.

Jack Frost visited last night, sunny and sparkly today. Trip to JL went well yesterday, I was going to change a summer top I had as a present but it was like a jumble sale in there so I just returned the top. I met GD1. H and GD’s OH there and had lunch. It is H birthday soon so GD1 chose a present for me to give her. Coffee time and I am going to make a start on the decorations, not that I have many. Do you find you always miss one?

I have a little ball of berries I hang from my sitting room curtain pole , we just realised this morning it's still up
I'm leaving it , can't be bothered to get the step ladder out.

Yes she has been very quiet no roaming around during the night and early hours ,
The police have just been to check on her but she didn't open the door , hopefully she's sleeping.
Her meds tend to make her drowsy when she starts taking them again.

DD and family are in the Lindt factory , there final visit on the way to the airport
B will be getting chocolate gifts 😁

I'm a bit late in the day to say 'good morning' - and I still don't know what day it is - I thought it was Monday earlier!!

Oma, I know you and B will both welcome the family back from their adventures, but I bet B is also excited about any special goodies they have have found at the Lindt factory! Good to hear that your neighbour has calmed down. Let's hope she keeps taking her meds. Poor Storm, but I think sometimes dogs lick themselves rather like a child sucking his thumb - it's either a comfort habit or a displacement habit.

Plant, it's nice to see the sun! Little H'a birthday seems to come round very quickly - how old will she be? It doesn't seem 5 minutes since we were all celebrating her arrival.

Lizzie, I suppose having places to skate makes a difference - the same with skiing. We don't get much opportunity in this country so if you don't live near an ice rink, you don't learn. I would have loved to be able to skate with confidence but there's no chance of learning now as I couldn't take the inevitable tumbles. It must be fascinating to watch people gliding about though. I hope your neighbour enjoys her birthday.

Gem, enjoy your free day. I bet little E's face was a picture this morning when he woke up to everywhere white with frost. Have the kittens been out exploring this morning?

Nanto, that graphic sums today up perfectly. You must be relieved to be back to normal with the days. I hope your OH didn't get cold meeting up with his pal.

Like most people, we had a heavy frost overnight - typical on the morning you need to use the car first thing. We couldn't even open the door at first. We got to the vets right on time with more luck than judgment! The vet was lovely and made a big fuss of Eva before checking her over. She couldn't see any problems but when she checked Eva's glands she found one was a bit inflamed - on the side she's been licking. So we've got a week of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories for her. We're just relieved there didn't seem to be any serious problems.

We had to drive across the Forest and through Beaulieu to get to the vets. With the sun shining out of a blue sky and all the frost on the trees and ground sparkling it was like a magical wonderland. So beautiful, but too cold for me!

I've started on the washing pile, and we'll take the decorations down after lunch.

Daisy, it was the dykes and canals where they learned to skate here, any open water, GD's did exactly the same. I watched!

Across the road from MIL is what used to be the coal mines pit heap about 30 years ago they turned into a dry ski slope.
on a night when it's all lit up and the skiers are coming down especially in the winter MIL can sit and watch it looks amazing. There is literally just a road and a football field between so MIL gets a really good view.

Daisy I'm glad to hear the vet can sort Eva out.

It must be great to watch the skating Lizzie.

Plant I always miss something too.

                            It's still cold!
OH played golf with 3 friends and she said it was good to get out. She has all the cold weather gear, and uses hand warmers so she was fine. It was a sunny day but very cold.

I have caught up with some TV and The Archers omnibus, done some housework and made a cheats lasagne ( bechamel from a jar)

When we first moved into the village the water in the pond was very shallow and froze over, lots of people skated on it. Now it is full of water, the conservation group had it emptied, refilled and restocked with fish and ducks. Decorations all down apart from cards, I like to keep them up. Oops just noticed two I missed.

Plant, those skaters would be disappointed the pond wasn't used for skating any more.

Gem, it must have been lovely out on the golf course providing you were well wrapped up. Glad to hear S enjoyed it. You have been very productive and I bet you both enjoyed the lasagne.

Nanto, thank you. Eva will be fine, I'm sure. She is taking her meds ok, and nothing seems to spoil her appetite.

Lizzie, thank you for those photos. It looks so very traditional with the windmills in the background and all the skaters.

Oma, what a good use for an old slag heap, and what a brilliant view your MIL must have. I'd sit watching people skiing down it for hours.

We got all our indoor decorations down this afternoon, but not the outside lights. OH said it was too cold (it was bitter!). Unfortunately it's not likely to get much better over the week-end.
