Daisy the only excuse I can come with is for painting the bathroom yellow is we had just moved into the flat and every room needed decorating . We had to transform a very pink bedroom , which eldest DS was going to be sleeping in to something more to his taste. Our bedroom was dark brown , the bathroom was a dark cream with a very dark bath panel and the so called white skirting board had yellowed through neglect . The kitchen had orangey/brown walls, and again the white skirting boards and the built in cupboard door had turned yellow, and along with brown kitchen units it looked very dull in there. To top this look off we had dark brown doors in all the rooms except the sitting room where the door looked as if it were made of paper.
We set to making the whole place brighter, out went the brown doors in came pure white doors. The bedrooms were decorated in creams and light blues . The bath panel on the bath was replaced with a white one and then , I think this is where I went over the top, the walls were painted yellow !!!
The whole place now looks a lot brighter , in fact its been transformed inside and out. Those who saw it 'before and after. have remarked on how different it looks.

Gem I knew you could do it.Well done.

All you home decorators put me to shame. Our bedroom is a blue that I loved at the time butI'm getting a bit tired of it now.Shamefully I don't have the energy or inclination to change the colour just for the sake of it.

I've just realised Easter is closer than I imagined so with family coming I must get busy planning and cooking things to freeze as I like to have most meals prepared before they come as I don't like spending ages in the kitchen when they are here so infrequently.

Afternoon ladies , well finally got shopping this morning , went to Morrisons then Tesco for a few things , had lunch then our friend and her new partner called for coffee on their way home from shopping , so just sat down , B phoned the decorator he's coming either Tuesday or Wednesday to do all the ceilings in the house get them out of the Way , He's actually on holiday for a couple of weeks but going to take the day to fit us in or we would have to wait weeks to get appointment once he's back at work 😊

I think Oma yours must be the most freshly painted house in the Univers, you always seem to be decorating or is that my imagination I have been shopping for eldest DD's birthday card and gift, out to dinner at a friends tonight. Out again tomorrow night, and out again next Saturday night, what a social whirl hope my liver holds up lol. Sunshine is beautiful here today, I picked a vase of daffys from the garden, the tiny fragrant tete-a-tete ones. Must dash, figure out what to wear tonight, oh and the change of hair was a disaster. Red really grabs the follicles and it ended up almost pink , so now a luscious burgundy.

Daisy, hubby has got nails and screws then B&Q. When he's sees a good offer, he stocks up with them.

We went to the garden centre, for something to eat. We had hot beef sandwich with chips. While we were placing our order, hubby spotted a piece of blackberry and apple pie.
Waitress told him it was the last piece, so he bought it, and we shared it.
The chips and sandwich were really nice. Will definately go back again.

Speaking of decorating, when we got this house, every room was decorating in some shade of green. Green, is my least favourite colour.

Garden centre cafes are often very nice Nan2.
              Have a nice night Libra.

I went to the library, went to mums for a while, went to Tesco on the way back, where I bought Easter eggs on behalf of my mum and a couple of my own. I forgot to buy flowers for our friends tonight so had to call into the little Sainsbury's in the village!

              Nice sunny afternoon here.

Good Sunday morning, everyone. Nanto - I think the weather forecast is good, so your lawn might be in luck. It's nice to get it done before you go away. Yes, our local garden centres have nice cafes too, but it's hard to get OH to spend long enough in a GC to stay and eat! LOL Now, B&Q is different. He'd spend all day in there, and he's like your OH - stocks up on things when they're on offer. He does that in the supermarket too, and I think we've got enough dishwasher tablets to last for at least 10 years!

Mimi - I can't imagine why you wanted to change that lovely decor! I'm sure your DS could have learnt to love pink, and fancy getting rid of all that luscious dark gloomy brown!!!!

Our house is a 60s box and all the doors were that horrible sepele brown, all scuffed, faded and marked. We've replaced them with light oak doors and it made such a difference. We were going to get white, then decided light oak would be less maintenance. We had oak veneer put on the non-standard doors like the big cupboard on the landing and it matched perfectly - so really pleased.

Nanto - green isn't my favourite colour either, but I got light lime green curtains and a light green striped rug for the living room last year, and wonder of wonders, I am still pleased with the effect against the pale grey walls. But one dose of green is enough.

Oma - your decorator sounds a treasure. Not many people would give up a day's holiday to pain ceilings.

LG - what a whirl of social eveents. But that's what retirement is for - enjoying yourself knowing you have't got to get up for work the next day.

Gem - Is your library close by? I haven't belonged to one for years, but used to love going. DIL2 takes the girls most weeks and they love it.

Good morning, lovely morning here so far.

we enjoyed our couple of days away seeing DGD. Our room she had booked for us was lovely, huge bed and very comfy. We had a lovely meal with her in the restaurant - all the main meals were "hers" and we had a tough choice to make. They were very busy that evening so luckily she had booked a table for us. It was so nice spending time with her and her boyfriend was able to come over for a chat too. He is the restaurant manager so was very busy that night.

We visited Avebury in the morning. A beautiful little manor house that was transformed by the BBC for a TV programme. The house was empty so they took it over and decorated every room in a different style, going through the ages that the house was occupied. So the dining room was Tudor, drawing room Geoegian, sitting room 1039's etc. a very interesting idea and worked very well.

its funny but having a couple of days away wore me out, must be gstting old . But we did do a lot of walking, that's my excuse. Have a peaceful Sunday, ladies 🌺

                        Morning all.
OH in his wisdom has decreed that we should go out for Sunday lunch so who am I to argue with that.

Sun ☀️ is shining here, hope it's the same for everyone.
Have a lovely relaxing day . (Perhaps not for Glam though 😉)

Enjoy your day in Whitby, went there with OH a couple of times. I could do with a day at the seaside.

Went to a lovely garden centre for coffee with friends it was so nice we sat outside for 2 hours but outdoor seats are a bit hard to sit for that long , I had a sore bum 😊
The other night we had a Indian curry and we both managed to get sauce on us , me down my blouse and him on his Jumper , although I rinsed both under the tap as soon as I could they still stained ( 6) attempts off Vanish stain remover ( 1 ) attempt with bi carb and soda crystals ( 1 ) attempt of soap and vinegar and ( 1) final vanish the stains are finally shifting , never washed a garment so many times , would have just binned them but two things stopped me , one is I won't be beaten 😕 the other they are garments we liked , never had a stain as stubborn I think it was the Turmeric in the sauce 😠
