Yes, Daisy it means 'thank you' but if you are a man you must say 'obrigado'.

Aggie - Gem is right. there is no link between that forum and ours, and as she says, not directed at GRU as such. It's such a pity people have nothing better to do with their time than generate spam!
Avo - obrigada!!! I'd guess bom dia is 'good day' - if so I've tripled my knowledge of Portuguese!
Gem - I'm glad you had such a lovely time with your auntie. Does she make your Dad feel a little closer? That's how I felt about my auntie (dad's sister) - and she was very good company.

Good morning ladies.
Poor B but the bruises will soon heal, it's onward and upwards Oma . Give B a hug from me. X
Gem, how is the back ?
Ladies I need your inspiration regarding Christmas dinner at DSs and DILs.
We spend Christmas Day with them and every year my contribution had been to pay for the turkey. An easy option I know but DIL loves to make and plan the meal months ahead , she has usually got the starters, mains and desserts sorted. Her cousin usually makes the starters , the desserts are done by her brother and his girlfriend. and I know for a fact that all of this will be covered by now. The reason for the change is DIL has got two turkey crowns ordered and she has told me there is no need for any money as it is already paid for.
i suspect she is doing this to be kind but I don't want to turn up empty handed.
We always take some wine and beers with us on the day but I feel this isn't enough.
I did think I'd bring along a cheese board but OH mustn't eat cheese, the odd little nibble now and again is ok but with all that cheese in front of him , well he won't able to resist
Any ideas ?
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Good morning everyone.
Nanto - I love that graphic - it makes me think of spring. I wish we could just skip winter, although it's fine here at the moment, and not too cold.
Oma - I hope B slept ok and is feeling a bit less battered today.
Mimi - I can only think of the rather obvious - some really delicious, special chocolates, but I'm sure other people will have more ideas.
Shopping for us this morning. We've got friends coming for dinner next Tuesday, but I will be looking after GDs all day - I hope to get home before our friends arrive, just - so I'm shopping for the main course today so I can cook it and freeze it. Starters and desserts will have to be quick and easy. I might make an apple pie and freeze that, unless I get more inspiration! Then OH is going out to his wood turning club tonight and then straight up to DS1's to finish the DIY job he started last week. Hopefully he'll be back Sunday night.

Good morning all
Oma, poor OH. I hope he feels less sore today.
Daisy yes my aunt does make dad feel closer. I would see her just for his sake as I know he would want me to, but as she is lovely it is a joy for me to see her too.
Mimi, although that is kind, they are making it difficult for you! We all like to contribute don't we? I can't think either. Do you stay for tea or supper, or just the main meal? If you do, maybe a trifle or something else for then? Or some luxury Christmas Crackers for the table?
I'm going for my x ray this morning. This afternoon mum and I are meeting DD2 and baby for coffee. I will do mums shopping as usual, but am going to phone her for a list so I can do it at the small Sainsbury's in the village before I go for her, rather than traipse around the massive Tesco on painful knee! We have a friend coming for a meal tonight.

Thanks Nan2. All went smoothly with the x rays, 2 weeks to wait for the results. It's s8re just now as it was in an uncomfortable position for a couple of the x rays. Seeing baby GS this afternoon, which will take my mind off it“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
