    Afternoon everyone.
I "listened "to the 2 minutes silence on Radio 2 this morning.
I hope you are having a restful day Oma after all that chasing around yesterday. You'd need to be fit to cope with all that!
Nana,I too hope the antibiotics do the trick.
We've just had a walk round the cliffs overlooking two beautiful beaches. Hardly anyone about.I love it when it's winter and the beaches are deserted.

We are all ready and waiting for the clock to keep ticking until time for the off. Just heard that our friend in Barbados is poorly so our planned trip to St Nicholas Abbey with them for 50 years independence will have to be just us. I am just having a cheeky gin and tonic to start holiday.

I know a coupe of you share my on line Marisota shopping habit but I am going to close my account. I ordered a beautiful grey pearl embellished long cardigan on 2nd November for next day delivery along with grey leather gloves and couple of other things. I tracked the order and it didn't arrive. I called them on Tuesday and they said they would resend. Nope that one hasn't arrived either and I was told it had to be 48 hours late to be classed as missing - well how many 48 hours does it need?? The tracking thing says it was signed for at 21.58 last night. Oh no it was not. I phoned them today and told them to stop the order as we would not be here and if it was left in the normal place it would be there for two weeks. , they cannot. I am not happy as I really wanted it for my holiday and now the gloves are out of stock! I am wearing the cream cardi I bought instead. It is not a practical colour at all!! I just loved it so bought it! First time of wearing.

How very annoying Zizi! I don't blame you for closing your account.
My back and knee are really bothering me. No more childcare until Monday, and I will try to rest generally and not keep making them worse!

Zizi - how annoying. why do these things always happen when time is of the essence! I hope your friend is Barbados is soon better.

Gem - I'm not surprised you are suffering after all your childcare. It does take it out of us. Rest and relax while you can.

I'm heading for an early night tonight as I have the girls tomorrow and am going up to DS1's on Sunday to leand a hand. Then Monday starts all over again!

Gem mine were always worse if I had been on the floor with the boys or bending low to change a nappy , Do you think you may need some anti inflammatory pills or cream . my knee has been so much better after I had steroid injections . what about asking Dr about them , don't put up with the pain xxx

Thanks Oma. I have a Drs appointment soon. Booked to talk about my varicose veins, anc whether or not to wear flight socks when we go to Florida. This is the longest time that I haver ever had the pain, so that will be on the list too. Luckily I booked a double appointment!

                  MEMORIES OF LEONARD COHEN
[I can't remember where to find the new thread informing members when a famous person dies ..hope I wasn't dreaming this.]

In my younger college days I liked some of Leonard Cohen songs. I heard that he'd died today aged 82. I've just watched a documentary about him & found it quite poignant to see him as a little boy in his little sailor suit, running as fast as his little legs would carry him. (Oops, lots of 'littles' in there).

I went to see him in concert (on one of my college jaunts) & he wouldn't come out on stage. After about an hr he appeared. There was thunderous applause. He sang about two lines of a song, swore & said he couldn't do 'this' & walked off again. That was it.

A couple of months back I played some of his songs on a long journey home in the car as OH didn't know him or his music. We ended in fits of laughter as OH said he felt like slitting his wrists. I said some of his songs were melancholic . ..OHs reply was they were bruddy awful. An acquired taste I feel.

Morning all. The rain has been hammering down all night I could hear it against the bedroom window.
I was going to go to town this morning but I think I will leave it until later in the week .
On the plus side it seems warmer!

As OH was watching the football last night I decided to try my hand at learning how to crochet. I tried learning this skill when our DC were babies but gave up as I couldn't master it. I thought (foolishly) that would the aid of the internet I would succeed this time as I could learn step by step with a video on utube sadly that was not the case. I could have knitted a jumper in the time I took me to do three rows. It looked a complete mess . Shall I try again today I ask myself?
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Nan2 you probably do know some of his songs as he wrote a lot for other people. It is raining here at Gatwick but it doesn't matter as we are inside and even if we get bumped today we won't need to go outside unless we want to, just have a lazy day messing around on here and watching old films on tv.

Mimi I used to crochet but haven't for years, I was quite good at it if I say so myself. I also used to knit but alas rarely finished anything as I got bored too quickly. I do remember finishing a yellow "Roland Rat" jumper for my son which he was very proud of but that was about 35 years ago.

Oops, don't know what I did I there! Didn't mean to delete it, so will start again.

So pleased so had our walk by the river yesterday as it's pouring with rain here today.

Gem, hope you knee and back are a bit better.

                          Enjoy your holiday Zizi,

Mimi, I started crocheting again last year after learning when the children were babies. I really enjoy it and have made 3 blankets, a big bag to put all my wool in, scarves and a cushion cover. I found a brilliant blog with some great step by step instructions and you might find it helpful too. It's called....Attic24....she makes lovely things and explains it all as she goes along,

                                Now, Enfys, are you sure??

KD Lang singing Leonard Cohen songs ( Hallelujah, Bird on the wire etc) is an amazing combination.

I crocheted a bit when I was about 15. There was a craze for it a our school we did it in our lunchbreak!!

Free day today!!! Nothing at all planned, but pleny which needs doing, of course.

                                Enjoy your Saturday everyone
