GM - that's good to hear. Ours isn't the newest model either!

Oma - I do hope they've caught any infection at an early stage for Brian. Well done to Josh - I'm sure he will do well, and I hope he feels he made the right choice of schools, because I remember it was quite a hard choice for him. x

Edit: Sorry, GM and Oma - yet another post that didn't make it late last night! Our internet connection is so slow at the moment it's driving me mad!!!

Good morning ladies. I'm rushing round a bit trying to get ready for visitors. We're taking the dogs for a walk then a pub lunch. Just hope the rain keeps off! I'll be back later.

          Good morning everyone.

I'm sure Josh made the right choice Oma.

Off to vets with one of our cats later. She suffers from a skin condition which makes her itch then scratch then come out in scabs all over. Hard to see as she is long haired, but you can feel them. She has been clear for over 6 years but now its back. Hopefully she will respond quickly to the treatment, poor thing.

GS1 is coming over this afternoon. We are having him overnight. DD1, his mum, is going to London for the weekend with her 2 sisters, This is their present to her for her 40th birthday They will have a lovely time together. SIL will collect GS tomorrow morning and look after him the rest of the weekend. SIL2 is looking after GD and baby GS all weekend alone, but he's a super dad .
GS1 started pre school this morning, I hope it is going well.

Today I was up at 6.50, did some work sending emails and updating documents, went to the supermarket around 10.30 to get a Charlie Bighams chicken masala which was not delivered by Sainsbury this week, I will make a chilli for tomorrow night, we are going out for lunch Sunday and I bought a microwaveable chicken casserole for Monday. The kitchen refit is happening on Monday and we are not sure whether we will have a cooker. The refit was supposed to Monday for three days and they have sent a text upping it to 5 days. Not happy.

Tomorrow I will go out early to the bakers and get some nice bread and also buy the paper, I only buy a paper on Saturday, the rest of the week I do on line. I will come home, do my puzzles on the paper and on line puzzles, get rid of all the rubbish in the bins and rcycling bags, clean kitchen and bathroom, change the bedding and start packing away the stuff from the kitchen AGAIN. I so hope it doesn't take five days for is flipping kitchen refit. I am already depressed thinking about it. Because of how late it all is (should have been finished 15th July) all the other work we had planned has slipped as well.

The annual fair is set up on the green, it is a charter fair and village history states that one man with his roundabout would come every year during the war to keep the rights of the charter. For those of you who have read Miss Read books it reminds me of her books. When the children were small it was a must as teenagers they would go with friends. The rides are not the same now and they are very expensive.

Plant it is a different fitting company this time, I have made it clear that I am not having the other one back AND that they have to speak English so we can pick up on any potential problems. Husband is going to be here for the first three days and I am not BUT he has to be back at work on the Thursday and Friday so I am filled with dismay at being here while the work is going on.

we also have a chartered fair. Ours was granted because the Lord of the manor, Lord Knyvett was one of the people who discovered the gunpowder plot and foiled the blowing up of of the Houses of Parliament. His original house is on the corner of my road, I can see it from my sitting room window. Ours is in July, cannot remember the exact date but it is exactly the same day every year so we rarely get to go and anyway these days it has hot dog sellers, gypsy stalls etc. Where it used to be brownies, scouts and charities etc. For ours to continue someone has to stand on the green in the village with a biscuit four weeks before the fair and someone else has to come and buy the biscuit for a penny. The penny used is a Victorian one and is kept in the post office safe until it is needed. Mind you we don't really have a post office any more. It was closed and moved to the back of the Londis shop about ten years ago and in the last couple of years it has become a sort of small mezzanine kiosk next to the shop counter.

Zizi - I do hope the kitchen fitting is done properly this time. You don't need all the hassle of it going wrong.

Plant - I love how some of these old fairs and other traditions have survived, even if the event itself has changed to keep up with the times. My BIL used to live in a very old country house. On the opposite side of the valley there was a hospital and to get water to the hospital it was piped through my BIL's land. The hospital had to pay him a rent of 1 (old) penny per annum!
