Off up to town today for meetings, not looking forward to it. Would rather be here, I have a lot of admin stuff to do. It was so warm last night and despite have the blower on I still couldn't sleep. Woken up full of snottiness and coughing like a 40 a day smoker. Ben went into year 5 yesterday and apparently had a great day. Sadie year 2 and doesn't like her new teacher, we don't know why. Joe started secondary school and is filled with dismay at the thought of homework. Fot home with a bag full of books and three notes about things that need to be paid for including a trip to Iceland that is incredibly expensive for five days. Mummy is saying that they could all go away on holiday for the price. But the schools factor in the teachers wages and travel/hotel costs don't they? Oh well, truth is that they are not badly off, if you can afford to pay £360 for a Prada purse (yes purse not handbag) I am sure you are not visiting a food bank to feed your family!

Wow! Think how many new spades I could buy with that!
Somehow I feel it's unfair to dangle that trip under the noses of the children who's families just can't afford it.
I hope there is air con everywhere you go today Zizi.😎Women are like tea bags; you never know how strong they are until they are put in hot water.

Oh dear, we need a trip to Ikea to get a few bits and pieces for the caravan, but I bet we come home with other stuff as well.
Poor Oliver! My DS1 had a lucky escape on Sunday - out on his bike, he rode down a cycle path into the recreation ground car park - and straight into a moving car! He's got the most enormous bruise on his chin where he hit the bonnet. Not a good look for the first day back at school!
DS2 enjoyed his first day at secondary school and is even getting his homework done without coercion/bribery etc. - so far! GD1 went back today and when I asked her about it she said 'the whole day was awwwwwsome'!
After a couple of weeks of discussion and agonising, we decided we'd have to change one of our cars to tow the caravan. Mine is borderline ok and OH's isn't suitable at all. So today we went out to darkest Dorset (which is very beautiful!) and ended up buying a Honda CRV. OH is going to sell his. We took GD2 with us and she was very good all day, and took great delight in telling her mum and dad that she had lunch in the pub!
Dog training classes start again tomorrow, but we have GD2 because her other Gran isn't back from holiday, so I'm going to take Eva to training class and OH is looking after GD2 - or GD2 is looking after OH. Not sure which!
EDIT: I actually posted this on Tuesday evening, but it failed to land in the Chatbox!! Better late than never????"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

I don't know why the above post got lost in transit, but I was too tired last night to try and sort it out!
Good Thursday morning everyone.
Plant - I know you had a strenuous balance class yesterday, but have you decided to go for a swim today? I know you miss your dear friend, but a swim might help with any stiffness. xx
It sounds as though most of our GCs are settling down into their new classes. GD1 had to go in to work with her Mum and Dad after school yesterday (other Gran was on holiday, OH had GD2 and I went to dog training) and she had a massive strop. I think she was over-tired plus all the excitement was too much for her. GD2 was a little angel for my OH - she slept for nearly 2 hours and woke with a smile, so now OH wonders what all the fuss is about looking after children. Typical, isn't it.
GM - I think the whole business of school trips is getting out of hand. So many families can't afford them and they seem to be getting more and more exotic. It has become a big section of the tourist industry and I wonder how much of the price is profit to a specialist tour operator.
It's a beautiful sunny morning here. It's been a hectic week so far and today I need to go shopping - supermarket plus a few other bits and pieces. OH is going to help a friend repair some guttering (or something equally exciting1) and then getting his car valeted ready for selling it. I know he will be sorry to see it go, but he's pleased with the new one and is actually working out how to use the clever gizmos, like voice activated phone and a clever sat nav.
Gem - it sounds as though you had a good day with GS2.
Nanto - good news. It's always a relief when mammograms or other tests come back clear.

Poor Brian Oma ,hope it doesn't become a full blown infection.I cleaned my car inside and out today,a job I detest but as it was shady out the front of the house I decided to bite the bullet.Children were under threat of death if they as much as dropped a sweetie wrapper Last of the good weather apparently, just in time for our planned weekend of tidying up outside and putting parts of the garden to bed for winter."What doesn't kill us,makes us stronger."

Ben was in Great Ormond Street Hospital yesterday for his annual round of tests and blood tests. He will be home today.
Conversation on with Joe: me "so are you used to your new school yet?" J "yes I really like it" me "what in particular do you like" J "well it is mor grown up than my other school and there are lots of fit girls". OK well I would have preferred something a little more academic but at least he likes the school!
