βI am working on my CV today, I have worked with a cancer care charity for about 15 years in my official work capacity and they have recently asked if I would apply to fill a trustee role that has become vacant. The charity is based in a hospital grounds although independent from the hospital. When it was built 15 years ago I had just started at my company and helped to organise fund raising and people to build their garden which remains today including a Mulberry Tree (it is called the Mulberry Centre) which fruits annually now and makes money for the centre as one of the volunteers makes Mulberry jam to sell! Husband and I and a couple of colleagues from work did a 100 length relay swim and raised a lot of money back 13 years ago and when we were in our old offices we had a switchboard in the basement and everybody would bring books and CDs etc. and we would sell them for 50p, we used to hand over about Β£500 a year from the bookshop. When we moved to other premises we lost the switchboard and we didn't have any room to continue with the bookshop so we gave the books away to another charity as Mulberry Centre didn't have room for them. The volunteer from the other charity had an estate car and we filled it right up with all the books - hundreds of them!

Up at 6.30, slept badly last night. Very tired! GS left at 11, collected by his dad to go to a birthday party, so at least I can put my feet up now.
I love the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Nana, it's a nice day for itβA grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.β β Unknown

Afternoon no snow but very cold, OH joined us on our walk today the sun was out so even though it was cold we spent a lovely hour out. We exchanged cards and hubs treated us to a Tesco finest meal deal with a nice bottle of prosecco. No huge romantic gestures but then not needed as I'm blessed to have such a kind, caring and helpful hubby. He does so much around the house I wouldn't trade him for 2 dozen roses."What doesn't kill us,makes us stronger."

Sunny but freezing cold here. We went for a walk and were glad to get back for a cuppa.
We are hoping to go out later in the week to either the local pub for a meal or to our favourite ice-cream parlour. They sell all sorts of Italian dishes, lovely coffees as well as gorgeous made-on the-premises ice-cream.I expect you can guess it is run by Italians and I think it is unique ,not one of a chain. Whenever we go,at whatever time of year it is always busy.I often say I wish I had shares in that business. It can be really cold outside but after sitting with a coffee for a while you begin to notice other customers' 'ice-cream orders and after that a teacake just won't suffice! Also the view over Swansea Bay is another reason for visiting.

We don't do Valentine's presents either, just cards. It's not only men who are unromantic. I have bought things in the past.
I love ice cream, the parlour sounds lovely CloverβA grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.β β Unknown

Our cards were very similar this year, both had umbrellas on with rain in heart shapes falling with sparkly bits - mine pink and his diamond coloured.
Gem when Ben was little and stayed, especially after his heart ops I couldn't sleep with the monitor beeping constantly but you have never seen two people move so bruddy fast when it flat lined when Ben had just gone into a bed and we only had a cot sized bed pressure pad, Ben had moved off the pad and the monitor did not detect a heartbeat. We very quickly found the reason for the flat line but neither of us slept at all again that night.β

Wev'e had plenty of sunshine today, although we had a few hailstones about 12ish, then a little flurry of snow about 5ish. When hubby took granddaughter home about 6.30, he said there were quite a few gritters out and about.
Oma, hope your son had a lovely birthday.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Best laid plans 'n all that. Loads of folk at YWP so we went for a pub lunch with the aim of returning. Lots leaving as we got there so we parked up, kitted up then hail started, then rain, freezing gale force winds so DD said it would be silly to carry on in the bitter cold. Back in the car & came home to play in the warmth instead. Lovely day tho.
Zizi you know what they say about 'great minds'. Nan2 ....sounds like we had similar weather. Brrr."Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."
