        Just had an embarrassing moment.
I had to do the weekly shop on my own today as OH is out for the day on one of his voluntary missions. So I unloaded everything at the check out, only to have a sinking feeling as I went into my handbag and the inside zip pocket where I keep my cards. No debit card there! Quick panic as the cashier is putting everything through and only £15.00 pounds in my purse.
She saw my panicked look, I had to ask if I could pay with my credit card . Phew!

It took me a while sitting in my car to remember that when we took the GDs out on Saturday I had put my debit card and cash in a zipped inside pocket of my little back pack so that I had both hands free! I think I will keep this from my OH. I have never had to buy food on credit and will be very relieved when it is paid for in six weeks!

Millie, I have had that experience, and it has been when the card was last used for petrol. Instead of putting it back in my purse, I have put it in a pocket, and once just left it in the car!! Not a nice feeling until you find it again.
Picnic on the beach sounds a lovely idea Clover.

MillieB - poor you. I know that skinking feeling.

Years ago when we were on a very, very tight budget I used to add up every item in my head as I put things in the trolley, then took out anything we could do without that took me over my spending limit. But my maths isn't great and if I got it wrong I'd have to leave some things at the checkout!

Not a nice feeling MB, I don't know why we feel embarrassed, they will always keep the shopping whilst you pop back for your card.

It's a horrible feeling I know. When I used to pay more often with actual cash I used to keep an "emergency" £20 note tucked away in a pocket of my bag in case I didn't have enough cash in my purse at the checkout due I'm afraid to impulse buys or underestimating the price of things. Once I also used to carry a calculator to tot up spending as I went round the supermarket. Now of course most shops have updated this idea with their "scan and shop" option.

Another panicky feeling is when you think you've lost your purse! One down from when you think you've lost a child!

BTW we had a lovely walk to the beach and enjoyed our picnic on a deserted beach. Mind you it is rather a trek to get there and an awful uphill hike on the way back but really worth it. OH thanked me for a lovely afternoon.

Clover, what a lovely memory for your memory bank. It sounds exhilarating. Pleased you enjoyed your picnic too.

Clover - I was thinking about your walk on the beach this afternoon when I was enjoying the sunshine in the garden. I'm so glad you both had a lovely time.

                            Good morning all.
It's not a good start to the day for me. I went to bed last night with a thumping head ache and I have woken up with a sore throat and a streaming cold.
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi - poor you. Dr Daisy recommends going straight back to bed with soothing warm drinks and a good book. Feel better soon. xx

                                Get better soon Mimi!
Headaches must be catching. I woke at 4am with a bad one, tried to sleep and eventually got up for painkillers, a cuppa and a ginger biscuit! I dozed a little eventually. Headache gone at least.
The now regular morning mist is around.
