Mimi
How lovely to hear from you we miss you
Like Daisy said images of two trees skipping down the garden trailing lights with them 🤣🤣🤣
Daisy
Hope you can get out with Eva later
Lizzie
The poor couple must have been so confused.
I think it’s wise using the car rather than the bike .
Gem
Hope you have a lovely day with Baby , is S enjoying her golf again , I bet she was itching to get back 😁
Nanto
Worth trying the scones wasnt it .
not ideal weather to be putting lights outside if a ladder is involved .
Well we went to Aldi for it opening it wasn’t too busy so we decided to pop to the shopping mall to go to Asda and Sainsburys,
Bad idea Asda was packed the queues were mad Lots of cages of food just parked in the isles making it difficult to get to the shelves , we managed to get through the hand basket checkouts ok ,
We then went to Sainsburys.
A nightmare the system went down so everyone waiting in long queues for 30 minutes
It was so busy and crowded by the time we got to the checkout the system was back up
Got back home hot and flustered,
I had put the bedding in the wash before we went out , opened the washer door and it hadn’t spun off so water all over the floor,
Slammed the door shut again and put it on to spin ,
I cleaned up while B put the shopping away .
Im not going back out now I’ve had enough 😳
I went for the flowers, got a bunch of long ones for DIL and took them to their house, GD1 was home, she was telling me she is so pleased we got the work sorted at the Lidl, she really enjoys it there. She is "main baker" some mornings so is kept busy.
A photo of the flower hut at the growers, very busy and well organised.
Not only the girls, I was visited by my Son and GS3 (Birmingham Uni. One), what a lucky GM am I. Will try and catch up tomorrow before I go out shopping with GD1 and H. GDand H have moved in until after Christmas. Her OH is coming Sat. GD2 is here her partner is expected tomorrow now he is recovered from Covid. Presumably GS2 and his wife will come Christmas Eve. My D looks remarkably calm.
Oma, what a frustrating time you had trying to shop. I will try not to enter another food shop before Christmas. What I haven’t got I will do without. Not nice to have a flood on your return.
Lizzie, how lovely to flowers so freshly picked.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
I didn’t send as many cards this year so I have just donated to our local soup kitchen ,
It gives Christmas Dinner to the homeless and lonely .
They work all year round and rely on people donating so i think it’s a worthy cause .
Hubby got the new lamp up. Its under the canopy outside the back porch door.
I held the steps for him,but it was quite sheltered. The original lamp died a couple of days ago.
We did miss it,but all is well now.
Plant, it will be a hive of activity for your family over Christmas.
Oma, what a shopping experience you had today.
Had a lovely visit from GD1 and her hubby. Little Tommie came in shouting hello.
Daisy, i did cook the chops and roast potatoes in the air fryer.
It's been a busy day at the Daisy Homestead. Oma, I had a load of towels that didn't spin either. So frustrating, but they're done now. I made two apple pies, and they're in the freezer, plus a couple of dozen mince pies. It seemed to take me ages for some unknown reason. I did take Eva out, thinking the wind had dropped - but it hadn't. She wasn't too happy.
Nanto, I'ave asked DIL1 to bring their airfryer down for Christmas dinner - it will ease the queue of things waiting to go in my ordinary ovens.
Lizzie, how lovely those flowers are - very Spring-like.
Oma, that's a lovely idea to donate to a really good local cause.
Plant, your DD and SIL will need a couple of dormitories if everyone is staying over.
I'm trying to avoid the supermarket madness. Sainsburys are coming tomorrow night, and DS2 will collect the turkey from their local farm shop on Sunday. I hate those long queues and not being able to get round because they're trying (or not trying) to stack shelves.
OH has gone to his wood turning club tonight, and I'm just going to portion up some dog food to see us over Christmas.

Morning all . Been awake since 12 mostly listening to OH coughing and wheezing but surprisingly he still manages to sleep , how on earth does he do it when my brain runs random imagery conversations with people I barely know, speculate what substitutes I may or may not get in my grocery delivery tomorrow, will I get hot cross buns instead of mince pies
So far this morning I have made two cups of tea and brought the milk in off the doorstep. We have a milk bottle cool box to put the empty bottles in and last night I added a small box of quality street along with a Christmas card for the milk and upon opening the box along with the milk was a lovely Christmas card with a nice thank you message inside.
We have had a lot more Christmas cards this year which is surprising as on average everyone seems to be sending less cards every year
Oma a few months ago our washing machine decided to flood the kitchen, its alarming how far water will travel
Last week the arm of the rotary washing line snapped in half so it was decided that a new one was called for but as always things are never that straightforward in this neck of a woods
When we moved here DS drilled a hole in a paving slab then hammered in the ground spike for the rotary washing line. OH said we would have to remove the old pole , measure the width and order the correct size so that it would fit into the ground spike.
Now this is where a simple plan becomes complicated. The pole refused to budge from the ground spike and after a lot of huffing and puffin ( and swearing, OH , not me 😇) it was decided that OH would have to lift the slab up ( with said pole still attached) so that the spike could be knocked up from the bottom.
Eventually OH manged to get the pole out, replace the slab and he measured the pole so I ordered the appropriate size of rotary washing line.
The next day it arrived, OH set about setting it up he put the spike in to the hole in the slab, gave it a tap only for the slab to crack in several pieces 😭
luckly we happen to have a spare slab so he set about replacing the broken one but there was one problem, no hole in new slab!
Thankfully DS who is a builder has the correct tools for the job and he soon came and drilled a new hole .
Rotary washing line is now up but sadly it was far too windy to use it yesterday. I am sure most of it would have blown off over the fence and into a tennis club
Yesterday the vacuum cleaner broke, apparently upon inspection it was discovered that the belt had snapped and also the rubber seal on the dust cup had become frayed so as fast as I was vacuuming the dust up , most of it was escaping back out ! I have had this about 8 + years and for most of that time it has had to contend with huge amounts of cat fur ( sadly she is no longer with us)
A new vacuum cleaner is arriving tomorrow ( When did vacuum cleaners get so eye watering expensive)
Good Friday morning, everyone. It's just getting light here, the wind's dropped and I'm just going downstairs to see what has been blown where in the garden!
Mimi, don't all these domestic appliances gang up on us! My OH always says 'you need the right tools for the job', and I'm sure your DS made short work of sorting out the hole and spike. I hope your new vacuum cleaner earns its keep by being super efficient.
Sainsburys delivery for us this evening - and *only* 6 substitutions. The most innovative one is lemons instead of limes (but as well as lemons actually ordered), and 1 kg of basic carrots instead of 2 x 900g of the ones I'd ordered. All first world problems, I know.
I hope everyone is ok and avoiding the latest round of bugs. I'll pop back later.

Mimi, that was certainly a day for you yesterday.
Things usually come in three's,so i hope nothing breaks for you today.
I've been up since 5 and i don't think my feet have touched the ground.
Going to start on the mince pies and coconut tarts when i've had a cuppa, which hubby is just about to make.
Daisy, a good idea for DIL to bring the air fryer.
Dinner is likely to be chips, beans and egg.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
Mimi we could have chatted in the night. I was falling asleep in front of the telly at 9, then couldn't sleep and was up with a cuppa at 3.30!
Plant, lovely to have so much family around at Christmas
Nan2, a visit from Tommie must have made your day. They are so cute at this age aren't they?!l
Oma, the soup kitchen will be very glad of your donation.
Daisy the sand pit cover had blown right across the back garden the other day and we cant put out our small tree and reindeer by the front door as the winds have been so high. Thankfully it looks calm out there this morning.
A day of 'bits' for me!
We are popping out for 3 or 4 things, hopefully in the supermarket and out again! Then to the cemetery to visit mum and dad's grave. At home I have a few last Christmas decorating things to do, ironing (done by OH) to put away, and I will put the marzipan layer on our Christmas cake. Nothing arduous, just a few random things which need doing!
