Good morning everyone.
Nan2 I would like that dinner.
Very wet here and forecast to rain heavily all day.
Two friends are coming for lunch and a catch up today. Macaroni cheese, salad, and garlic bread on the menu.
We got caught out going to them around this time last year to discover they had our Christmas presents for us. We hadn't bought theirs at that point! This year I have them bought and wrapped. One of them makes me a picture calendar every year to give to OH and won't take any payment for materials etc. So she gets an extra present! Bottle of wine and giant Cadbury's buttons - she is partial to both.
We may put our main tree up after they have gone. If not then it will be next week I think.

Good Monday morning, everyone. It looks as though it's going to be one of the days my mother always called "the dark days before Christmas". The sort of day you need the lights on all the time.
Plant, 'your' robin must feel very safe around you. Hopefully your GS's advice will help with the pain, even though I'm sure you will find it tiring to keep moving. What a lovely family week-end you've had. Isn't it lovely when everyone can get together like that.
Nanto, do you find is hard to keep some drawers and cupboards tidy? I certainly do. No matter how often I clear them out they seem to accumulate 'stuff' and you can't find what you want. Pleased that your nephew likes your ex-SIL's new husband. It makes step-family life so much easier.
Gem, I bet you were glad the ice had melted yesterday. The last thing you need is slippery steps. I hope you enjoy time with the friends who are visiting today. The picture calendar sounds lovely, and I know they can take ages to make, getting photos the right size and shape and adjusting them to print as well as possible. Macaroni cheese with trimmings sounds delicious.
Today, I want to get on with writing cards - OH is going into the village so he'll get stamps and post the overseas ones. I ordered a new underlay for a rug in the living room and we need to cut that to size. DS1 and DIL1 are coming for the day tomorrow so I want to get the ironing out of the way and I think I'll make a cottage pie for dinner. We'll probably have bacon and egg butties for brunch, and I need to make some kind of cake. So a busy day ahead. Lots to do indoors, and no incentive to go out, apart from taking Eva for a walk."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Good morning, the cold and ice have almost gone, a few showers forecast for this afternoon, I will go to the pool in the car.
The chocolates went down well with the men in the office!!!! One of them said that the next time I shorten jeans I don't have to say I don't want anything for doing them!
We are having the December 5th game tomorrow evening so may pop into Den Haag to see what TK Maxx have as silly presents.
Oma and Nanto, I love cabbage, I see that Lidl have them on offer this week so will certainly get a red one as I love red cabbage.
Gem, enjoy your lunch with friends, I make a calendar each year, I enjoy doing it.
I didn't go to the gym as I was waiting to see how the roads and paths were, when I walked to the village at 8-30am they were all clear so back to normal again.

We are out to lunch today, it is actually GD’s birthday today. It was lovely to see some of the family we don’t see very often at the party. No snow here yet, warm and wet we are forecasted for the week. I hope it is fine for my trip to London to see the lights tomorrow. Must start writing Christmas cards, almost finished the presents. I do like to give presents to go under the tree but I usually get ideas from them, they protest of course but I like to see presents under the tree.
Nanto, I love cabbage, your dinner sounds good as usual.
Oma, pleased to hear your GS got back safely, good idea of your DD to make sure he kept warm if he got stuck. I am sure the children here would love some snow.
Daisy, I am very much behind with cards but the presents are waiting to be wrapped. Must get some stamps when I next go out, I think I need some more cards and wrapping paper too. All this lovely homely food being mentioned today makes me envious. Not much fun making cottage pie for one. I think I will get some mince from the good butchers on the parade and cook it down, portion it and freeze it. I used to love cooking things OH loved.
Daisy, I do make mac and cheese, love it. Do take care on the ice and snow, I wonder if we are in for a bad winter. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Those chocolates came in handy then 😀
We love. Red cabbage with Apple very tasty ,
funny you should mention Lidl having them in as I said to B when we go down I will look for one , they didn’t have any last week infact they didn’t have any cabbage of any variety as they were waiting a delivery.
Plant
I do hope the weather holds out for your trip,
Batch cooking for the freezer means you always have a meal in if there is any time you don’t fancy cooking or have nothing much in ,
Thats why we make meals for MIL, she won’t cook just for herself .
Enjoy your meal out with the family celebrating GDs Birthday.
Daisy
What kind of cake are you making ? I love a home made cake , Victoria sponge is a favourite or a nice chocolate cake ,
B does a lovely Apple strudel cake yummy .
Went to the Lindt shop and B got his stash of chocolates and a Couple of chocolate teddy bears , he also got a free box for his birthday on his loyalty card , (yes he has a loyalty card ) shows how often we go 🤣
On the way back we called into our farm shop bakery ,
They are doing Baileys Melba’s for Christmas so we bought DD and SIL one each , plus one between the two of us .
They are huge far too big for one unless you have hollow legs like my DD & SIL and don’t put an ounce on .
We called into the butchers for a half rack of lamb , B fancied lamb today ,but they didn’t have any till later this afternoon.
Its raining so hard no way are we going back in this .
B joked they must have to catch the sheep first , that put me right off 🤣🤣
The rain has washed away the snow just a few icy bits left , it’s very dark and lashing down .Im not fat just 6ft too small

Oma, our earlier posts crossed. Glad GS got back safely, but it's good to know he wouldn't have gone cold or hungry if the weather had turned against him. Where will you hide all B's goodies until Christmas Eve? He'll quite likely go hunting for them, I'm sure.I've never heard of Baileys Melbas.
Plant, lovely to have lunch out on GD's actual birthday. Fingers crossed for your trip to see the lights in London tomorrow. I've only cooked the mince so far for tomorrow's cottage pie, and I'll have to bake tonight. I couldn't get in the kitchen this morning as OH and our next door neighbour spent two hours trying to trace a very small leak from the sink drain! I'll have to get on in a minute. I'll probably make some flapjack tonight and perhaps some scones in the morning. I'll see how it goes.
Lizzie, I can picture how popular those lovely chocolates were.
Gem, did you and your friends enjoy lunch? I think I would just want to relax afterwards not decorate the tree. Plenty of time, although a lot of people seem to be putting their trees up earlier and earlier every year.
It's been a horrible, dreary day. We've had the lights on all day, but actually it was fairly mild when I took Eva out. We went onto the Forest but there were great puddles of water everywhere and I didn't let her off because I know they are quaking bogs in that area.

Oma Lindt is lovely, B has good taste.
Lizzie, all thawed here too
I hope you all had a lovely lunch Plant . Fingers crossed for the lights trip tomorrow.
Daisy keep Eva away from the quaking bogs 😯
We had a nice afternoon and good catch up with our friends.
I felt sorry for them turning out into the rain but the bus goes from the end of our road to the end of theirs and they are both quite hardy!
I have checked my diary and the Christmas tree could be put up on Saturday afternoon/evening. We have the baby overnight on the Friday, so after he leaves!

Raining again.
Plant, hope GD had a lovely birthday yesterday.
Lizzie, glad someone enjoyed your chocolates.
Daisy, a busy day for you yesterday. Hope you got everything done.
Cutlery drawer still looking tidy.
Plans for today,do a bit of housework while hubby is out.
Then, i want to mix some pastry, just to the crumbly stage.
It can go in the freezer then. I can just take as much out as i want when i want.
When hubby has got home,we are going socialising at his sisters.
It will mean a quick dinner when we get home.
I'll just pop a pizza in to cook.
Daisy,Plant Lizzie, don't forget to have a turn on the advent calendar.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Good morning everyone.
Lizzie, happy December 5th!
Nan2, a nice socialising morning for you.
Library for me this morning, and GS1 from school. As I am having him on Tuesdays for the rest of this term, it's back to dropping him at his club after tea.
DD2 will be calling in for the children's Advent calendars which were left here on Sunday

Great idea with the pastry it saves so much time when you intend making something to have it already mixed .

We went to our shopping Mall today , went to Asda and Sainsburys and a few other shops,
We went to the post office to post the cards to Germany but the queues were out the door so we came back and B has taken them to the local post office .
Its actually dry and bright but the wind is cutting

Trip to London today to see the lights and a fish and chip supper. Fine at the moment hope it lasts. We are leaving at 1pm from the village, DD is going to take me to the pick-up and meet me when I get back. Do your family track you? Lunch was good yesterday for GD’s birthday, Sil unable to go he had the dreaded lurgy I hope we get all these bugs out of the way before Christmas.
Daisy, have a nice time with your family
