    Good morning everyone.

3 of my favourite shops too Nan2, and I haven't visited any of them for a while.

I hope you get home today Oma. I'm sure your help is much appreciated.

Daisy, it's wonderful when a present brings so much joy and surprise

Plant eating, especially rich meals, late doesn't suit me either. Perhaps we can get cocktails in Birmingham! The cost is atrocious though, that's why I only had one yesterday really.

Lizzie, it must be wonderful to be able to make your own clothes.

No plans today, or all bank holiday weekend really!
There is a balloon fiesta near Castle Howard this weekend so we may drive over to see that. I am also going to message S and C next door to invite them over with the baby for coffee at a time to suit them.

    HAPPY SATURDAY ladies.

Good afternoon ladies! Showers here and not many sunny spells! Have just put a jumper on as the temperature seems to have dropped a bit too. Forecast better for tomorrow I believe!

Plant. I love the hardware shop on the parade! Managed to not buy anything there than what I went in for the other day. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Co-op is also well stocked.

Celebrations at GS's GCSE results this week. In 'old numbers' he got 2xA,4xB,3xC and 1xD. He got the grades he wanted for his 6th Form course, so he's happy! He's at Reading festival this weekend, his parents are trying not to think too much about what might be going on there.

Not sleeping well at the moment with bach, hip and knee pain. All on the same side so think they might be related. Will give it another week and if not any better will make an appointment to see GP. Also the mole on my scalp seems to be getting bigger, so that needs looking at as well. I've become a bit neurotic over moles since OH's melanoma. Apart from that, I'm in fine fettle!

DS flies back on Tuesday. It's been lovely having him and I shall miss him being around.

Not sure what the rest of the day holds for me, but hope it's a good one for everyone else. xx
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Wee Granny, I love the coffee shop too. One day we will bump into each other there.
Well done to your GS getting the grades he needed.

It's been a busy day for me! I was up early and met up with DIL2 and both GDs to go shopping. We wanted to go early to avoid some of the crowds and heavy traffic. GD1's school have just changed their uniform and although her year can wear the old uniform until they outgrow it most of GD's things were too small. They have to go to a particular shop which gets very busy towards the end of the summer holidays. She got most things, but had to order a blazer and a couple of sports items. Hopefully they will arrive in time as blazers are compulsory. We went on to Sainsburys to get GD2 kitted out, and I treated myself to some new trainer socks! I know how to live it up.

By then we were starving and went for lunch. It was nearly 4 o'clock before I got back home.

WeeGranny, it must be great having your DS over here - you will miss him when he goes back. Huge congratulations to your GS on his GCSE results in such a tough year. You must all be delighted. What is he going to study for A Levels? He sounds a sensible young man, so I'm sure he will enjoy Reading Festival safely. But we can't help worrying, can we. x Are your painful joints because you've been doing something unusual, or slept awkwardly? I hope it all goes better quickly for you. It's always best to get moles checked out, so I wouldn't hesitate if I were you.

Lizzie, are you feeling more comfortable with the cooler weather? You can't beat freshly baked bread, can you. Sourdough bread is expensive here. I make ordinary bread but have never tried to do sourdough. Did you find your trouser pattern?

Plant, how do you keep up with your family? It's such a busy household, but how lovely that they all come back home so often. Cocktails are lovely, but it's a pity they are so expensive.

It's so lovely to read about last summer's new-born babies taking to their feet, although I'm sure their families will be kept even busier now they are more mobile. xx

Good morning. The sun is shining at the start of a new week.

All last years babies seem to have taken their first steps.

Daisy, hope you have an easier day. Steady on Daisy, new trainer socks indeed.
Just tidying up for me. I suppose something else will need doing.

We had a roast dinner yesterday while we were out.
Today we are having colcannon mash, tomato sausages and veg with gravy.

Look at the beautiful visitor we had yesterday afternoon She is 5 weeks old and lives next door. They came round for coffee and cake and S and I both had cuddles. I had a very long one and was reluctant to let her go!

                Good morning everyone.

Nan2, tomato sausage was a favourite of my mum's. We used to get then for our local butchers when we could, as he only made them once in a while.

WG, I sympathise with the aches and pains! Best get the mole checked then you can put it out of your mind.

Daisy, your girls shopping and lunch trip sounds lovely.

We must go shopping this morning as we are out of a lot of things!
We have booked for Sunday lunch at a pub not far from where my sister lives. We will go and visit her afterwards.

                Have a good Sunday everyone.

Isn't she beautiful. She's certainly got plenty of hair.

I was going to do some washing, but I haven't got enough for a load, and I don't like mixing them.

                    Good sunny Sunday morning, everyone.

Gem, your neighbour's little girl is gorgeous. I remember you saying her granny lives in Singapore(?) so I imagine her mummy is delighted to have two adoring 'aunties' right next door. Enjoy your lunch out. How is your sister?

Nanto, I don't think I've ever tasted tomato sausages - something to put on my 'must try' list as they sound very tasty. I never used to mix loads but since I've had the new washing machine I've lapsed and to my surprise nothing has suffered. Whites still look white and darks still seem to fade in time. But it means I make more efficient use of the washing machine. I tend to wash most things on 30 though, I haven't tried a mixed wash on 60! Forty seems to be ok.

Plenty of jobs today for me to do around the house and garden if the weather holds.

Quiet day for me, no plans really. GS2 still here, his wife is visiting her parents, they live a short distance away from us. GS2 wants to improve his squash so had some lessons from his father yesterday.

Gemini, what a sweet little girl, I imagine you will be seeing her a lot, your house is a draw for babies. Hope you find your sister well.

Roughly what time do you all anticipate getting to Birmingham. I don’t think we will be much after 12 o’clock, our train comes into Moor Street. We can book in after 11am if we pay an extra £10, will see what GD and Sil want to do. I might have lunch with them or wait for you ladies. My DD and Sil are anxious not to interfere with my time with you all.

Daisy, what an expense kitting children out for school.

The baby is modelling the little suit we bought her
They love cats too so it was the obvious choice!
Daisy, baby's mum's family are in Singapore, but the other doting Grandma lives an hour or so away and will be doing one day a week childcare when maternity leave is over .

OMG what a beautiful baby, I wouldn’t want to put her down either 😁
Hope your Sister is well when you go enjoy your lunch out x

A successful shopping trip and new socks to top it off🤣🤣 you extravagant woman.

I remember my DDs school changing the colour of the uniform in the middle of her time there is was a nuisance
They changed from black skirts and white blouses to grey skirts and yellow blouses. It only lasted two terms ,
People we’re having trouble getting yellow blouses/ shirts , you could only get them in specialist shops and they were so expensive everyone refused to buy them .

                          WG
A massive well done to your GS he’s done remarkable I bet everyone has big smiles on their faces with results like that 😁
Did you sleep ok last night , how was the pain , if you can’t lie in comfort it makes for a long night of tossing and turning doesn’t it .

                          Lizzie
Is it any cooler for you ?
It’s not great when it’s hot and you have your stockings on ,my friend suffers in the heat too with hers xx

                          Nanto
Was your roast dinner nice , I could just eat one .
I haven’t had tomato sausages but I like tomato and sausage pie so I imagine I would like those too.

Got to go see to cats today ,
Then to The Range to pick up some stuff I ordered for GSs bathroom .

SIL has gone to the flat for a few days he’s cladding the bathroom in grey water proof cladding ,
DD is starting the tiling in the kitchen it’s only a straight wall across the work tops and the cooker any difficult cuts SIL will do.
When we were down there the only light B didn’t change was the kitchen one , she had a new fitting but the ceiling needed some plastering and a another coat of paint , B said she could work around it but he left it to go down maybe during week to do .

DD rang to say the light had stopped working so she rang a electrician to come out as of course you need light in your kitchen .
He came out within the hour looked at it it was a wire had came loose and he was there no more than 15 minutes .
                          It cost her £155 .

If B had put the new light up like he wanted too he would have seen the loose wire .It had been flickering but we thought it was probably a bulb going .

Lesson learned listen to your Dad and work around things 🙄

Oma, yes she should have listened to her dad!

Plant, I'll answer your Birmingham question over on that thread, when I check my train times.

We got our shopping done and dropped a couple of things off for DD1 who was feeling tired and rotten with a cold - so she thought. I said 'Do you think it could be Covid?' This had not occurred to her for some reason. Not long after I left she messaged she has tested and it was Covid. I was only in the house a couple of minutes and kept away from her due to the cold, so fingers crossed I haven't caught it. I have a Birmingham trip and an operation to stay well for!

We had very nice roast pork lunch out and then went to see my sister, who was fine.
It's dry here but it rained torrentially where we have been. Bouncing off the pavements type of rain!

We are planning to drive over toward Castle Howard later so we can see the evening balloons take off.

Enjoy watching the balloons the take off.

Not been a busy day,but its been an expensive one.
We have booked a holiday for October.
DS2 and fiancee said they didn't need/want anything buying for a wedding present.
So, we have given them the money what they paid for the honeymoon plus spending money.
We bought them a new washer about 4 months as an early wedding present.

Oma, tradesmen know what to charge don't they.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
