molen.jpg Good morning, it was a lovely day yesterday, promised to be even warmer today. It is Mothers Day heroes there will be a lot of coming and going in the country!

I hope you are feeling better today Gem, I know when GD1 was here and had similar it took a couple of days for her to recover.

I haven't watched the song festival for many a year.

I have had blisters on the roof of my mouth, painful with no taste at all, they have gone now and it has been very sore, I am now rinsing with salt in water, I must say it does help.

I may go for a bike ride early, it will be mothers day breakfasts everywhere so the paths won't be busy.

Nanto, you will find what you are looking for.

DB2 phoned yesterday, they are going to GD1 in Liverpool today then all flying to Majorca tomorrow for a weeks holiday, they have just got home from Spain actually, they love their holidays! Their GD2 lives in New Zealand, she went back packing 5 years ago and stayed there, they are so looking forward to seeing her after the 5 years, they do keep in touch of course.

Oma, leave the ladders to the young ones! That is what the man told us on Friday.

This is a photo of the windmill where GD1 and myself enjoyed the pancakes!

Morning all. Sunday has rolled around again, there now only seems to be 5 days in a week now instead of 7, is this because of government cut backs or am I just getting old .
        Time goes by so fast

Gem how are you feeling today. Much better I hope

Oma just keep off ladders! It's not safe, one wobble and you could have an accident. B shouldn't be up on ladders either. I'm sure you could find a local handyman who could clean gutters for you.
Much better that option than broken bones !

Nan2 my toaster is about 10 years old and still going strong ( I know I am going to regret saying that now , I bet it will refuse to toast bread next time I use it ) It was only a cheap one from Asda , plain white with no frills.
Now kettles, that's a different thing entirely, I've lost count of the amount I kettles I have had compared to the life span of my toaster.

Yesterday I was able to sit outside, reading a book in the lovely sunshine . On the downside it brought out the BBQ's , the neighbours across the road must have been out in force in their gardens all having BBQ's as the smoke was drifting across to the bungalows so we had to go inside and close our windows

We watched the end of Eurovision , just in time for the voting so I can't really judge if the winner was a deserved victory. I am not a big fan of Eurovision , I find about 80% of the music very similar. Apart from last years winner Sam Ryder, ABBA and Sandie Shaw I wouldn't necessarily recognise any previous winners! ( Just remembered, Sam Ryder didn't win )

Don't have anything planned for today apart from having a visit from DS and DIL.

        Have a lovely day everyone

Bring me sunshine in your smile.

          Good morning ladies.

          Happy Mother's Day Lizzie!
I'm glad the saltwater helped the blisters. Corsodyl mouthwash is brilliant for anything like that, not sure if it's available where you are.

No fog here Nan2, I expect yours had lifted now .

Mimi wash your mouth out with soap and water, we are NOT getting old!

We recorded the Eurovision song contest so we can skip through!
I'm feeling much better today everyone, thanks for asking. I haven't been sick since 7pm so just a 24 hour thing.
We had planned on going to the local car boot sale this morning, but we will wait until next week.
No plans today apart from printing paperwork for tomorrow's committee meeting.

          Happy Sunday everyone.

            Morning Ladies.

            Gem
So pleased to hear your on the mend , another day of rest wont hurt and the Car boot will still be there next week

            Mimi
You make me laugh I can just imagine you holding your breath praying the toaster didn't hear you and it toasts your bread .
I agree the government have secretly cut the week down , its coming around so quickly
DD rang last night I told her B had done the guttering she was annoyed as we have GS and SIL there to do it , but B hates asking for help unless he knows he cant do it himself ,
I must admit its not good him up ladders considering he cant feel his left leg and he falls over on even surfaces never mind wobbly ladders ,

            Lizzie
Happy Mothers day that windmill looks so pretty ,
            Mouth blisters are horrid ,
I had almost a year of sore mouth and tongue after Covid , only thing that helped was salt water gargled and the occasional ice lolly to numb it .
I do hope it eases soon as it can be miserable cant it xx

            Nanto
No fog here either , on the plus side usually if its foggy first thing it gets out lovely once it lifts,

            Daisy
What a busy day you had , i bet your aching today but its the satisfaction of getting things done isn't it .
Did Eva help or was she laying on the outside sofa

We have been invited to DD for Sunday lunch ,

had a leisurely shower for a change , usually its in out and get on with stuff,
But today there is nothing to do and we don't have to go out till lunch time so I took my time.

B said I was so long he got sick of waiting to get in so he buzz cut his hair to pass time.
Well it did one thing as I have been nagging him for weeks to cut his hair
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Oma, have a lovely lunch at DD and Sil. Pleased you are feeling better.

Daisy, busy garden day for you yesterday, the sun didn’t reach us although it was forecast.

                Lizzie, happy Mother’s Day.

I didn’t watch Eurovision, I presume we got nil points again.

Mimi, I too don’t have matching kettle and toaster. Psst, I don’t want the toaster to hear, it must be at least 20 years old but I had to change the kettle recently because it was too heavy when filled with water so I now have a horrid white plastic thing.

Gemini, pleased to hear you are feeling better, how is the sciatica?
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Good Sunday morning everyone and Good Mother's Day morning to Lizzie. Happy Mother's Day, Lizzie. That windmill looks so pretty.

Nanto, I hope you're right about the fog clearing. We've got sunshine, and fingers crossed it stays.

Mimi, I wondered why a week goes by so quickly, I didn't realise it had been cut to 5 days. Presumably it's to save money, but I would gladly donate my impending pension increase to help the nation if we could have our two days back.

The trouble I find with other people's barbecues is they make me feel hungry, but I agree the smoke of them penetrates everywhere. Fingers crossed your toaster hasn't read your post. Are DS and DIL coming for a meal?

Gem, I'm pleased to hear you're feeling a bit better, and it's definitely better to take it easy for a couple of days - the car boot sale can wait. xx

Oma, your DD is right to be annoyed about B cleaning the gutters. Honestly, what are the pair of you like! It's nice to have a long shower sometimes, rather than a quick in and out.

OH has gone to the Beaulieu auto jumble this morning. He did invite me to go with him, but I politely declined. Just off to do some more gardening, and get some washing out on the line.

Daisy the Eurovision Final was amazing in Town at the very end everyone sang inside the Venue*You'll Never Walk Alone* it was sung outside the Venue by the crowd and according to people who where there it was fabulous I would have loved to have gone over but there where no trains back to The Wirral, thank you British Rail.

DS is hoping to pop into a local Estate Agent tomorrow morning about an apartment we viewed on Friday morning Daisy its down on The Promenade at New Brighton (just behind those funny shaped house's on the front) even though it is only 1bed it is very nice indeed.new carpets throughtout/ fully fitted in the kitchen with washer/dryer/cooker/fridgefreezer the bonus is that the energy bill are all included tomorrow morning he is going to the office to apply for it I really hope he is lucky with it .

Off now to get myself busy with my dinner for later am having dine in for DS & me I'm so lazy with our meals lately but at least I never have any waste.

I am having a peaceful afternoon!
In the garden watching OH stain the garden fence and reading the 3rd Richard Osman book which I have been lent.
I have coloured my hair this morning which I found quite exhausting! So a restful afternoon seems a good plan.

Had a lovely lunch and afternoon at DDs played a game of draughts with GS , he’s going to try to teach me Chess.
I don’t think I will pick that up but I will try 😁

Its starting to rain now .

Glam, I didn't particularly want to watch the Eurovision Song Contest (and thought our entry was rather weak!) but I would have loved to have been in the city with all the crowds. I bet the atmosphere was electric. What a shame the trains were on strike. Was the ferry on strike as well, although I don't suppose it runs that late at night. It had crossed my mind that I bet the taxi and Uber drivers did good business though, getting visitors from one place to another.

I do hope your DS gets that apartment. It sounds perfect, and what a great location. I first fell in love with New Brighton prom when I was on a school trip when I was about 9. I never dreamt I would be lucky enough to live in the area for a few years. I'm sure that man's chickens will love their palatial home.

Gem, a peaceful afternoon is just what the doctor would have ordered if you could have seen one. Are you enjoying the RO book?

Oma, good luck with the chess. I've never played but it looks very hard. It clouded over here but no rain so far.

I've spent most of the day gardening. OH didn't get back from the auto jumble till 4 o'clock, so I was glad I hadn't gone with him. It was huge, apparently.

We had a couple of cups of tea and OH had a sit down for a while, then we went over to DS2 and DIL's to take her birthday presents. They had taken their DDs to the travelling fair in the afternoon, and the girls had had a wonderful time, until GD2, who is a real speed merchant and loves the hairy rides felt sick! They had been on one ride which turned right over, like a ball rolling along, and we think she needs to avoid being upside down in future! GD1, who wasn't so keen on the ride but did it, felt fine! We had a cup of tea there and stayed much longer than we'd planned as we hadn't seen them for a while and had a lot to catch up on. I was very impressed with DS2's vegetable garden - it's his first full year and everything is thriving. The dogs are always pleased to see each other, and DIL and I even had a few minutes to chat about this and that.

Wall to wall sunshine this morning.

No plans today, just make sure everything is neat and tidy.

Easy dinner, i made 2 corned beef, baked bean and mash pies yesterday.
One for today and one for the freezer.
I'll just bung it in the air fryer. Notice that technical term I used there.

New kettle and toaster arrived about 5ish yesterday.

Hope you are feeling OK now Gem.

                                Good morning everyone.

Nan2, we have that sunshine too I'm fine now thank you. That cat is like the one DD2 had for 18 years.

What a lovely afternoon that was Oma. I have never attempted chess.

Yours sounds a lovely afternoon too Daisy, I feel sick even reading about the ride which made your GD feel sick!

Library Friends committee meeting this morning. I got all my paperwork ready yesterday.
This afternoon I will be having a reflexology treatment. I have these at home, so even more relaxing.
OH is on her way to Bradford to play golf. She will be gone until mid to late afternoon I think.
I have washing in the machine ready to hang out before I go out this morning. I'm not sure it wont rain later despite the sunshine so I want to get it out there.

                                Have a good week everyone.
