What are you Doing Today?

We have just waved off the young family, they are off to Disney for a few days. We are missing them already, the house seems very quiet. GGS1 is such a little rascal, his sister who is 3 is a sweetie. We are going to have a quiet day, DD has a very bad chesty cough. the weather is quiet, no rain, no wind, sunny atm. It is a pleasure to drive on the roads here. We went on a trip back to Cherbourg yesterday, had a trip (well almost) around a submarine and a wonderful aquarium.

WG what a good hard working carpenter to get all the wardrobes fitted and cleaned up after himself. You will soon have things as you want them

Gemini, I am pleased the visit to your mum went well, she must love seeing the baby. Have a good meal out this evening with your friends.

I have had two lovely cards and presents from the others, smellies from DD and sil and brandy from GS and family

Good Saturday morning, everyone. I'm pleased I'm early enough online today to actually use the word "morning"!

Not exactly a quiet day for us again. OH and our next door neighbour are currently fitting the new oven. I'm holed up in the living room keeping Eva company because she was trying to 'help'

DS2 and DIL are coming for lunch tomorrow, so I'll have to work out how to use the oven today, and re-learn about electric oven settings as I've used gas for over 20 years. Still, it will be a bonus having two ovens to get things wrong in! Haha.

I think I'll do some baking this afternoon to give it a try-out.

Happy birthday, Plant. I do hope your DD is soon better - a chesty cough is horrible and even worse on holiday.

WeeGranny, your new bedroom sounds lovely, and the fitter must have worked really hard to get it done, plus cleaning up after himself.

Oma, we didn't eat out,only did supermarket shopping today.
Put everything away the tidied the freezers again.
Rain stopped a couple of hours ago,but its cooler than the past few days have been.

It’s still dark and raining here,
DD & SIL walked over with the dog under SILs golfing umbrella ,
Made them Hot Chocolate to warm up then when they were ready to go home B wanted to take them in the car but they wanted to walk back , gives the dog his exercise and he won’t need to go out for a walk later .

We are being very lucky with the weather, it is very mild and quite a lot of sun. We have been to look at a very large cathedral this afternoon. GS and family arrived in Disney safely and have sent us some pics. We are going out to eat this evening for my birthday and tomorrow is out last day so we shall have to eat up the contents of the fridge. We are returning by the tunnel which is about four hours driving from here.

Plant, it sounds as though you have had a lovely holiday, but over all too soon. Safe and comfortable journey home.

It took longer to put the new oven in than we expected, but it's there and working. I cooked trout in it for dinner and it was fine. I ran out of time to do some baking, though, but I did take Eva out for a good walk. It was raining and going dark, and there was no-one around in the Forest, so I let her off at the river and she had a good splash around. It was properly dark by the time I got home.

It's still mild, though, and so far haven't needed the heating.

Oma, I bet those small trick or treaters were delighted you welcomed them.

Have a nice family day today Daisy. It's been very mild here too the last day or two, but wet.

It's not raining this morning, which is always a bonus at this time of year!
We are having DD2 and 3's families round today. My excuse to put up the Halloween decorations I have a pumpkin pinata full of sweets and apple bobbing and have printed some Halloween colouring sheets for GS2. Sadly DD and GS1 can't be with us. GS1 loves Halloween so it's a pity. However the reason is he and his mummy are in Glasgow to see a WWE match so I think he is well compensated! DD is looking forward to it much less of course.

Dry this morning,sky looks to be brightening up.

Not much happening today.

Dinner will be cod in breadcrumbs,mashed potatoes,sprouts,carrots and parsley sauce.
Been fancying the fish for a couple of weeks,but couldn't get it in the supermarket, until yesterday.

Storm loves a very early walk , when he stays over sometimes we are out walking at 5 when the Dew is still On the grass ,
He goes mad to get under bushes I think he smells the foxes and squirrels 😁

Oma, I think the wolf would be scared!! Great costume. We passed several adults dressed for a Halloween party on our way to the meal last night.
