Good morning everyone, it is still very warm, it was the warmest day for the end of October yesterday, ever! 24 degrees and will be the same today. I have had a walk to the shop and will go for a bike ride.

I love the photo Oma!! Oma, I don't know about in the UK but they don't need a wallet here, just use the phone!

Gem, have a good day with the children and grandchildren.

Daisy, both you and Eva would enjoy the walk through the woods.

Nanto, enjoy the fish, it sounds delicious.

Good morning everyone. I hope you all enjoyed a lie in with the hour going back.

Still busy here. Sainsbury's have delivered - which is good since it included today's dinner! I've tidied the fridge, put the food away, cut OH hair (not a big job, but he was looking very wispy!) and have popped in for a quick 'hello' before getting to grips with using both ovens in the new cooker.

Oma, I'm sure GS1 had a good night out, I hope he didn't get a chill on his chest though! Suggestions for where to put his phone - answers on a postcard!!!

Plant, enjoy your last day of your holiday.

Gem, enjoy your family day as well. Have you carved pumpkins?

Nanto, enjoy your fishy dinner today.

Lizzie, weather records seem to being broken regularly this year, don't they. Enjoy the warm days while they last.

We went to see the Bayeaux Tapestry this morning, really worth seeing. Bayeaux Is a lovely town with an amazing Cathedral. We came back for a sandwich lunch and then I fell asleep. DD and Sil have gone out for a walk, after my cup of tea I will go up and pack. We have an early start tomorrow to get to the tunnel.

Oma, love GS’s outfit, I hope he had a good time. Pass on where he kept his phone.

Daisy I hope you are getting used to your new cooker before the next family visit. I used to cut my OH’s hair.

Busy and fun day for you Gemini, we have never gone for decorations for Halloween, OH objected as it was an American idea brought over. GD1 and her OH are on a trick or treat trail on their estate so have decorations outside and lots of treats.

Plant, my OH says Halloween is just an American idea, I say Bah Humbug!! I would like to see the Bayeaux Tapestry .

Daisy, yes, pumpkin carved this morning!

We had a lovely afternoon. We had a pumpkin pinata, pin the nose on the witch, apple bobbing and Halloween colouring. And food of course! Everyone got to have a go with the baby Some pics on the Halloween section.

We Scots always celebrated Hallowe'en, but not to the extent that it's done now. As children, we dressed up ( but not in bloodthirsty outfits) and went out 'guising'. We knocked on doors and had to tell a joke/recite a poem/sing a song and we were rewarded with sweets, or if you were very lucky, money. No nastiness! At parties we 'dooked' for apples. tried to eat scones covered in treacle from a string strung across the room , feeling in flour for whatever was scary etc. I wish things hadn't taken on the American idea of Hallowe'en. Sorry to those ladies who enjoy it!

Wandered down to watch GS play football this morning. Luckily the rain stayed away, but it poured down later this afternoon.

I got on with the job of sorting out Winter clothes and putting them away in my nice new wardrobe! The Summer ones can wait until tomorrow to be put away. I found clothes I'd forgotten I had and they all still fit me!

Got a nice piece of steak from the bitcher yesterday, so I'll have that with some mushrooms, tomato and veg for dinner tonight.

I don't like these early dark evenings....and this is only the start of them!

                  Enjoy your evening ladies x

ps Safe journey home tomorrow Plant!

Plant, I'm sure you found the Bayeux Tapestry fascinating, and I bet you would have like to have seen the back of it as well to see how neat that is! I hope you have a good journey back tomorrow.

WeeGranny, we've never really got 'into' Hallowe'en but I do admit I like the sound of your Scottish celebrations. There's usually some sort of slightly organised trick or treating in our road, like leaving a pumpkin or lantern out at the front if you are happy to have little tricker or treaters, but this year there's been nothing so far. I'll see what happens tomorrow - I've got a good supply of treats in, just in case. If they don't get used we'll have to eat them ourselves.

Gem, glad you got your pumpkin carved in time for your visitors.

Lizzie, is your Autumn heatwave still with you?

The new oven did well today! I did roast chicken, roast potatoes, sweet potatoes and parsnips, plus peas, carrots and purple sprouting broccoli. It was luxury to have two ovens, and the potatoes had the luxury of an oven all to themselves and they came out brilliantly - crisp and crunchie edges, buttery insides and just how we like them. The other roasted veggies were ok, but not quite up to the same standard. I was surprised how much less stressful it was having the extra oven space, and that was just a meal for 4. So it's a keeper!

my DD has a huge range with two large ovens and two small ones ,
Christmas lunch for us all is no bother for her , she says the same thing it takes away the stress as everything has a place to be 😁
Wish we had one when we did the hosting years ago ,
Your Roast potatoes sound mouth watering , yummy 😁

We have the same system for Trick or Treaters , the children only knock on doors with Pumpkins or Decorations ,
It is very Americanised now we only had Penny for the Guy and never knocked on doors ,
But it is only once a year and I must say the children and parents do make a great effort with costumes
We missed them coming around during COVID .

We don’t get as many as we used to
I miss Carol singers too .

Good morning, you would be pleased with the 2 ovens Daisy, the meal sounds delicious. Yes, we still have our heatwave, rain is forecast this week though, we certainly can't complain, I had a lovely long bike ride through the woods etc yesterday, it was busier than normal with the weather being so nice. I did enjoy it though.

The younger ones do halloween here, some area's have decorated houses etc. Many years ago we would carve a lantern out of a turnip! That was our halloween.

WG, I am not keen on the dark evenings, it seemed to come all at once last night, I expect we will get used to is, as usual.

I start the aqua today and the gym tomorrow.

Not a bad morning,so i think i'll put some darks in to wash.

Daisy, pleased you are happy the new oven.
We have a double oven. The large one gets used 3 or 4 times a year.
Always used the small oven, but that gets used less since getting the air fryer.

                              Good morning everyone.

Nan2 and Daisy, my OH wishes we had a double oven. DD2 has a range like Oma's DD's and we can see how it helps with big gatherings.

Daisy your dinner is making my mouth water!

Lizzie, make the most of the warm weather!

Bright and sunny Halloween morning here.
                              No plans today.
We will leave a lantern and witches hat lit outside for trick or treaters tonight. Just early ones though. Later it's greedy groups of teenagers who want to grab a handful, so we bring it all in around 7 and then there will be no more knocks. I don't know why I say We as OH hates trick or treaters coming!!
Halloween is big in DD2s village, houses and businesses decorating for a competition and a Halloween trail. I was thinking of going this year, but talked myself out of it, as OH won't come and I don't like the dark drive home.

Good Monday morning, everyone. The sun is shining, here, but rain is forecast later.

Lizzie, your bike ride in the sunshine sounds wonderful. Have you got beautiful Autumn colours to enjoy?

I noticed this morning that quite a lot of trees near us have already lost all their leaves. I did't even see it happening!

Gem, I think it's great when any community comes together like your DD2's village, whatever the reason. Generally our teens are very polite, but you never quite know when you open the door, do you!

Nanto, I need to get some washing in as well, although I think it will be raining before I can get them dry. Even if you don't use either of your ovens a lot, it's good to have them there for big meals.

Oma, your DD's range sounds perfect for large gatherings. My MIL had a Rayburn and she used it a lot. There was always a huge kettle on the hob as well. But they had plenty of space and a large family.

Glamm, I'm sorry if I missed it, but did you enjoy the lights in Liverpool the other day?

WeeGranny, I meant to ask, is your GS ok to play football etc after his injury?

The washing machine's calling, I'd better get on!
