Good morning ladies, welcome to the weekend!
It's very sunny here too, with a stiff breeze.
Nan2, I agree the forecast is good for the next few days , let's keep our fingers crossed it's right. Have a nice time in town.
Well done getting the gardening done Plant.
Welcome back Oma! Take time to get over your holiday now!
I had lovely birthday and felt very loved and special!
It was good to spend some of the time with GD and GS2. He came out of school with the biggest grin and said Happy Birthday Grandma, giving me a hug. I was impressed he had remembered throughout a school day!
Nice chat with DD when she collected them, and our fish and chip tea to finish
Today the family are coming round for lunch. In the garden if not too windy! Wood fired sourdough pizzas (fabulous, from Aldi!) baked potates, salad, vanilla baked cheesecakes (courtesy of Sainsburys) with a big bowl of mixed berries. I have some Prosecco and Bucks Fizz in the fridge too for those who are not driving. There was some whispering between OH and DD2 yesterday so I am guessing a birthday cake was being discussed! I don't always see family on or near my birthday, but a Friday birthday was a good excuse for a weekend get together!
Enjoy your Saturday everyone, what are you all up to this weekend?“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Good morning, Nanto. More lovely fairies - these are rather fashionable with their umbra dresses, aren't they. Yesterday was very productive - time to relax and shop today.
Plant - I'm sure you're pleased about getting so much done in the garden. I hope you don't suffer for it today. How lovely if the gardener brings that beautiful dog along with him. It sounds as though there is a lot of work to do, but I'm sure your SIL's nephew will make short work of the lawn. It's growing so quickly just now.
Lizzie - I can't imagine Alaska being that warm, but it must have been a great holiday.
Oma - welcome home. I hope you slept last night and don't feel too tired. Time to sit down and plan your next get-away.
Gem - I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and have lots of lovely things organised for this week-end.
I had a productive day yesterday. I ended up baking all 4 layers of DS1's birthday cake, which I had to do in two batches. They all turned out ok, thank goodness, and are now in the freezer until it's time to decorate them. I made a large batch of flapjack to take up to DS1's tomorrow, and rock buns for OH. I also cooked a joint of beef, which we used a little of for dinner last night. I'll make dinner with it today and slice the rest to open freeze. If that works ok, I can cook the meat for the party early and freeze it in slices - it will save a lot of time on the day before the party. Today is warm and quite sunny, so I've stripped the guest bed and am washing everything. That room has been used as a bit of a dumping ground when the workmen were doing the stairs, then OH had Meccano bits and pieces everywhere and it needs a good spring clean! Another job I can tick of the list.
I hope everyone is ok and enjoying some sun today.

Gem - you posted while I was typing. What a lovely day you had yesterday, and with a week-end of celebrations to enjoy as well. I'm impressed your GS2 remembered what a special day it was. What a little sweetheart he is. I hope the weather stays nice for your birthday lunch in the garden today, and I'd think the odds are favourable that there will be birthday cake - prepare yourself for candles as well!
Have a beautiful day. xx"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Gem - the cake is actually very simple - I'll just layer it up with jam and butter cream and top it off with ready-made fondant icing - that's the limit of my cake-decorating skills.
The great thing about having done the back garden is that we can take time out to sit and relax in the sunshine whenever we feel like it. We've never had comfortable garden furniture before, and it's fantastic to be able to flop down with a drink and enjoy the garden. I feel as though I'm instantly on holiday.

Bit of a rush this morning, woke late and now I am trying to catch up. I am spending the day with GD and baby H, not sure what we are going to do yet.
Gemini, what a lovely birthday. What a sweetie your GS2 is to have remembered it was your birthday.
Daisy, you sound very well prepared for the birthday party, cake sounds gorgeous. I am not sure how you open freeze meat. A garden must always have a seat to sit and admire your work. My OH had a bench in his veg garden, he used to sit there and string his onions and rest and admire his vegetables.
How exciting Oma going to see the new baby, lots of cuddles. Are the men going to wet the baby’s head?
Nanto, love the graphic. I hope your shop for new specs is a success. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Hallo everyone, Nanto, I picked my new specs up yesterday, quite a good bit lighter now but I am pleased with them. Titanium and weigh next to nothing, extra thin glass in as well.
Gem, hope today goes well for you and Daisy, you are so well planned!!!!!
Oma, you would enjoy seeing the baby for the first time.
Plant, I hope you enjoy your day with GD and little H.
I have a friend and he sings in local sea shanty choir?, they give a show each year along with choirs from other towns and villages, I met him in the village early this morning and he told me they would be starting at 11-30, I changed my plans for today and I went, his wife came and we sat and watched together, we had a good chat and really enjoyed the show! I came home on the bike singing........ Sweet Molly Malone!!! We have a new mayor, a young man and I saw him arrive with his, very smart, wife. She came and sat next to us, when she left I told my friend it was the new mayors wife, she asked how I knew? I told her I saw them arrive hand in hand!!

Lizzie - your are not only a busy lady, you get to do and see lots of different things. I'm sure the sea shanties put a smile on everyone's face. How sweet that the mayor and his wife arrived holding hands.
Plant - I'll slice the meat (well, ask OH to do it) and spread it out slice by slice on a tray. Freeze it and then interleave it with greaseproof paper and put it in a freezer bag. I've never done it with beef before, but often do it if I've cooked a large ham and there are leftovers. It is an experiment though, but if it works I can cook the beef for the party this week and do the same. I've only got a small oven, so can only do one thing at a time.
Oma - how exciting, your first cuddles with baby Finn. I do hope he's awake for his Auntie Oma's first visit. How is Clare now? Is she recovering ok?
Nanto - glad your OH got his new specs without too much financial damage. We've escaped any rain today, although it has been quite windy.
Gem - I hope you are still partying and having a great time. xx
