Oma - sorry I missed your post - I was typing! I hope you've had a lovely lazy day and feel better now.

Your poor neighbour and even more so her parents and all those who had to care for her yesterday. I do wish there was a solution for her.

Clover - a 'drifting through the day' sort of Christmas is lovely. So relaxing and I bet you and DS1 enjoyed doing the jigsaw together. Poor DS2 - he'll have to have a Christmas Day when he's better.

Lizzie - it's certainly colder for you than us here in the UK, although some parts have got snow. By the way, I don't think you can put too much red wine in stewed pears. How long were they in the slow cooker for? I do hope you've had a lovely day with family.

We've had a lazy day. We took Eva up to the paddock late morning. She was very tired from the last 2 days, but hadn't had any exercise so we thought she'd appreciate a run round. She didn't run quite as much as usual, but that was ok, and she had lots of fun. We got home, had a turkey sandwich (we're so innovative in our house!) and watched Home Alone 3. OH, bless him, did some of the clearing up from yesterday and I watched Paddington. I'm just off to make dinner, feeling I've had a nice lazy day.

Tomorrow is GD2's birthday, so at some point we'll pop over to deliver her presents, other than that, another quiet day for us.

Pleased to read you all had a nice family Christmas. All the family have been in and out over the last two days but there were only seven for lunch on Christmas Day. All the family were here Christmas morning, even DS, Dil and GS3 popped in in the morning to open presents. We seemed to have been able to plough through all the wrapping paper. Under the Christmas tree looks very bare now just needles. GD2 and her partner are here for a day or so.

Just a quick one as I am shattered!!! The meal went very well and the pears were a huge succes, they were in the slow cooker about 8 hours Daisy, I have never done them with wine so wasn't sure how much to put in, in fact I can't remember the last time i did them, another succes was the apple crumble, a recipe from the Hairy Bikers, including oats then chopped nuts sprinkled on the top before baking, delicious!!!!

I will catch up in the morning.

Lizzie - I can see I'll have to try pears done in the slow cooker. Sometimes it's hard to get them just right doing them on the hob - hard in the middle and squishy on the outside. I like the sound of your Hairy Bikers apple crumble as well. I hope you sleep well tonight after your very busy day.

Plant - I should think your head is in a whirl after all your family's comings and goings, but lovely to have GD2 and partner there for a couple of days.

                  Good morning everyone

Lizzie, the pears sound lovely. I always use a quarter or so oats in the flour when I make a crumble.

So nice to read about the Christmases we all had.
Sad to read about plans changed due to the dratted Covid. I hope no one is poorly with it. Luckily although I know of several families affected this last couple of weeks, no one has been very ill, if ill at all.
The friends we spent Christmas Eve with were spending Christmas Day alone, as T's DD and family all tested positive so had to stay home. OH's brother and SIL spent it alone as both their DDs and families tested positive.
Lots of unused turkeys it seems! I think those of us whose plans were not disrupted by this can count ourselves lucky to be honest.

Boxing Day was lovely. Just so good to have the family here, plenty of food and just relaxed time with everyone able to spend time together. A Boxing day get together has always been thing in our family, and was very much missed by all last year.
Added joy was DD3 showing the scan photo (and one for OH and I to keep ) and telling the GC. GD and GS 1 were delighted, GS2 was happy too but confused. He mixed the baby up with a baby GS1 loves and is already 6 months old I explained the baby is very tiny now and has to grow a lot and we will meet it in the summer. I think he gets it now!

Lovely peaceful day in today, just us two.
I have solicitors l[et7tres and car taxing to do, but today is a Bank Holiday. I will forget it all and leave it all until tomorrow

I hope all our ladies and their families are feeling well xx

Good morning one and all from lazy Daisy! I slept in till 9.30 - such luxury.

We're probably going to pop over to see GD2 and take her birthday presents - hard to believe our baby of the family is 8! She's so excited. After that I think another lazy day is on the cards, although I will do some clearing up - I just left everything yesterday.

I'll catch up properly later. xx

Oma. DIL1 is a very good cook, she and DS1 commented at how tasty the crumble was. Your MIL must have enjoyed herself, I have just done the coffee, only 5 ladies this morning, they were telling each other about what they had done over Christmas.

Daisy, a happy birthday to GD.

Gem, you would enjoy all being together for a change. Is it Bank Holiday in the UK? Not here, back to work for some!

52 years ago this morning DS1 and I arrived here, my mother never expected me to stay! I did though.

Good morning. I am having a quiet day to-day it sounds as if everyone had a lovely day on Saturday I've just got to get myself sorted with the days now I'm all jumbled up with what day is what

The only thing that went wrong was me losing the pepper sauce which DGS4 likes with his beef I was sure I had packed it in my bag with all the other goodies when I was picked up on Xmas morning but I could not find it anywhere and not seen it since

I was spoilt with presents from the family treated to lots of lovely goodies & perfumes we did not open prezzies until after lunch all sat around in the lounge it was lovely for the both families to be together for our first Christmas together my DD's & all my DGCs (2 x missing) & her partner's family. One DGS tested positive and had to stay at his apartment in LP & the other had a chest infection and didn't want to mix with the rest of the family so plates where sent to both of them.

Hope everyone is relaxing and taking it easy for a while I certainly am after all the rushing about these past few days

                        Back soon x

Not a very quiet day next door, 3 GGC here, parents of GGS and GGD1 have gone to Ikea and DD has just gone to fetch GD1 and baby H. At least my GD2 and her partner are still here to entertain them. GGS who is 4 got very overwhelmed with all the presents yesterday, his mother’s family together with our family are quite a large crowed.
Of course I am wondering how things are at my sister’s house. Her GD spent Christmas Day on her own with her little dog. That was her wish, she said she wanted to spend the day there as it would be her last Christmas in her GM and GF’s house. Having all the family here off and on over Christmas had taken my mind off the situation. I will give her a ring tomorrow to see if there is any news of her father arriving.

Reading all your reports on your Christmas with family, apart from a few Covid patients, it sounded as if it was a very enjoyable family time. I consider myself very lucky that I got to see all my family.

Lizzie, when Christmas Day and Boxing Day are weekends the next two days are holidays.

LOL Lizzie! I think it has always been the case that if Christmas falls on the weekend workers are given extra days in Lieu. Solicitors seem to think December 23rd to January 4th is a suitable holiday - but don't get me started on that one!!

I hope you are all having a good day whatever you are doing, specially Daisy's GD2!
My DD2 and family will be in Wales now until New Year, sharing a cottage with another family, which they do every year apart from last year. I have no idea how Welsh rules will affect them but at least they have got there!

We have had a lazy day, TV and Scrabble
Quiz night tonight. It is the one I set earlier in December which never got done as there were never enough quizzers to make it worthwhile.
