Just looked at the weather map. No wonder you North easterners are so tough! It’s very very cold here but we’ve been spared the worst of the storm. Hope it abates soon.

Well it’s light but still blowing a hoolie
surprisingly the garden isn’t as bad as I thought everything still in one piece from what I can see .

Nanto we did get some snow at start of storm but it’s rained so hard it didn’t last ,
lots of roads closed by reports fallen trees and the road to the farm shop we wanted to go too on the A66 is blocked with snow .

We have no Metro,Trains,Busses running so anyone without a car won’t get to work
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Oma, it must be really bad in your area! Stay home today!

                Good Morning everyone,
Very windy night here, but not as bad as I hear in some parts of the UK.

We had snow last night Nan2, but nothing like yours! I missed it completely but OH saw huge flakes swirling when she was out at the prizegiving and driving back.
Lizzie, I'm glad families can still get together despite the lockdown. I doubt anyone would obey that ruling again to be honest.
Stay safe Oma, it sounds bad where you are, and in Wales, I hope Clover is OK.

GS1 is coming for the night, he will be here some time this afternoon. OH plans to pop over to my mum's bungalow this morning to check all is OK with the storms. No other plans today. A good day to stay in!

Stay safe everyone, stay in if you can until this storm passes.

Gem, we never had that ruling here, they say no more than 4 visitors at the moment, I am supposed to be doing coffee morning on Monday but I don't know if that is allowed.

Yes, I remember your ruling being a bit different Lizzie, ours were harsher.
With all our vaccines and boosters, it would cruel and pointless to start preventing families and close friends being together again now.

I don't know what the plan is Gem, I don't think anyone does at the moment. I will wear my masks in shops, keep my distance and avoid crowds, that last isn't difficult for me.

Yes, just stay as safe as you can Lizzie. We do the same.

Yes, I think it is all we can do really.

Good morning all you storm sufferers. We've had some wind and rain overnight, but no damage apart from a few pots blown around.

Plant - did you enjoy the NT talk, or was it cancelled?

Oma - poor GS1 getting Covid again. Has he been jabbed? I'm sure you were happy to spoil him with a KFC, and thankfully your DD is negative. The wind sounds pretty wild where you are if it's even opening the letterbox when you've taped it up.

Lizzie - it seems strange logic that they close your gym earlier but don't restrict the numbers who can be there while they are open. I hope it doesn't get too crowded. I'm going to make banana bread today! OH loves it. I would hate the sky being so light at night. Some years ago when I was spending a lot of time in London I hated the yellowish grey colour of the sky - it never seemed properly dark.

Gem - it certainly is a good day to stay indoors if you can. It will be nice having GS1 overnight. I hope your mum's bungalow is ok.

Glamm - how lovely to spend a few days with your friend in Liverpool. She sounds a very interesting lady, and I'm sure you both never stopped talking and laughing.

Nanto - thanks for the photos. You had a good covering of that white stuff.

Mimi - sorry I didn't see you post yesterday. I know what you mean about random thoughts. You know you want to stop them but don't seem able to, and often the next day you can see them for what they were, but at the time they seem to grab hold of you. Booking a taxi to go for your boosters is such a good idea. Stay safe. We don't have a smart meter. I would rather spend money on heating when it's cold than go out for a meal or whatever. If it's cold, we put the heating on, and I'm very grateful that we can do that.

I did a bit of catching up on chores yesterday, and on impulse tidied out the drawers in my bedside table and dressing table. I ended up with a bag for textiles recycling and another for a charity collection due next week. I really should do the same with my wardrobe as well. I haven't even properly swapped summer and winter clothes yet!

We were hoping to do some tidying up in the garden today, but it's wet and windy and we can't put things on the patio until patio man has come to finish off a bit of grouting. The last tub of grouting he opened had gone 'off' and it was too late to go and get another one, so hopefully he'll come back this coming week. I'm fed up with it treading into the house, but it has to dry before they can sweep it properly. Not ideal at this time of year.

Clover - if you're looking in, I do hope the storm hasn't caused any damage your way. xx

Aggie - same for you - it looked quite wild. xx

Daisy, the numbers are restricted, we have to sign in on the app so we can see how many will be there, then, when we arrive they check our code and identity. It is all done in "blocks " of 90 minutes. All done following the rules.

In some parts of Holland where there is no industry or growers it is very dark at night, I have curtains in the bedroom to stop the light coming through, mind you, I sleep whether or not the light gets in.

Nanto, quite a heavy fall of snow for you, keep warm. You have to be tough living in the north.

Oma, sounds like quite a hoolie (sp) for you, certainly time to stay indoors.

Very dark and windy here. The talk at NT meeting was about Wallace Simpson, goodness what a terrible woman/man (apparently) she was. Edward was such a weak man, no match for her. The speaker said there is so much information about their lives that is available now. Very good speaker, he has several talks and does it to pay for treating children against Polio in numerous countries and any money he raises is matched by other famous people and the Rotary Club. I am going to see the decorated Christmas trees in the church today.
