Salad for me yesterday, salmon today, either with roasted veg or salad again. I am supposed to be bowling today, inside quite a cool village hall but my feet are still swollen, very unusual for me, so I think a day with them up might be better. I am here on my own and my neighbours put a note through my door giving me their telephone number. I am not keen on sleeping here on my own but I slept like a log. DS and Dil offered me a bed.

I hope you find your mum in good spirits Gemini. Hope the quiz goes well.

Home grown french beans sound lovely Daisy, I do miss my husbands vegetables. Will you use your caravan soon? Well done to GD’s, getting their first belt.

Phew, another hot one today! I won’t be doing much again today, but have some sewing I can do indoors. sIL is off this week so I won’t be having Dexter, I’m a free agent this week but won’t be going anywhere. My friend who I usually meet up with is going into hospital today to have a cataract operation so she will be out of action for a few days.

      Stay cool everyone 😎

Plant do try to rest in the cool with your feet above your heart, and the swelling should go down. If there is anyone around happy to massage your feet, gently massaging them with upwards strokes towards your body helps too.

Hallo, Plant, it would be with travelling that your feet are swollen, it takes a while for them to reduce.

Gem, enjoy your visit to your mum.

I have been out this morning!!! The bike GD2 has was too small for her, the one her sister has is too high, not only that, they know what they want nowadays! The make and colour have to be just right. I have been looking for an in-between size for her until she is fully grown, I found one yesterday, well I found more but the colour has to be right, lo and behold, it was just the one she wanted! We have been for it this morning, near Utrecht, 65 kms but with it being holidays the roads were not too busy. We arrived there and the man got it out for her and she said "that is it nan, just what I wanted", I told her it would be a good idea to try it out first, it was perfect and like new so the man helped us fix it onto the carrier and we were soon home, DS1 and DIL were very impressed.. I am going this afternoon to go for a ride with her and see if I can find a chain lock and she wants a crate for on the carrier.

I will catch up on more later.

              Good morning ladies ,
We went to our DD's first thing to drop SIL's card and gift off for tomorrows Birthday just in case we don't see him
Then we went to Dalton park clothes shopping ,

I bought 1 top from Klass , that's it and B only bought 1 pair of cotton trousers ,
Neither of us could find anything else

From there we went to Morrisons for fresh bread and fresh Basil , then on way home called into Lidl .

Last night we were too hot to eat so B ended up with Beans on toast and I had a picnic pork pie and a few grapes , just not hungry .

Lasagna and salad tonight something easy .

Feeling so much more comfortable today after taking the Canesten tablet yesterday , it seems to be doing its job .

Daisy poor Storm isn't liking this heat at all
We went in this morning and he came and put his head on my lap and looked up at me as much to say Nana make it cold again .

Lizzie that looks just her size , lucky Granddaughter

Im not fat just 6ft too small

Gem,hope you have a good visit with your mum.
                Good luck hosting the quiz.

Oma, pleased the Canesten is doing its job.

                I haven't done a lot today. 2lots of ironing,and a bit of tidying up.
Cleaned the outside of the fridge. Didn't do the inside.
I wasn't being lazy, just thought it was too warm to empty the fridge.

Nothing lazy there Nan2. You have done a lot for a hot day!

It was OK with mum. We have to get through the wanting to leave bit every time though. She isnt able to recognise that she can't take care of herself, and has no memory of how she wasn't taking care of herself before!
It's hard but we always end up with good chats about the past. She can still remember the name of the nasty older girl at my primary school who upset me, aged 5, by saying the would feed me if I didn't eat all my dinner (Mum went in and told her she would feed HER every meal in the school if she threatened me again!!)
The type of dementia she obviously has leaves so much detail in some memories, and none at all for so many recent things. She would be unlikely to know if she had had lunch for example, let alone what she had.
Afterwards OH and I sat outside the little cafe in the same village as the care home and watched the world go by. No refreshments are allowed for care home visitors still, and we are ready for one when we leave. I usually take my water bottle with me and drink it when I get back to the car, it was nice to relax over a coffee for a change.

Gem, the lady that lives under me is like that, she has been in a care home for a few months but is coming home, how she will cope I do not know, she will have carers in 4 times a day and someone to clean 2 or 3 times a week, I heard from her neighbour that her short memory is going, I hope she copes when she gets home. Your mum will think she can go home. When you leave she will probably have forgotten all about it. xx

Oma, poor Storm is like I am, prefers the cold weather.

Nanto, you did well to do all you did if it is as warm as it is here. GD2 is so pleased, we had a ride this afternoon looking for a crate for the carrier but we could only find small ones so they are going to look on-line.

I am going to sit and put my feet up as my leg is playing up.

Gem, i wondered if your mum still talks about going home.
Nice for you sit outside the cafe and watch the world go by.

Lizzie, hope your leg feels better soon.

Lizzie - I really feel for you in this hot weather, but you are a fantastic Gran to get such a super bike organised for GD2. I hope you can find a crate/carrier for the front soon. I hope your neighbour manages ok when she comes home.

Oma - poor Storm. I'm sure he blames you for the heat! Eva, daft dog that she is was sunbathing on the sunniest bit of the patio this afternoon! I'm pleased to hear you're feeling a bit better. xx

Gem - I hope your quiz went well tonight. It must feel so much better visiting your mum with one of your DDs - and being able to set and relax with a coffee afterwards is lovely.

Nanto - I think you did quite enough for a hot day today!

Plant - you must have been tired after all the travelling. It was probably sensible to rest your feet rather than going bowling this afternoon.

Enfys - I do hope your friend having cataract surgery is ok, and makes a quick recovery. It's been too hot to go anywhere this afternoon, hasn't it.

As I mentioned elsewhere five of us from our cul de sac walked into the village this morning and had a coffee - it was lovely to relax for an hour or so and chat. We had a laugh, put the world to rights and it felt very 'normal', but we did wear masks going in and out and people generally were social distancing. But it wasn't very busy and I think it was mostly locals out shopping. The pavements are narrow and when it's busy social distancing is dangerous because you have to step off the pavement! But the walk to and from the village was lovely - footpaths shaded by lots of trees.

Good morning, Daisy, DS1 wanted to get GD2 a new bike, luckily DIL said it is not worth it, they go to school on them and they get banged etc in she cycle sheds, so, that is why I hunted for this one. When I picked her up yesterday I was saying to DS1 that there was a lot of interest for the bike, so many views and many had added as their favourite, GD2 heard this, I thought she was quiet on the way there, she expected it to have been sold, I told her the man said he would save it and we kept in touch so I expected it to be still for sale. They will order a crate for her, at the moment she has my loose lock until DS1 finds the ones they have, somewhere! Daisy, my dog used to love it in the sun.

I have just hoovered through and need to get dressed now and do some shopping.

Good morning. Going to be another scorcher.

Just been to the post office,no other customers were wearing masks,so i didn't.
They have posters up now, saying please feel free to wear a face covering.

Dentist for me this morning, my dentist has been on maternity leave so I haven’t seen her for a bit. I think she will start preparing a tooth to be crowned. No other plans, I hope it will not be too hot today. Feels very quiet here without the family and I am missing the cat. I am a bit worried the tomatoes in the greenhouse will cook before they ripen.

Feeling sorry for the dogs Oma and Daisy, it must be difficult to keep them in the shade.

Gemini, pleased your mum was in good spirits. I like to watch the world go by.

Lizzie, you are a good GM but it is nice to treat the GC.

Nanto, I am wondering what I am going to find when I go out today, masks or no masks.

Good morning Lizzie, Nan2 and everyone else.

Your post office must open early Nan2!
That was a nice way to celebrate 'freedom day' Daisy.

I hope everyone is OK today.

GS1 is coming here today. It is the 10th day of his isolation and he and DD have been fine. They will both do another test before I pick him up. DD has several meetings today, and it will be good for GS to be in a different house or garden after all this time at home. Initially DD had thought today was his first back at school, but they say its tomorrow. Hence me stepping in.
DD and SIL3 are coming round late afternoon to lay their tent out to dry after they recent Welsh camping trip and stay for tea. I am going to do cheesy baked potatoes, veggie sausages and baked beans as it quick with little standing in the kitchen time!

                                Keep cool everyone
