Gem I haven't had it for years and years but for some reason call it a premonition a couple of weeks ago I was in the supermarket and bought some Vagisil ,
B said what do you need that for have you got thrush? and I said no but you never know . How right was I

Have you been out in the new car for a drive yet is it comfy ?
Poor Mum it must be confusing , But someone has to be firm and steer her away from it its not that your being cruel its just you know she will forget it when you leave ,

Many years ago my Mother had to go in for Cornia graft's on both eyes ,
My Brother was taking her but wouldn't go without me as he knew if our Mam wanted to bottle out he would cave in and bring her home,
where I was more practical and would just get her settled and leave ,
Not that I didn't care that she was scared but I knew it was best for her and i was a lot stronger than him

Sometimes as the saying goes you have to be cruel to be kind .

      Good Saturday morning, everyone.

It's promising to be a hot one today! As predicted, our early start didn't happen as OH is still fast asleep. I woke up about 6.30 so got up and sorted out the various vases of flowers round the house and cleaned up in the kitchen. Just off for a quick shower and then watering the pots, and Eva. She loves the hosepipe and happily chases spouts of water which gives me a chance to hose her down!

Nanto - enjoy your day out and I hope A enjoys his birthday.

Gem - such a social whirl! But lovely. It sounds as though your Mum is adapting and as you say takes each day as she finds it. The coffee and walnut cake sounds delicious. Please can I come and join you?

Oma - I've only had thrush once but I remember how awful it was and I sympathise. Is it treated with antibiotics - I can't remember. It's awful when the heat gets you down so much. All you can do is stay in the shade as much as you can and drink plenty of water. Take care - both of you.

You're very kind about J's woodturning - and I have to say he's made some lovely pieces. He didn't do much during lockdown, but now he's seeing and talking to some of his wood-turning buddies again it's re-energised him.

Lizzie - you must be grateful you can safely leave your windows open in hot weather.

I had an email today from a niece in Seattle. The recent heatwave and subsequent fires have been devastating. Her parents, who live in sheltered accommodation, are in poor health, but she's been grateful that they at least have air conditioning. So many people have died from the heat and there is real concern that such extremes of heat could be regular events due to global warming. It's very worrying.

Daisy, our friends will be here at around 2 , can you get here by then? 😊 If not we will be in the garden all afternoon!

I haven't been in OH's new car yet Oma.

It's SO hot! All I have done is clean downstairs loo and outside table and pop to Sainsbury's ( in the car, air con on full) for a few things and I'm boiling. I'm in the shade outside now with a cold drink cooling down!
OH is having a frustrating morning. Her cakes haven't risen much and the lawn mower kept cutting out and has given up the ghost with a half cut lawn!!

Sorry Enfys and Oma our posts this morning all crossed and I've only just seen them. Enfys I'd have the same kind of vision - floating around sniping flowers into a basket woven trug. The reality is always very unglamorous! Your gardener sounds like a real treasure.

Oma - I'd forgotten about Vagisil! You must have had a premonition, clever lady.

Gem - sorry I missed the deadline, but I'm sure S's cake tasted wonderful, even if it wasn't quite how she would have liked.

I've washed dried and even ironed the bedding, plus a few t-shirts, mown the lawn and done a lot of sweeping up around the front before we move the caravan. OH has spent a lot of time re-arranging wood - he knows what he's doing, but it seemed a bit pointless to me - I just wanted to get the caravan sorted out! Our neighbours are coming round for a drink later, so I need to get dinner earlier than usual - something quick and easy I think!

Glamm - how are your eyes now? I've been wondering how you're getting on. xxx

Just back from a lovely afternoon at Martins and Clare's .

Martin did a BBQ and fired up the Pizza oven , how he managed in this heat I don't know,

We ended up eating indoors as even with huge umbrella and awning the sun was too strong and hot , it was cooler indoors .

Dropped MIL off she was almost asleep in the car i bet she has a early night .

Hope everyone has had a good day and you all sleep well tonight xxx

                      Good morning everyone.

Nan2, don't apologise for being behind with posts, after our boring days last year, how nice to be too busy with nice things to be online as much : )
I'm glad you had a lovely time at the BBQ Oma.
It was so hot wasn't it? I had to have a cool shower once we got back from C and P's, and we had all the windows open and only a sheet to cover us.
It will be just as hot today.

This morning a man is coming to measure and give us a quote for the patio.
This afternoon we are going to DD2's. As OH is double booked for part of the afternoon I am getting a lift from DD and SIL3, so we don't end up with both our cars there once OH arrives. SIL2's mum and dad will be there too. This will be the largest family gathering since pre Covid! Sadly DD1 and family won't be there due to being in isolation a few more days.

                      Have a good Sunday everyone.

                        Good sunny Sunday morning everyone.

It' already quite warm here and we are having a slow start!

We had a lovely evening with our neighbours last night and Eva and their dog Missy did very well together. After a while Missy went to sleep under the table but the Duracell Bunny-Eva kept going for another hour or so. She's hardly moved this morning! In the end we watched the F1 Qualifying Sprint - OH had recorded it and everyone (except me) was keen to see it. It was lovely sitting out in the garden though - a proper summer evening. We need to do some more tidying up at the front today and I might do some washing. I'm sure there's a little goblin who sneaks in during the night and fills our laundry bin up!

Both GDs are doing their first Karate grading this morning. They're both enjoying the classes, although GD2 sometimes says she doesn't want to go, but then loves it once she's there.

Nanto - it's lovely to have some busy days! How is the birthday boy this morning? I hope your shopping all arrived safely.

Oma - MIL must have enjoyed the BBQ. I wonder if she's still tired this morning. Enjoy coffee with your friends and take it easy in the sun. xx

Gem - what a pity your DD1 and family won't be able to go to your DD2's this afternoon, but better to be sure than sorry. It's not worth the risk, is it. I hope you have a lovely time and find some shade.

Lizzie - a lazy day sounds like a good idea.

Good morning. Another very hot day today. It’s too much for me, I can’t take the heat like I used to. When I think how we used to go abroad and be out in the sun all day!!! DD has taken Dexter for an early run down by the river is is popping in for a cool drink on her way back. Gives him a chance for a swim and a walk before it gets too hot.

Had a very lazy day yesterday and I think it will be more of the same today. But that’s fine, time to recharge the batteries. I have books to read and knitting and crochet to keep me occupied. I am making a blanket for DGD, a temperature blanket where you do one row in a colour according to the temperature. It’s getting big now And I got very hot working with it on my lap yesterday evening, but it’s looking good and will be a nice gift for her for her birthday next February.

Hope you all have a good day and keep cool 🌞🌞🌞

Enfys - what a lovely idea the temperature blanket is. I'm sure you've come up with some amazing colour combinations with our changeable weather. I'd love to see a photo when you're ready. I bet Dexter enjoyed his paddle/swim. Eva is so tired after a busy day yesterday I won't take her out until (if) it gets cool this evening.

Phew hot weather for working on a blanket Enfys! It does sound a lovely idea though.
Good luck to your GDs for karate grading Daisy.

The polish men came to measure and give an estimate for the patio. Very nice (DD and SIL recommended them) but the price shocked us! We will get a second quote before we fully commit.
DD and SIL2 are going to do a barbecue when we go over, so I'm looking forward to that.
DD and GS1 have to stay home until Wednesday and SIL is the least sociable of the three so wouldn't come without them. We have family day out planned for 24th, so fingers crossed everyone is well and no one is in quarantine!

It sound as though Eva could with a cool rest day Daisy!

Enfys I have heard of these blankets but haven't seen one made up , you will have to show us a picture when its done .
I bet it was hot on your lap all that wool on a hot day

It was lovely at the garden centre this morning under the shade , its across the road from our country park so lots of families out walking , not many dogs , people are being sensible and keeping them in the shade and walking them before it gets too hot I think .

On the way back I called into boots to get Canistan Duo , the tablet and cream combo to get rid of this thrush , its driving me mad .

Its too hot to do anything but laze around now .

Gem enjoy your family get together , shame DD and GS cant join in but im sure you will have many other times

Daisy Eva will be worn out she doesn't know when to stop doe's she hahaha

I wonder if Plant is home yet , hope she had a good journey and is settled back in her own bed

Lizzie is it still as hot your end too ?
