My GD is the one to tell me off. GD has just brought the cat into me as DD is child minding and my GGD wants to touch the cat and he isn't having any of it, so he is in with me for the day. He is a bit inclined to strike out, you can tell by his eyes, he likes to be stroked but on his terms.

Nanto, sorry to hear your son has tested positive for the virus. Hope he isn't too poorly. Pork fillet sounds good.

I have been unable to book a click and collect, first available on is 27th Jan! even though I am allowed a priority slot. I am going to try again this morning.

      Good morning ladies.

There's no frost here this morning, in fact it feels a bit milder - that artic wind has gone, thank goodness.

Oma and Lizzie - it's very hard. Our children worry about us far more than we worry about ourselves - such a role reversal from years gone by when we were ready to dial 999 because they were 5 minutes late getting home! We all know what our children would say - exactly the same things we used to say to them!

Gem - a Tesco delivery will be lots of fun for today. What a lovely, clued-up friend. Fingers crossed I'm still able to get Sainsbury slots. They only work about a week or so in advance so I can't book more than one, but mostly it's ok. Any outing is good these days - I hope everything's ok at your mum's.

Nanto - I do hope your DS isn't ill with the virus. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to who get ill and who doesn't, and still also think there are a lot of false positives. Best wishes to him.

Lizzie - I'm sure it helps your BIL to have a daily chat with you. It sounds as thought he's being very strong at such an awful time. I think I'll have a go at the red cabbage today.

Nana - how funny you should mention Anne with an E - I was only thinking this morning if my GD1 who is a real bookworm, would like to make a start on some of the children's classics, and Anne of Green Gables was one of those that came to mind. I remember reading it, but not much about it. I was wondering if it would be a bit to prose-y for a 10 year old though.

Glamma - did you have another good night last night? I do hope so. Your nails sound very pretty and rather Spring-like after your Christmassy red and gold. How was the leek and potato soup?

Enfys - I'm glad your DD is starting to get over such an awful shock. Thank goodness you bubble with her and can enjoy relaxed time together.

WeeGranny - I had thoughts about leaving the decorations up until 12th Night (today) but leaving them till Candlemas will see us through to 2nd February and most of this lockdown very nicely. Good luck with the family tree. It's very hard if you haven't got much to go on. I haven't done anything on mine for ages. I got back to the early 1800s with my paternal grandfather's line, but it's an unusual, regional name which makes it much easier. I'm really struggling on my mother's side! My paternal grandmother's line is confusing as well as her name keeps coming up under different spelling in the Census records, and you can't be sure if it's the right person or not! I expect we'll all get used to lockdown again. I'm glad I've got all us grannies to chat with.

Avo - I showed my OH your photo of Bella and the boys. He thinks she's gorgeous and is very impressed at how well she's doing. She is a total delight, and your hard work is already paying off.

In Aldi this morning i came across a box of Farley's rusks and couldn't resist buying them
Just had a cup of tea and ate one , oh my gosh the memories that came back to me ,
They tasted just the same , it reminded me of my own two eating them and often having soggy rusks pushed into my mouth to share

The two GS's were never keen on them though

Oma - my DS2 loved them, but DS1 didn't like them at all. But he wanted to like them, because his little brother had them. He would ask for one and then sit with it trying not to pull a face at the taste, even when his soft-hearted mum put jam on it for him!

Did you have jam on yours?

Good Afternoon ladies a late visit on here from me today I have been sorting John's jackets and winter coats to go on marketplace on FB,anything that is made from them will go to the Dog Charity that we support. It was a chore that I have been putting off for quite a while but thought someone should get the use of them as they are such good quality and warm Landsend/Burbour/Debenhams etc a couple are well worn but someone will be glad of good warm coats surely.
Daisy I am pleased to say I did have another good nights sleep I seem to be much calmer in myself and managing my emotions much better I think.

Nanto I hope you DS is OK in himself and does not have serious symtoms.

Oma Farleys rusks where a favourite in our house,I know it is really frowned on now but I used to crush half a one up to mix into DS1s mlk to thicken it up so the little sod would sleep at night-time he was a horror DD used to always grab one when she came in from school I've not seen them for ages.

WeeGranny I did at one time trying to trace our family tree but with my dad having 9 brothers and sisters it got quite complicated at one point I may go back to it during this lockdown. Two members of his family went to South Africa and I found it difficult to trace them.

Daisy I will have to take Poppy to the vets this week she is drinking massive amounts of water much more than usual she is also putting on weight my friend suggested having her tested for diabetes I hope not the vet is not too far away and I can take her in my car,I think I shall ring them this afternoon and see when I can get an appointment.

I'm back into the bedroom now to try and finish my sorting and make the wardrobes look respectable.

              Talk soon x

Glamm its not easy sorting your beloved J's things out but it has to be faced at some point and nice to know you are giving his stuff to worthy causes .

I have researched back to 1700's with one side of my family they never moved from Driffield in Yorkshire ,
                My Fathers Mothers side ,
His Father is another thing all together they were scots and its been a trial getting much info .

I go back to it now and then ,
I must get my files out and sort them out , over the last few years family have asked different questions and I have taken stuff out put it back but not in the same order so I must make a effort at some point

Glamm - yes, definitely best to get Poppy checked out if she's drinking a lot of water, but when my Clyde developed diabetes he lost a lot of weight, and his breath smelt slightly of pear drops, so hopefully there is a simple explanation. It was well-managed with insulin injections and he reached a very respectable 15 years. Tracing that many of your father's siblings and children would be a mammoth task. Both my OH's parents have very common Welsh names, and OH's dad was one of 12 from a farming family in mid-Wales. Not a job for the feint-hearted tracing them!

It's a painful job sorting out a loved ones clothes but I'm sure it helps if you know those coats will help to keep someone warm and dry in this awful weather.

Oma - I know several people who have struggled with tracing Scottish relatives, but you've done very well with the Driffield family.

Hubby spoke to DS2 earlier. He said he doesn't feel as bad as he expected, so hope he stays that way.

I used to buy Farley's rusks and put them in both boys milk.
I loved the taste of them with a cuppa.

Farley's rusks, very memorable. I must look out for them.

Glamm, I was able to clear out my OH's underwear and shirts but I still have his favourite jacket, his fleece and one jumper, also a dressing gown. My GS3 has his Arran sweater and his leather coat. He was also very proud to wear his grandfather's university scarf as he also went to Birmingham Uni.

Plant - universities don't seem to have scarves these days, do they? Or have I just not noticed?

Did anyone else have woollen school scarves with tassels? We used to swap the tassels with other schools and there was a 'thing' for getting all the tassels in non-school colours! Anything to brighten up our uniforms.

Glam, I'm wondering how you pass the items on safely. Do the buyers pay online & you leave the items at the bottom of your drive for them to collect? I ask because I was thinking about selling some toys.

I don't usually watch tv this late, (12:25) but I'm watching all this awful stuff unfolding in the US. Trump has really damaged his already damaged reputation. 'High ranking' people are really speaking out now. One even said he's a psychopath. A typical Trump comment to his supporters/protesters of 'we' shall walk to Capitol Hill .... I looked for him, but I think he was sitting with his hot choc warming his toes by the fire. I'm not a fan.

It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Been in bed since 10 last night and I haven't had a wink of sleep yet .

Nana I see 4 people have died in the Trump fiasco. He has been blocked by Twitter and Facebook because of twittering "I love you " to the protesters. What an irresponsible fool he is .

Glamm its hard going through your loved ones possessions but if someone can put them to good use that can be a great comfort

I've noticed that I have lots of ulcers in my mouth, on my gums, inside my cheeks and even under my top lip. I look as if I have either been punched in the mouth or Ihave spent a fortune have my lip injected with botox . Well over 12 months ago the same thing happened and eventually I had to see the dr about it. Apparently its a reaction to the toothpaste I was using.
I usually use Sensodyne mint but I changed to Sensodyne Sensitivity and Gum . There is an ingredient in it that can cause ulcers for some people.
Unfortunately I forgot about it and when Tesco sub my usual Sensodyne to sensitivity and gum I didn't give it a second thought.
Well now I clearly remember it now and as getting an appointment with a gp is rarer than hens teeth I have taken it upon myself to fast track an order of my usual toothpaste and spray for the ulcers from Amazon which will arrive today.
At the moment I have just brushed my teeth with plain water and rinsed my mouth with warm salt water 😝

Daisy mum used to knit my school scarf so no tassels for me.

Going to try and get some sleep, so goodnight or rather good morning!
Bring me sunshine in your smile.
