It's been raining here on and off all day, too. And it went dark very early as well. My mother always called these kind of dull, wet, miserable days 'the dark days before Christmas'.

OH has spent most of the day in his shed-sorry-workshop making screwdrivers! <Cue "these are not just sausage rolls, these are M&S sausage rolls"> These are not just any screw drivers. These are reproduction Meccano screwdrivers. There probably aren't many people in the country, or even the world, who can say they have an OH who makes reproduction Meccano screwdrivers!!

I think I'll have an early night and start reading a new book. Night, night everyone. xx

Never a dull moment Daisy. what are the screwdrivers for?

I would like like a red bird but they only come in packets of 3 blue and one red one. Why should I have to buy 3 blue ones when I do not need them.

Oh, I nearly forgot my GD1 told me this evening that she is expecting a girl. GD is quite a tomboy so she will not be in frilly dresses and will have to like animals.

Good morning Nan2 and all who follow through.
I hope everybody is well today.

Plant, a little girl, lovely news
            Impressed about the screwdrivers Daisy!

No firm plans today, apart from a video call with two friends this evening. Just a go with the flow day.

            Have a good one everyone.

Good morning everyone, including Nanto's cute friends.

Plant - how lovely another little GGD on the way. Baby's mummy might not want frilly dresses for her little girl, but I bet she'll appreciate some hand-knitted rugged jumpers for tomboy activities.

No firm plans for us either today. I might end up having to push the unused, unloved sucky up thing round.

The screwdrivers story. My OH buys and sells vintage Meccano. He's quite knowledgeable about it - things like when different kits and styles were made when and in what colours etc. He recently put together a Set 8, which originally came with a little screwdriver for screwing all those bits and pieces together, but he didn't have one. So he eventually found one online - a reproduction, not original - for £30. Expensive for what it was, and it wasn't even that close to the original. So he decided to make one himself, and one lead to two, three and so on. I think he's made about 5 now, and I certainly can't tell them from the originals.

Very disturbed night, the emergency light kept going on and off lighting up my bedroom, probably the cat. I am hoping to watch some rugby this afternoon but it is on Prime, Sil is hoping to get a link from GS2 or GD3. Yesterday I managed to find enough Christmas bags for my presents so that job is done. I just have two to wrap. I am just waiting for two gift cards to be delivered and apart from 1 present for Dil and money in envelopes for GS3 and 4 and GGC (they have so many presents, I am giving their parents money to go into their savings accounts. I am now passing round the hat.
Will pop back later when more ladies have checked in.

Morning everyone, I am full of cold, just a head cold, I have felt it coming all week, started with an allergic reaction to ????

If I search my shed Daisy there should be a box with Meccano, plus the screwdriver!!!

Plant, lovely news, a girl, I was at my doctors yesterday, my big toe is still playing up, she told me she was expecting her second in March, her daughter is 4 years old she said and just started school. She seems so young herself but that will be with me getting older.

The lady I go to for treatment has 2 dogs, labrodoodles? She had bought an expensive cover for their bed, they had a fight over it so she asked if I could repair it, I did manage to repair it, but, why it was so expensive I do not know, they say the fleece is different, from what I could see it was just fleece, plus the zip was poor quality . I got a call this morning thanking me for repairing it. It reminded me of what a dog we had did years ago, one of the first Jack Russels here in Holland, we brought her home with us after spending Christmas at my parents, December 1982. She was such a lovely dog, loved the boys, never any bother at all, until, one day DS1 got home from school, he usually made such a fuss of her, this time we were already at a friends birthday so he put his school bag in the hall, closed the door and left, poor Tiny must have been so annoyed. I had made her a bed from polystyrene balls!!! She literally pulled it to pieces and the balls were all over the house!! She must have known what she had done, when we got home she was in a corner hiding! That was the only thing she ever chewed, it was enough though.

Morning all. We have just come in from our daily walk . We stopped to watch some Coal Tits singing in the the trees. Then was saw the squirrels rummaging in the fallen leaves on the ground around the trees , all this within a few minutes walk from where we live . In the lovely sunshine it really helps lift the mood.
Was brought back to earth mind you as when we got back home a leaflet had been pushed through the letter box from the council warning of the need to stay indoors ( apart from exercise) and not mix households because the infection rate is still alarming high in this area !

Avo are you getting your new member of the family this weekend. You must be so excited.

Lizzie hope you ate feeling better today

                      Have a good day everyone
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Colds are miserable Lizzie, I hope it's gone soon.
The stair lift must be handy for things like that Oma!
A walk does you good Mimi. I know I should do more of it.
                          Happy freedom day Avo!

Lizzie, so sorry to hear you have a cold, keep warm.

Mimi, I have some fat balls in a holder and I have had loads of Long Tailed Tits, never see them normally, only blue and great tits.

That stair lift must come in handy Oma.

Lizzie - take care of yourself with that cold. You are clever at mending things. It must have been a very expensive dog bed, but the dogs wouldn't have known that! Your little JR made her point very eloquently - "don't ignore me, or else!" It's a good job she didn't eat the polystyrene balls though.

Mimi - how lovely to have all that on your doorstep. I certainly appreciate being able to walk to the end of our road and be in the middle of the New Forest!

Avo - so pleased you're free to roam again. It's the little things we often miss isn't it, like being able to go out for a walk. I hope your OH gets the decorating finished before Bella arrives.

Gem - I'm enjoying your parade of Christmas kitties in your avatar.

Oma - your stair lift gets good use!

Plant - has water got into your outside light? That's what happened to ours - such a nuisance. How lovely having LTTs on your bird feeders. They're such little characters.
