Oma, have a lovely time relaxing with your tea and kindle. Pleased to hear Sil's test was clear, there are a lot of heavy colds about atm. I hope B's computer is repairable, he must have been tired to fall asleep.

Nanto, morning, love the exotic bird graphic.

Enfys, enjoy your time with your DD and a friend later.

Busy day for you Daisy with the two dogs in your soaking wet garden. They will be pleased to see each other I am sure

Gemini, is the library in a permanent home now. Well done locating the books. Pleased S had a good golfing two days.

I am considering going to JL today to buy some bath towels but they are out of stock on line, probably will be in the shop. I bought a bath towel from Dunelm, first time ever, I will not repeat that as it doesn't dry me. I must take some towels to the dog rescue nearby.
A plumber called yesterday to look at my cold radiator in the shower room, it needs a new control, he will come back and fix it and some new taps in the sink. I am considering having a new shower screen and some tiling done, I will see what his estimate is. It is the wrong time to be spending money.

What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Plant, I will update my Library thread at some point, but we don't really know is the short answer!
Enfys, I hope you feel a bit better after the company today xx
WG, I don't think I commented yesterday but the carer status is a good idea. Anything which helps.

Laptop has gone to the big laptop in the sky , despite trying to dry it out it is too damaged , we will claim on the insurance for it but what hasnt been backed up is lost , Apple said it was impossible to recover anything the coffee was dried like glue inside , they said the big mistake B had done was trying to dry it with the hair dryer it had just pushed the coffee around
He's on the phone to the insurers now
Luckily he had the photos all backed up and documents we needed

This is a lesson for me too , he keeps telling me to back up my stuff and i havent bothered i keep putting it off , i must do that
Im not fat just 6ft too small

My laptop died when I spilled a small amount of water on it, Oma, so I'm not surprised. I'm not good at backing things up either. Luckily our computer guy was able rescue everything from ours.

Oh dear Oma, I do try and make back ups regularly. When I did the cash check for the housing cooperation a couple of weeks ago, the man I do it with, he knows a lot about computers, likes to tell you as well, but, he said never forget to make back ups!

Cooper is now coming for his play date tomorrow. GD1 is still not well enough to go back to school so dad is staying home again to look after her. Hopefully she will be ok for tomorrow and dad can go back to work. So we're having Cooper tomorrow so dad doesn't have to come home at lunch time to let him out.

So I've had a long chat with my SIL who had a minor op yesterday (she's ok, but can't do much at the moment), did all the ironing and am now cleaning bathrooms while OH makes us a sandwich for lunch.

              I'll be back later.

Oma, a pity the laptop couldn't be saved.
Gem,pleased OH and pals had a good time.
                Daisy,hope GD feels better soon.
Had a bit of a busy day. jobs done at in laws this morning.
Came home and finished my own jobs.
Made gammon, mash, sprouts, carrots and parsley sauce for dinner.
Window man got back to us with a quote, which hubby was happy with. Windows will be ordered tomorrow.
We are only having the front windows done, don't want to change the side and back windows, i like the style of them.
One of the front windows has broken down,so we have decided to have a different style to the ones we have now.

Enfys - sending hugs. I hope your outing with DD and coffee with your friend have helped a bit.

Gem - "Sleuth of the Month" for finding all those books. Well done. I'm sure you got a good feeling of satisfaction from it. Glad S had a good time. I'm sure after having two lovely golf days she will enter into the spirit of Hallowe'en with you and the GCs.

WG - if you can get some help with care sooner rather than later it will be better for both of you. It's all too easy to keep on trying to manage and make yourself ill. A bit of help now will make a big difference.

Plant - I have been disappointed with some Dunelm hand towels I bought just over a year ago. They didn't dry well for months, then seemed to get a bit better, but two of them have already started to fray and I'm disappointed with them. The JL ones I bought over 5 years ago are our main bath and hand towels in our ensuite and are in constant use. They're still perfectly fine, apart from the deep orange ones have faded very slightly. The white ones still look great. I like M&S towels too.

Oma - what a pity about B's laptop. I hope he hasn't lost anything important. I've got an external drive for my Mac and run Time Machine on it to back up - I don't have to think about it, it's automatic. Not quite so convenient for a laptop, though. Tell B - our DS1's first job after Uni was with a chain of convenience stores, and at one point he had to go round all the branches installing new tills - which were basically computers - and providing any technical support needed. One day the manager of one store rang for help. She had spilled her coffee all over the keyboard and the computer/till wasn't working. She didn't understand why because she had washed it all off very thoroughly straight away!!

After all my domestic goddess work this morning I spent a couple of hours painting this afternoon - but it's getting cold to work in the summerhouse - I need a little corner somewhere in the house!

                    Good morning everyone.

Nan2, we did that when we moved here. Just replaced front windows, front and back doors. We still haven't done anything about the back windows or conservatory. One back window does now need replacing, the others are fine.
Daisy, I hope Cooper comes for his delayed playdate!

I hope all are feeling well today. I seem to be alternating a good night with a poor one recently. Last night was poor one, hopefully tonight will be a good one!
Today we are both free. The friend (well actually DD2's best friend) I was meeting for coffee this morning had to cancel as she needs to drive her dad to the doctors. We have been able to reschedule, and it does mean OH and I have full day together. I hope to go to the coast.

                    Have a good day everyone.

                      A nice bright morning here.
Gem, enjoy your day at the coast if you decide to go.
Its pointless spending money on the back windows when there is nothing wrong with them, and we wouldn't change the style.

Enfys, if you are reading, hope you feel a bit perkier, but i know its still early days.

Thank you Nan2, feeling a bit better. I’m out to lunch with DD and GS today. A local eatery has continued with the 50% off deal and this is the last week so we’re taking advantage. GS unfortunately lost his job a few weeks ago (loss of clients) but is starting a new one on Thursday so we will wish him luck.

Had a nice afternoon with my friend yesterday, hadn’t seen her in the flesh for ages but we kept our distance, no hugs etc. So good to have a nice long chat in person for a change.

I have started to sort out P’s wardrobe. I wasn’t going to do it yet but DD has a friend who works with the homeless through the Salvation Army and all the jumpers, fleeces etc will be going to good homes. P would be so happy to help anyone in dire straits so I’m happy to do it.

Have a good day everyone 🌞

                          Good morning ladies ,
Enfys its not a easy job but im sure P would rather someone had good use of them rather than hanging in the wardrobe ,
Im sure you will have tears and memories so dont expect it to be easy , one step at a time lovely lady xxx

Gem its a lovely day i hope you get to the coast it might be a bit fresher there but will blow the cob webs away might help you sleep better tonight xx

Nanto what have you planned for lunch today ?
We finding it harder to decide sick of the same stuff at the minute
We had pasta bake last night and although im not a fan of pasta it was lovely plenty of Basil etc
No idea what we fancy tonight

We have been to Aldi got there for them opening and we were only people in , just how i like it and nice and safe .

The insurance are sending a courier to pick Laptop up today ,
Apple sent them a report by email but they need a report from their own people and that's fair enough they have to double check
Said it will take a couple of days
B said nothing on that he desperately needed so that's good , a few insurance documents but we can re apply for a copy of them if need be .

Nothing planned for today just wait for courier , housework done that needed doing ,
I might damp dust upstairs later and maybe clear some fallen leaves in garden , stuff i can do one handed that doesnt entail lifting my left arm

Have a good day ladies xxx

Enfys, will you keep some of P's things? We took a lot to charity shops when my dad died, but mum kept certain things.
I have seen cushions made from a loved one's jumper or shirt. I imagine that can be comforting xx

Managed to get my towels from JL yesterday, very quiet in the shop. Surprised to see the cafe open but you had to book. Called at Waitrose for some bits, didn't see GD, she must have been on her break. As it is fine, I plan, I did say plan, to wash kitchen and bathroom floors. I will also put my new bath sheets through the washing machine. Today is the day my DD looks after GGD so I hope to see her too. I had a phone call from my Aqua instructor to say she has a place for me to start Aqua next week.

Enfys, very difficult job, I still have a couple of jackets belonging to my OH and one jumper. My GS2 had his Birmingham University Scarf and his Aran sweater, OH would have loved that. I found it very difficult to deal with his underwear and pyjamas. Just do what you feel comfortable with, the homeless sounds a good idea.

I have kept a jumper and a couple of fleeces and I think I’ll offer his waterproof jackets to GS. I have kept some cotton shirts as I am thinking of having a memory bear made, one for me and one for DD. Can’t think about that yet. Strangely enough it didn’t upset me as much as I thought it would, I get more upset looking at all the things he’s made over the years, his models etc.
