Good morning, wet here, I am scrubbing the "vide" on the balcony, it is always filthy and needs cleaning, DS1 is supposed to be coming with his power washer but in the meantime I scrub it with a long handled brush, when it is raining then it all rinses off.

Oma, please the knee is improving, B will have to keep bending it to stop it stiffening. I remember those tin dustbins frozen, my mother just gave up and left it is a box in the shed until it thawed out.

Diasy, at the moment I just manage meat and veg! I don't feel like trailing round all the aisles in the supermarkets to find anything else. I need to go to my veg man but not in this weather.

Gem, enjoy your chatting with the friends, are they both fully recovered now?

I fancy things like jacket potatoes, cheese, and salads Daisy. We have a New Year's Eve take-away tomorrow so I will try and be good today. Fancy an omelette today and I have some eggs to use up.

I would be happy to let your friends come through the house Gemini, have a nice chat. I am missing having chats with friends, my DD is not a chatty person. I believe Boris is going to make a statement today, we are almost in lock down already so can't change much for us. I would love to go and see my DS's family, they are only 20 mins away, now they are chatty. I must get GS3's trousers mended today then I can drop them off and wave to them.

Oma, I hope B's knees continue to heal well. Goodness you are early shoppers, I was still in the land of nod.

        Good Morning Ladies
Oma I hope B's injuries are healing poor man a fall does shake you up somewhat I remember when I had that nasty fall a few years ago and damaged my shoulder and arm I felt shaky for about a week after.

Plant how good are you doing repairs I struggle to thread a needle sewing has never been my forte even sewing on a button caused me injuries to my fingers
The weather has left a layer of snow over the garden and front lawn but everything has cleared on the roads, luckily I don't need to go out in my little car today just need to take Pops for her walk later on when she decides to wake up,Oliver has been dancing about on the garden I think he is wondering what this white stuff is ?

There was a nice surprise this morning through the post from United Utilities our water supplier,if you remember a couple of years ago we had a burst from the internal connection in the bungalow and the bedroom was flooded it happened about 3am in the morning.
After every thing was sorted United Utilities compensated us for the damage replaced the bedroom carpet and hallway wooden floor then 2 weeks later they repositioned the water meter to the front of the bungalow for easy reading.Apparently the meter they installed was faulty and after it being corrected a couple of weeks ago they have found we had overpaid by £1.052.00 so they are kindly refunding me the overpayment in 10 days so thats a nice surprise today.

I'm going to have a lazy day today and maybe watch TV whilst I do a wee bit of ironing I want to start New Year with an empty ironing basket and washing basket lets see if i'm lucky to get to the bottom of the basket.

Keep safe with all the ice about no more accidents please ladies xxx

          Afternoon all.

We have just put away our (small , didn't need much ) Tesco grocery delivery. We didn't need much , fresh milk , bread and fruit mostly.
I have just browsed our local news, we are now in tier3 . It was only just before Christmas we were in tier 1. Its alarming how fast the infection rate risen.

Glamm that's a lovely surprise, what a lovely way to nd what has been the year from hell.

Oma,poor B knee Is it getting better.

Lizzie, it doesn't surprise me that no one came to your aid when you slipped on the ice . Very few people rush to help anyone these days . I wouldn't be surprised if in situations like that it wasn't filmed and uploaded on to the Web.
I was in town, well over a year ago, when I noticed a group of people watching a blind man trying to find his way into the supermarket. He was stranded in the car park with cars moving all around him. I went and helped him , no one else made even the slightest attempt to warn him of on coming cars . !

Hope I find you all well
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi, it is maybe because I would help that it annoyed me when the neighbours didn't! Sad when they see a blind man finding his way then no-one helps. I see that most of the UK is either is 3 or 4. We still have a few weeks to go with lockdown.

Glamm, that would be a lovely end of the year surprise, I got a letter from the water business today but it was only about getting a new meter fitted.

Mimi - how sad that people are so thoughtless and cruel to leave someone like that struggling in the car park. Well done for stepping forward to help him. I hope it made a lot of bystanders feel ashamed of themselves.

Glamm - that was a nice surprise right at the end of a horrible year. Are you going to treat yourself to something you want with the money?

Plant - I do a lot of jacket potatoes with various fillings and usually with salad. I do stir fries with whatever is in the fridge and the vegetable rack, but I seem to be in a terrible rut as far as ideas go.

In our unenlightened part of the world, we still have tin dustbins.

Mimi, it shocks me that people wouldn't help a blind man. Mind you when I was a young mum, my mum and I were walking home from school with DDs1 and 2 when a lady had an epileptic fit in the street. Her little boy just stood by her. Parents were just walking past her! We lived nearby so we comforted her little boy, and when she came out of it took them both into my house for her to have sit down. She was grateful and eventually went on. I was disgusted with everyone who passed her by.

We had a nice visit with C and P, They are much better, C is fine, and P is mostly, but it is a slower recovery for him .He was much more ill.
They found it amusing us sitting in the dining room, they said it looked as though they had come for an interview They were happy to be sitting in the relative warmth though and it did us all good. We just got it in as our area goes into Tier 3 tonight, so no garden/conservatory visits for a while.

Two friends are having a video call with us this evening.

We have gone into Tier 4

B just had a gov email saying he must stay in as much as possible

I got a email from my Hairdressers to say they must close , I had a appointment on the 8th booked
It seems every time I have a appointment we go into lockdown

Its for the best though .

Good morning on the last day of the year.

                    Very cold again.

Mim, unbelievable that no-one helped the blind man. Some folk are totally thoughtless.

New tiers for some of you. We stay in tier3. It wouldn't surprise me if we didn't have another national lockdown.

Daisy, i didn't think anyone still had the tin dustbins.

From 11pm tonight we will be out of the EU.

Good morning Nan2, for the last time this year!
We expected the whole country to go back into Lockdown too Nan2, so were surprised that we still have the tiers.

No New Year's Eve party tonight. This is one of my favourite night's of the year so I feel sad. We may do it in the summer instead! Our group of friends are going to attempt a short video call to wish each other a happy new year. We won't be anywhere else so if the call works, we will be here!

Couse closed due to frost and ice so no golf for OH today.
We have no plans, so more TV, Scrabble and jigsaw. Oh, I may do something exciting like steam the floors!

Keep warm and safe, on the last day of this horrible year.

                        Good morning ladies ,

Now Gem don't go crazy girl just because its New years eve , Steaming the floors
Hope the Video call is a success at least you will see them , how is DD's hand ?

Nanto I thought we would go into full lockdown too , there is still time though .

Well I have just sat down , up early put a wash on and did a few jobs then popped to our little Morrisons I wanted a big storage box , they only had small ones so came back and went to Aldi as I knew they had the extra large ones in ,
It was empty so in and out in record time .

Came home and set to taking all the decorations and tree down ,
managed to get all the tree decs in one box , I had bought lots of new baubles this year so I needed a bigger box,
The other box I used for my Mantle wreath and other delicate ornaments ,

I then cleaned my Windows inside and the mirrors plus glass tables ,we are now back to normal
Just the outside lights to take down but we leaving them up for one more night .

Worn out now anything else will have to wait , I need a shower I just had a wash this morning , didnt bother washing my hair as i knew i was putting a hat on and it would go limp ,
So off now to get clean and tidy will pop back later xx

Tier 4 still for us, it is lock-down really. GD2 is returning to London, her partner is returning from Yorkshire so this evening they should be settled together again in their flat. We will miss her very much, keeps us cheerful and on our toes. DD and Sil are going to get GD2's room ready for GD1, her partner and the new baby when it arrives. It is the largest room, so it makes sense. GD1's partner, when eventually they get the key of the flat, wants to get it ready for them to move into with the baby. Not a dull moment here.

We are having a New Years meal delivered for us today, looking forward to it. If I get a shift on I would like to clean the bathrooms and steam the kitchen floor.

Some people are strange when they walk past a person in trouble.

Daisy, what about roasted veg, peppers, courgettes, butternut squash, onions etc and place salmon steaks on top at the end of the cooking?

Busy lady Oma as usual, I shall take my small amount of decs down soon but I like to leave my cards up for a bit longer. I have a large box too, everything wrapped in tissue paper especially my fairy which used to be on the family tree, my mother gave it to me in 1959.

We usually have takeway with our friends on NYE Plant. We decided not to bother this year for just us two. Not sure what we will have as it's OH's turn to cook. I would love salmon but she's not so keen.

Oma, I was like you this morning, I was defrosting the fridge at 5-30am. That is done now, washing hung out, I could clean the windows but will do that next year, I want to go to my veg man for eggs etc. A neighbour has just been to tell me the elderly man from number one has died, he was active until a couple of months ago, he would have been 98 years old in March.

A neighbour came and fitted my new combi microwave yesterday, I did help him, it was very heavy!!!!! My shoulder is giving me H### at the moment with scrubbing so high yesterday morning, will I ever learn.

Good New Year's Eve morning one and all.

After a very hard frost overnight we have a weak and watery looking sun, but still very cold.

Plant - thank you for that suggestion - I love salmon and roast veggies, so something I will try after I've got next week's grocery order done. How lovely to have a meal delivered for tonight. It's all change in your family. It must seem like a sort of musical chairs only with rooms and houses. It certainly keeps you busy.

Lizzie - I like the idea of leaving the windows till next year! Your 98 year old neighbour did well to be active at such an age. Do rest that shoulder, young lady. xx

Gem - will OH's golf course be able to stay open? I've lost track of what each tier means with there being so many changes. I'm just assuming I can go nowhere, see nobody and basically do nothing! It is sad we can't do our normal New Year's Eve's celebrations. We're still going to stay up and see the New Year in, although it won't be the jolly occasion is usually is for us.

Oma - I bet you're glad to get your house back to normal! I'll leave our decorations until Saturday then it's back in the boxes and up the loft. I didn't do as many this year, so it won't take long.

Nanto - we can't have wheelie bins because the ponies etc can open them and then eat things they shouldn't. So we have black plastic bags which most of us keep in tin bins and put out the morning of the collection. If the animals can get into a road people leave them in their front gardens and the binmen have to go in and collect the bags. Where we live now has cattle grids, but our previous house didn't and you quickly learned how far ponies and donkeys could reach!
