Awe bless her. Hope the diabetic food helps her. Sorry to hear she has heart failure. Just goes to show, animals can and do have the same health problems as we humans can, but they can't tell us what hurts.

Gem - I'm glad the vet has been able to diagnose kitty's problems. But it's very good to hear she still has quality of life (and lots of love!) If you have to try the insulin route you might find it easier for both her and you than you imagine. As you know our Clyde developed diabetes and he did very well on insulin twice a day until other problems relating to old age overcame him. The injections sound intimidating, but in fact Clyde (who was really tiny - about 4kg) didn't even feel them. You inject into a pleat of skin on the scruff of the neck and he didn't even flinch - in fact as I mentioned earlier, if he happened to be asleep he didn't even wake up. If kitty is laid back enough she will probably cope very well. I agree if she finds it distressing it's a different matter, but if she's calm and enjoys being handled she may not find it stressful. I can understand at her age you want minimal intervention though.
Our vet said to be consistent with food - both in quantity and time of day to keep their blood sugar as even as possible.
Will she take the diuretic tablets ok?
We've just had a lovely meal out at a local pub, and I've had the best chocolate brownie pudding of all time, plus really delicious custard. Yummmmmmm,

It's a lovely morning.Feels very mild.
Towels and t-towels out on the line.
Lovely meal Daisy.
Right ladies, you had better sit down to read the next bit.
Since hubby painted the floor in the garage,he has had a good sort out.
I wasn't allowed in the garage until yesterday, and i was amazed.
I knew there was a bit of rubbish in the bin,but didn't know where all the big stuff had gone.
Well,he has been doing trips to the tip while i've been out at in laws.
Plenty of space to fill up again now. He says oh no, not gathering junk anymore.
We shall see.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Good morning ladies,
Daisy, I'm glad to hear you had a nice meal last night. With all that has been going on in your life recently, nice meals out are advisable
Nan2, we will wait with interest to hear if OH starts filling the garage with car boot sale stuff again
That's right Oma, you have to balance everything out. With her age, heart and diabetes our cat's prognosis isn't good. She's a stressy cat, and I know injections would probably make her very stressed. She used to go ballistic at a flea spot on the back of her neck! The vets say it is up to us, so for now we are going to just try diet, and as you say give her the best twilight years or months that we can.
Since a quiet evening and lots of cuddles after her traumatic stay at the vets, kitty seems better this morning. There is still visible fluid on tummy and leg, but it doesn't seem to be leaking now. Let's hope the tablets work on the fluid. It's a half tiny tablet morning and night so I crush it to powder and mix with her food.
Thursday, so golf for OH later, doing mums shopping for me. I try to do a little task in the house for her each week now, not sure what it will be today.
Have a good day everyone.βA grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.β β Unknown

Good afternoon all
Oh Gem, poor kitty , how is she today
Our cat seems to be feeling the effects of her flu vac on Tuesday, she hasnβt eaten much but she is still drinking ok. As she is such a nervous cat it might be more the stress she would have gone through getting her there and back as well as the vet weighing her, looking at her teeth etc.
On our local radio radio this morning there was a report that turkeys could be in short supply this Christmas due to the heatwave we had back about a month ago. I suspect that this will be an opportunity for retailers to increase the price .
Nan2 best of luck with empty space staying empty!Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Gem, poor cat, my friend has 3 cats, don't I know it when visiting! The youngest is about 5 years old now and is diabetic, has to be injected twice daily and watched what he eats etc.
Mimi, are you whispering about the turkeys???????
Nanto, my garage could do with a clear out, the thing is, most of it isn't mine! Both sons bring things to store here for a few weeks, had boxes from DS1 since they moved house 16 years ago.
It is a lovely day here after rain yesterday, I have just been for some flowers from the growers, anthuriums for myself and roses for friends, 20 roses for β¬3, fresh from the growers, was just chatting to my friend in England and she would pay a fortune for 20 roses.

Hello everyone. We're just back from a day on the ocean waves - or rather a trip up and down three different rivers. It was very pleasant - warm and sunny at times, but a bit of a breeze to stop it feeling heavy. Unusually there were no cruise ships in Southampton docks, but we followed a huge container ship back into port. We had fish and chips on board so I'm excused cooking tonight. The Southampton Boat Show starts tomorrow, so there was lots of activity with Press Day today.
Gem - I'm sure kitty feels happier with the fluid problem under better control. Did you manage to get a job done at your mum's?
Nanto - fortunately I was sitting down when I read your post about OH clearing out the garage. Please, please could you get him to have a chat with my OH and tell him how wonderful it is to have space in the garage and no junk lying around.
Oma - I hope your trip to hospital is ok tomorrow.
Lizzie - how lovely to get flowers that fresh, as well as being a real bargain.

Good evening.
Kitty a lot better today thanks for asking everyone. She's not leaking, which is good.
I picked up mum's prescription, which took ages as they forgot about me! Did her shopping, and we had a good chat. No extra job done today, as I was so delayed at the pharmacy. I put her green bin out, picked up fallen apples and watered her flower tubs . I will do something over the weekend.
Moving day for my auntie tomorrow, so fingers crossed all goes smoothly.
Lizzie, Mimi is whispering about the turkeys as some people ( not me!) are not keen on early festive season discussions π
We certainly would pay a lot for roses here.
That sounds a lovely day Daisy, with the bonus of no cooking πβA grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.β β Unknown
