I'm sure you'll all enjoy the play. I can remember being absolutely fascinated that the heroine was called Darrell - a name I'd never heard before. I wasn't even sure there were such things as boarding schools! It was so far removed from my childhood - but I still loved the stories.
"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
Good morning one and all. It's dry but a bit chilly here as well, and we had rain last night.
I'm getting ready for our visitors arriving this afternoon. I'm not sure what time they'll get here - it depends on the traffic - so I'm making a cottage pie for dinner, and haven't even given thought to a pudding yet!
Nanto - it would take my OH a week-end to clear floor space in our garage to paint it. I don't think he knows about the football, though!!
Gem - I hope your theatre tickets are there waiting for you. Is the play based on the Enid Blyton novels? I loved them.
Have a good Saturday, ladies.
Daisy we had home made cottage pie yesterday
Gem if you can’t eat beef have you tried making it with soya mince ? DIL brought some a while ago and didn’t like it so she gave me the rest she hadn’t used for me to try and I have to say we quite like it, in fact I always use it now for mince beef recipes now
Dull here at the moment but I hope it stays dry as DS1 has come for the day to try to figure out clearing the garage. It is jammed full of stuff, some useful but most not as OH used to be such a hoarder. Sadly when I showed G the packed garage the other day he said that it was nothing to do with him and none of the stuff was his. Oh dear I’m afraid I got cross and argued with him which I know from experience never works as we both got upset and though OH soon forgot about it I felt awful all day.
Sorry I didn’t mean to rant !
Gem I hope the tickets are waiting for you.
Daisy, shepherds/cottage pie is a good choice as only veg are needed to go with it as the potatoes are already done.(if you see what I mean )
Mimi while the footy is on do something you would like to do ,definitely not ironing.
Gem i was a member of the Enid Blyton club hope you find the tickets x
Daisy im sure whatever you make for Pudding will be welcomed
Mimi dreaded football , B hasn't mentioned it so not sure if he knows and im not telling him , so don't you go yelling it to the roof tops he has hearing aids now he just might hear you
Nanto you will have a couple hours to yourself while hes painting the Garage floor
I was up till 3am and let dog out before I went to bed , but he came into our room at 6am and woke B up and was desperate for another wee , he ran down the stairs in front of B and was dancing at the back door by the time B got down
DD and SIL back by lunch time but his other grandad coming for him at 10 he likes to walk him so save me doing that this morning then they will just keep him till DD gets back
Oh Clover that's sad but on the other hand whatever you throw out he's not going to be bothered about so no arguing that he needs to keep it.
Bet your DS wont know where to start , usually you find things you had no idea was in there , you never know there may be hidden treasure
Hope it goes to plan xx
Clover it must be so frustrating for you, and it is no wonder at all that you sometimes lose patience. You cope so well. The important thing is he forgot, so please don't let yourself dwell on it.
Oma, I'm not mentioning it to my OH either
OH has requested some (long overdue ) reflexology today, so that is on the cards for me.

Gem, we have a double garage and hubby has a very large rug down in one side.
He painted one half of the floor last week. He has finaly got rid of some of the rubbish this week.
Hope you get/find the tickets.
Daisy, cottage pie is a favourite in our house. I'm sure whatever pudding you decide on will be appreciated/enjoyed.
Clover, feel free to rant whenever you want. Hope you are feeling better after yesterdays upset.
Oma,while hubby is doing the garage floor,i am going to clean some windows, unless the sun comes out. Don't like doing them when they have sun on them, even though i use a window vac.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
I went to see GS and family's new abode, much larger than their first house. they have had to buy appliances as theirs were integrated. They were very excited with their new fridge so the cottage pie went straight in. GGS is very excited with his new house and didn't want to go to his other GMS. It has a very big garden, with two dilapidated greenhouses, one large shed, one large apple tree, grass and not one plant apart from a dead lavender. A blank canvas for GGS, he loves plants. I am all packed apart from a few last minute bits.
Hope you locate your tickets Gemini. Enid Blyton lived in nearest small town for a time, there is a road named after her.
Clover I am so sorry you were upset that G didn't think anything in the garage was his. I am sure your son will know what to throw away or keep, I don't suppose there is anything much that you will be able to use.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
Your GGS will love the bigger garden Plant, and how nice for your GS to have a blank canvas
The theatre ticket problem is solved, by a phone call!
At OH's suggestion I phoned the box office, to save us having to go in today. Yes, the tickets for Friday are there! 'Your Sleeping Beauty tickets are here too' she said. This was a great relief! Being able to find neither set in the drawer this morning (but the Birmingham train tickets were there, PHEW!) I was concerned. I always book the Panto tickets in person, so why were they not here?! When she told me they were there I then remembered that they opened the online booking at 3 rather than 6 this year so I I had booked online, hence no tickets. I had decided to put that worry aside just now as there are several months to go. Now I can forget about it, and put them in the ticket drawer!

Well garage sorting has gone well .A lot more to do when I will have to hire a skip. Today we sorted out all the metal and I rang a scrap dealer who amazingly could come within the hour.DS helped them load it and as there was lead, aluminium and copper amongst it I made a little pocket money.Just glad to see it all gone.
DS worked so hard.He is now rewarding himself with a refreshing shower while I cook our tea.
Gem so glad you got the tickets sorted out. Something off your mind.
Nanto it sounds like garage floor painting is a long job for your OH not to have time today.
Plant the the new house for GS and family sounds lovely.
Enjoy your Norfolk holiday. It’s a beautiful, if somewhat flat, county.
Clover, although there is of course a sad side to it, clearing the garage with the help of your son will feel good. I'm glad you made a little money too!
This afternoon I have made a Dorset Apple Cake for tomorrow night when we have friends round. OH is making her Tarragon Chicken, which we will have with new potatoes and vegetables. I will serve the cake warm with ice cream or custard. I used the first of the apples from our tree.
