Like Daisy I am late getting up so it is after 10am and I am only just having breakfast. Sunny but frosty outside, I ought to go out and do some gardening but it is bowls this afternoon, I don't want to tire myself out. I shall write some more Christmas cards. I have two meals out this week, one is the National Trust group tomorrow at the local golf club and the next day is my GD1 birthday and we are all, including her partners family, going to a local eatery to celebrate her birthday. I shall be as fat as a pig come Christmas as I have three more Christmas meals to attend.
GS2 loved you to go to their house for a change, did he show all his toys. Have a nice time with your OH's Golf friends. I have had a white twiggy tree for some years Gemini and love it. Hope you enjoy having an artificial tree. Lots of people out in their cars yesterday with Christmas trees sticking out of their windows. I will not decorate mine for at least another week.

Love your graphic Mimi, a cup of coffee, warm woolly socks and a good book, just right for this weather.

Good morning everyone. It was frosty overnight - there was a thick layer of ice inside my car windscreen this morning - but the sun's shining now.

Oma - you must have needed that sleep. Enjoy your relaxing morning. I hope B's appointment has gone well.

Clover - some days just seem to be endless chores, don't they. Do something nice for yourself, you deserve it. xxx

Plant - I agree with you about voting for the trees. You can't compare an adult WI one with a playgroup one. There again, I'd probably vote for the playgroup one just because the little ones would be so happy to win and I think it's good to encourage them with positive results. Enjoy all your Christmas meals - there's always January to compensate.

Gem - what a lovely week-end of GCs you've had. It sounds as though they were all brilliant and a real joy. I would much rather have a real tree, but it's not worth the endless battle with OH. I make up for it by having the house full of fresh flowers, plants and bulbs. Enjoy your lunch with the golf crowd.

Mimi - those socks look nice and cosy. I was thinking this morning when it was icy about the socks Enfys knitted, and thinking they'd be perfect for these chilly mornings.

Nanto - what a pretty dainty graphic to start the week. I hope your mum and dad are ok.

OH's car has a flat tyre. We're hoping he can pump it up to get to the garage to get a new one, or rather two new ones as the one on the other side is only just legal. He's also going to take a few more bags of stuff to the charity shop. We've still got a lot to sort out though.

Both the dogs are tired after yesterday, and Cooper is even having a snooze on my feet - all 30+ kg of him!

Phew, I’ve been busy this morning.
Washing done, kitchen, bathroom cleaned. Bedroom and sitting vacuumed and dusted and the glass display cabinet emptied, cleaned and all the glass wear washed and put back into the cabinet. OH has just come in and he has made a coffee so I am sitting down wondering who I have turned into ?

Oma, it’s lovely when you can get a good nights sleep isn’t it.

Plant that’s a good idea about writing Christmas cards, I really must make a start .
I have just two Christmas meals to have until the big day

        Have a good day everyone
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi - I'm getting worried about you. Doing all that would set Oma back on her heels even after a good night's sleep. You'll need your Christmas dinners to keep your strength up!

Mimi , you have been busy!

It was black ice here this morning, I went to the gym at 7am on my bike and didn't realise it could be icy! After a few members arrive saying they had either fallen off their bikes or seen someone fall I realised I had been lucky! I was very careful on my way home, on the corner near here a lady had fallen badly and an ambulance was there to help.

Gem, I can't remember last having a christmas tree, could have been when we first moved into this flat, about 40 years ago! I was at my friends on Saturday, they live at the other side of the lift, they go away for Christmas but always have a tree.

I usually go to 5o fit in the pool on a Monday but with picking the GDs up it would be too much of a rush so will start again next week, the pool has been closed for 6 weeks. A man I swim with, I get on well with him, been for lunch a few times with him and met his wife, he phoned me to tell me that his wife is in the hospital, has a growth near her brain, already had a few tests etc but now in the hospital for the rest then they will make a plan for the operation, the specialist has told them it isn't a cancer growth so that is one good thing, it is close to her brain though so she will have to go to a special hospital for the operation. All worrying things we hear as we get older!

On the happy side, I have made coffee this morning for a group of elderly people, well some are my age, but the eldest has just had a birthday, 97 years old! Lives on his own, someone picks him up and brings him for his coffee chat. GD1 was helping me one holiday and she was learning about the war at school, well, he told her all she needed to know!

Clover, sorry, I forgot to mention, we have a few in the apartments with Alzeimers, one man gets picked up 3 afternoon's a week to go to a care place, it gives his wife a rest and gives her time for shopping etc. There are a few in the area go to a care farm or, another has just opened, a care grower.

Daisy, Re: the Christmas Trees, I can't understand why the playgroups don't get voted the winner. You would expect everyone would vote for one that was decorated by children.

Oma, what a good night's sleep
Lizzie, go carefully on your bike with the ice!
                  Mimi, what a busy bee!
I hope OH got the car to the garage Daisy. What a pain.
Plant I have 2 meals out this week too, including today's lunch.
                  Sending love to Clover.

The Christmas lunch at the golf club was lovely. My first Christmas pudding of the season. I had parsnip soup to start, and basa filet in filo pastry for my main course.
All afternoon I have been sharpening pencils!! I volunteered to sort out the PTA's craft box from GD's school. It was in a terrible state and there is an after school Crafternoon event on Friday. DD is head of the PTA and I like to help if I can. Lots of sorting, tidying and throwing away was needed. I did that yesterday evening then left all the pencil sharpening until today. All I can say is that school will never, ever, need to buy more coloured pencils!! Felt tips they will, as the majority I threw out as they were either lidless and dry, or pressed down so hard the tips were like fluffy flowers

Welcome home Qwerty. Sorry about the weather though - you must be perished. At least it's supposed to get a bit milder later in the week. As you say, you soon slot back into the routines.

Lizzie - thank goodness you avoided the Black Ice. It's tonight your GDs are staying over, isn't it? I hope you all have a lovely time.

Gem, one Christmas dinner down - how many to go? Glad it was yummy - and I love parsnip soup. Wow, that sounds like a lot of sharp pencils, and a good job well done.

OH didn't get the tyres done today. The garage hadn't got the right kind. He's going first thing tomorrow so I hope the pumped up tyre gets him there ok. He used my car to take the bags to the charity shop and run a few other errands.

My usual busy day tomorrow, so an early night for me.
