All shops now closed in Slovakia except for the souvenir shops! Panicked when I couldn't find deployable but got to shop with minutes to spare before doors were closed, phew! Presents now wrapped ready to go to DS's tomorrow.Taking veg etc later today. Lost OH in Tescos yesterday, couldn't find his way back to meeting point so he went back to hotelhotel and phoned us from there. Don't know who was more panicked, me or DS. Needless to say he didn't have his phone with him. He's on a chain today! Have a restful and peaceful Christmas Eve everyone xx

LOL WG, Merry Christmas to you too

Oh yes, Nana, it has to be done that way!

It is so sunny and warm! We delivered the LD cards, and by the time we neared the end, I wished I hadn't taken my coat!

Happy Christmas Grans! We haven’t got off to a good start, the oven door broke this morning- currently main oven unusable. I hope to have someone come and glue it (with special stuff) this afternoon, it takes 24 hours to dry..... I’m meant to be cooking the Christmas Dinner on Boxing Day Turkey and all the trimmings.... not sure whether it will be mended or not yet!
currently using the small oven for mince pies and a small piece of gammon, good job I chose a small one this year..... ☹️😫😒

Well it was kind of a on off day with MIL
Got to place we were having lunch ,
Firstly she didn't think it looked festive enough , then she wanted to sit by the radiator but that was next to the beer garden door and people coming in and out for a cigarette so there was a draft but se didn't want to swap seats either .
Then she complained the menu was a bit basic ( it wasn't it was quite extensive)
She chose Lasagne and liked it , that was a surprise , But then a large party came in and were seated a couple of tables away , she complained they were too noisy and couldn't we ask them to shut up

She didn't like that Martin had two beer's even though Clare was driving ,

Got home and we brought her Present out , we had clubbed together and bought her a new Hifi as hers had broken and she was using a little radio ,

She moaned that whatever it was she had no idea where she was going to put it before she even opened the box ,
She was happy with it once she realised what it was and the men had taken it out the box and set it up for her thank goodness .

So we had a few well a lot of moans but on the whole she was ok at least she kept her voice down today

Oma, I'm sorry but had to smile at your post. I can just imagine your faceπŸ˜‰ She seems to be ungrateful for whatever you all do for her.

Avo sorry to hear about your oven. I've been following your posts on Fbk. I'm sure you'll have enough kind family to help you out. Good luck.πŸ¦ƒ

OMG that Pecan pie looks amazing mmmmmmm

Nanto, Nana we are so used to her that we expect it but sometimes its hard to hold my tongue , luckily myself and Martins partner can have a giggle about her bad manners and everything

Qwerty if I thought it would help I would gladly pour the booze down her throat
She did give us a proper hug when we left so not all bad , usually its a quick stiff as a board hug so we knew she was actually pleased with her gift even if it kills her to admit it

As I said to B she's a pain in the Butt , but she is their Mam and she's 84 they lucky to still have her I would give anything to have my Mam again so we can ignore her bitching and moaning I think , shes a hard faced woman but after more than 40 years I love her really . or is it because it Christmas ive become soppy hahahahaha

Avo - what dreadful timing - but looking on the bright side, someone else will, I'm sure, cook it for you.

Qwerty your pecan pie and meringue look so professional and I bet they taste fantastic.

Oma, I'm sorry I have to smile at your MIL's antics - it's a good job you and her other DIL can have a giggle over it.

Gem - Glad you're back on form - and got some fresh air as well!

Clover - it's lovely that both your sons are spending Christmas with you - I hope they help with the washing up.

WeeGranny - I had to smile at you mislaying your OH. I'm relieved he found his way back to the hotel.

Nana - enjoy have DD and GSs staying, but don't overdo things and end up exhausted.

I hope everyone else is all done and ready for tomorrow.

We spent quite a long time with Eva in the paddock, running off some energy (her, not us!), came home, had lunch and then I set the table for tomorrow, prepped the veggies etc and am going to have an early night. I was thinking, time was, (back in the dark ages!) I used to go out dancing Christmas Eve, busy Christmas day and go our again Boxing evening. But I was a teenager then!!!

Some lovely long-time friends are coming round for bubbles tomorrow morning. DS2 and family plus his MIL and FIL are due to arrive about 12-12.30, but it's quite possible they will be late, so it's going to be a busy day, but hopefully everyone will enjoy it.
